I came across this news earlier today, about a Nigeria celebrity who won 250 millions in my local currency,  we often see such winnings get posted by celebrities,  but if dig down we discover that, most of them are influencers for those gambling sites.

Just like this case, if you check the image carefully you discover that, something is not righ from the odds calculations and the rest,  what is your take on this kind of news from celebrities about their big winnings.

It's not actually new and a lot of celebrity, influencers and live streamers are part of the marketing, I don't know exactly but I think it depends on the deal, some of the profits were not real or the balance were not real they just showcase it to public to encourage them on playing, some live streamers do get percentage of the winnings aside from the payment on their live streams. The main point is those celebrities and live streamers are not playing for themselves but rather for the platform itself, as you can see a lot of celebrities who advertise the site doesn't show any losses, always winning right?

Because if the player really gamble and lose (actually win or lose), it will be a scandal and would destroy their name.

For a barely popular local casino, that's a huge amount of money to be paying out to a winner. Either, it's money laudering or a fake.

What's wrong with the odds? You mean if we calculate what we see on the screen, the overall odds would be 4+, but we see 238? I think this is because we don't see all the outcomes added to the multiple bet on the screen, there are definitely others. As you can see, this is a screenshot from a phone, so I can understand there wasn't enough room to place a large multiple bet. As for the reality of this bet, since a celebrity is involved, nothing can be guaranteed.

The source of an information like this is most likely from a betting advert, they show the celebrity winning and fan want to win too but at the end of the day it's still just and advert and none of it is real, but if the information is not from an advert then it might actually be real, although I've not heard the news myself and celerity news like this in Nigeria is usually big so it's still not too clear, it could be some AI generated image too from some deranged mind somewhere.
But it's not out of place for betting companies and casinos to publicise information like this one in order to get more customers, at the end of the day it just business as usual.

Most of these celebrities are promoters of these betting app mostly people with massive audience and influence on social media like content creators or comedians. I think the screenshot posted below might actually be true because you can see it was taken from a phone and the potential winnings and odds not adding up is actually because of the win bonus which helps boost one's winnings.

I think this kind of win calls for an ambassadorial deal if the winner did not have any affiliation with the betting platform before then and the bet platform might have a percentage from the winning as well. I heard this from a friend so I don't know the authenticity of these information but it could be true.

That's a huge amount of money to be paid to one man without a physical meeting, don't you think?

Unless the user has 20s of parlay bets, the odds shown there is unlikely to get him total odds of 238. The odds for each outcome doesn't seem out of place, they are the regular odds. The win bonus is also not that different from other sites that provides bonus on longer parlays. The only odd thing I find is the bet amount, 1 million naira for such risky parlay is too much. I don't think any regular gambler does that.
It could be a real win provided the user did 20s of parlay and got lucky winning it all but unless more details are provided we'd not know who gambled in which platform, it would be difficult to confirm whether its just a promotional fraud or a real once in a lifetime win.

Yeah, I totally get what you mean. Most of these big win posts from celebrities feel staged or exaggerated. They’re basically marketing tactics to make regular people believe anyone can win that huge. But if you look closely in that screenshot where the math or odds often don’t even make sense. The problem is that a lot of fans trust these celebrities, so when they post about winning millions, people think that its legit and try their luck too while only to lose in the end. It’s misleading and kind of unethical, because theyre using their influence to promote gambling without showing the real risks behind it.
