When will that be, that we're gonna wake up to that, for Ethereum to outshine Bitcoin? What you should be concerned about is that another coin does not outshine Ethereum, then Ethereum thinks of outshining Bitcoin someday. Because that is not happening anytime soon, if it should. Ethereum hasn't grown big enough to challenge Bitcoin in its utility.

Despite ETH's inherent flaws, no other crypto (besides Bitcoin) can outmatch its level of security and reliability. The same principle applies to Bitcoin. ETH can be seen as the "King of Altcoins", while Bitcoin remains the "King of Crypto".

While ETH is one of the best altcoins on the market, it will never outshine Bitcoin. Not in terms of market cap or price. It can outshine Bitcoin in mainstream adoption, though. ETH already had several spot ETFs approved by the SEC. It's just that institutional investors aren't buying it. At least, not at the same rate as Bitcoin. All of the attention is on BTC due to its store of value properties. It has often been proclaimed as "Digital Gold".

It's going to take quite a while before capital flows back into ETH again. ETH won't be able to outshine BTC in terms of market cap or price. But it can outshine it in terms of mainstream adoption and market liquidity. Unlike BTC, ETH is versatile. Which means, it can be used nearly anywhere you can imagine. Since it's the "Home of De-Fi", you can lend, borrow, and even trade tokens in a decentralized manner completely on-chain. You can't do that with Bitcoin, unless you use a sidechain or L2. Currently, ETH enjoys a large ecosystem of Dapps, tokens, and services. It's no wonder it's still the #1 altcoin, despite rivals promising cheaper fees and faster speeds. It won't be long before ETH goes all the way to the moon. I'd keep both BTC and ETH in my porfolio for long. Those are two "gems" that will make us very rich. You'll see...

In my opinion, it's best to keep only Bitcoin and keep both ETH and Bitcoin together because, ultimately, the price of ETH will only rise if the price of Bitcoin rises.

The chart shows a classic thing about altcoins with a strongest altcoin and the best ambassador of altcoins is Ethereum.

Ethereum is a strongest altcoin from its ERC20 ecosystem, the Ethereum marketcap, the total ERC20 ecosystem value and the ETH strength to survive and create new All Time Highs in all market cycles so far. Though Ethereum has good ROIs with market cycles, its ROIs are worse than Bitcoin's ROIs especially if we consider how severe loss we have had if we sold our bitcoins for purchasing ETH.

The ETH/BTC pair over years shows this fact but there is interesting signal of higher lows for ETH in this pair. It can be be a signal for an outshine of Ethereum in coming months, in 2026.

In the short-term, yes. However, I believe there's still a chance for altcoins to experience a resurgence in demand over the long-term. That would effectively cause market prices to go all the way to the moon. You think institutional investors are going to let this opportunity slip by? I don't think so. They will start off with Ethereum, followed by other prominent altcoins in the market.

That said, I think Ethereum will eventually outshine Bitcoin in terms of mainstream adoption. It's the "Home of De-Fi", anyways. But outshining Bitcoin in terms of market price or market cap? Not a chance. I'd be satisfied with ETH reaching a new ATH over time. As long as you can make money with it, nothing else matters.

Vitalik seems to be addressing the problem about ethereum where it's prioritizing mass adoption too much, though. There can be some good change to ethereum in the upcoming years but for now and maybe even next year, it's monero that going up.

Looking at the discussion, it looks like people are expecting a higher return but the reality is that this year should be a bear year where both of them falls. I cannot guarantee that of course, I just look at historical patterns and make that decision but there is a good chance that we could see this type of change and that could be the result that we are going to see.

I get that it is not going to be easy but we can definitely see this type of change somewhere along the lines and if it is really a bear one then we are not going to really see ethereum or bitcoin do good at all.

Monero is only going up because of the "privacy coins hype". Not because people actually care about privacy. Hype in Ethereum faded long ago, because competitors brought faster and cheaper transactions. In other words, the competition's focus on user experience (UX) took the attention away from ETH. Of course, we can't deny ETH is one of the most decentralized and reliable cryptocurrencies in the world after Bitcoin. But in terms of UX, it fails miserably. ETH developers paid their attention into L2 scaling, instead of addressing issues on the main chain itself (L1). Now they're trying to fix this, but it's already too late.

Without momentum for ETH, I'm afraid market prices will continue to go down for the foreseeable future. Or at least, remain relatively stagnant. Ethereum may never outshine Bitcoin in terms of market cap or price, but it can outshine it in terms of daily transaction volume and liquidity. Unlike Bitcoin, Ethereum is programmable, contributing towards the networks' versatility by expanding its use cases beyond compare. It should only be a matter of time before "Wall Street" injects more capital into ETH. It's the only altcoin so far with spot ETFs (AFAIK). That will give ETH a huge advantage over its competitors. We'll see how far it'll go.

Is like you have not visit the market today because if you have visited the market you will know that the price of bitcoin has touched $90k to cause some investors to earn income from their investments,  for etherium it will take a long years before etherium price will be in the same price with bitcoin because etherium price is still struggling to touch $4k which it will be difficult for the price of etherium to increase to that stage, and what etherium holders should be expecting from etherium is bearish season because it will maintain that price till next year before the price will increase above #4k to allow etherium holders to release their coins to achieve their goal.

There is absolutely little hope for now as the market stands because Bitcoin and ethereum are all going down although I know that the current situation isn't permanent or anything but with the way the market is going am certain that this year will be one hell of a year for ethereum especially now that Bitcoin is also going down drastically except the tides change in favor of Bitcoin and it decides to go up again then maybe ethereum can follow in the steps too.
