Ledger Live Current Version Update?

I have the message of New update available, it will install and relaunch Leger Live automatically when you close the app.  Install now and relaunch and it's in orange background.



Normally I just click on it and then it downloads the update.



The thing is when I click on setting and about it shows Version 2.130.1



This is the latest version according to ledger live on the website but it shows Ledger Live latest version is 2.126 as the newest version according to google ai overview?  I'm confused here.



The thing is I notice this new update available has orange as the font color for the background.  Back then, it was always like a purple or blue color.  Did that change recently?

On the signature page of ledger, it does seem to say 2.131.1 is the updated version?

To begin with, don't 100% trust any AI, especially not the G00gle AI overview.

It is best to do your own research by going to ledger.com and checking the current version in the download section.
I did it for you, assuming you're interested in the Windows version. So, it is:

Automatic updates through the application do not necessarily lead you to the latest version. The application may suggest the next one, because it still hasn't recognized that a new update came out after that.

Also, I suggest that you do not rush to install the update immediately after release, because it happens that a new update brings a new bug, which is recognized only after the release and the first use.

The thing is when you check ledger live history on the website, it shows 2.1.30.1 as the latest version though.  But if you check ledger live signature website, it shows 2.1.31.1.


So whatever shows up on your ledger live when it tells you there is an update available, that is legit then right?


I thought the Google ai oveview was generally accurate but it showed 2.1.26 which is not accurate since my version is even later.


So would you suggest updating to the 2.131.1 then?

2.131.1 is the current version. I guess it's okay to use it if it's downloaded from a genuine source

I currently have this version installed, but I certainly only use Ledger for some experiments and possible temporary (smaller) transactions, so it doesn't really matter to me.

They would have to be compatible in both ways, but here we are talking about Ledger, which knows how to force users to a new update. For example, at some point, I was forced to update the firmware in order to be able to use the ETH application on it.

Which version are you currently using now?  2.1.30.1 or 2.1.31.1?


Well I would be downloading it straight from the ledger live app as it would relaunch and download.  That is how I download the latest version of ledger live each time as I don't go to the website to do it.


I was a bit confused why it didn't show 2.1.31.1 as the latest version on ledger live history.  But it showed it on the signature page so wanted to ask that.

According to Ledger website that updated on 3rd November the latest version is - 2.131.1

The latest version of Ledger Wallet for desktop or laptop computers is 2.131.1
The latest version of Ledger Wallet for mobile (iPhone or Android) is 3.96.1

So why should you be confused? The version I have mentioned is already updated on their website. Not sure after your post if they have updated since the update date is the same. For now you shouldn't be confused if you have installed the latest version.

But for your information, don't use update your application or software from the apps or software notification. I have remembered how the Electrum wallet was hacked through the notification update when a fake version was replaced. So always go to the ledger's original website and find if they have released a latest version. Then only download from the official website and verify it if you can. Means you will be safe. Though it's a hardware wallet, fake software would replace the address, and you might make mistakes by not checking on the device properly. So just make sure of what I said.
