This is the phishing scam few hours ago:

This is how I easily know it was a scam if you see the Gate logo in blue and incomplete ring that is completed with a teal square on this image:

Also Gate only mention my user number on emails they are spending me email but the scammer mentioned my real email address instead.

Gate has warned his users but you can see the real logo on the warning that it is better and well rounded than the scam one. That is how the real Gate logo is:

I am very sure that my email was not leaked out anywhere that on Gate.com, this is the first phishing email I have received on the email.

You can set anti-phishing code to know real and fake email from Gate
You should only access anything directly on Gate website, it is fake if you do not see it there

Am using gate.io exchange and have never been asked this before even while I was about to download the wallet then, but with this that has been shown, it is more clearly evident that it's a phishing attempt, because this was shown from the app store where we can download the app from, some that may not know could actually follow the same pattern to enable them get it set up, without knowing it an attempt for scam as such should never be asked from us at that stage, now that these scammers are storming exchanges and it's over to the turn of gate.io to also face part of the challenges others already faced from related mode of attack targeted at their users.

Luckily phishing attacks often lack the quality needed to deceive most users, with many typos, images and colours that doesn't fit or look "normal", and other similar errors. But as long as it's profitable for them to only convince a very small percentage from a very big list of users, we'll have to stay alert of such attacks, which I foresee they'll be more elaborated as time goes by and technique progresses.

I think this kind of scam can happen on any exchange, so we really need to stay alert. Once you click that kind of link, it’s basically game over-  especially if you’ve been keeping your crypto on an exchange instead of a private wallet.

Good thing you shared this in the right section so new users can see it too. It’s heartbreaking to lose money you’ve worked hard for just because of a simple scam attempt that slipped past your attention. Awareness like this really helps keep others safe.

Yes, that is very true but some people still fall for their malicious attempts which is what I am always surprised about but not everyone have the knowledge about phishing attack. Some people could have been scammed first before they will know about it.

Yes, it can happen on any exchange but it is really bad about how our emails are easily exposed on Gate.io. The exchange did not secure our email away from hackers.

I really don't fancy these anti phishing codes, sometimes data leaks are internal and in the event of such, all phishing codes tied to such accounts can be vulnerable and the bad actors can use it to cause more damage.

This have made me not to take those codes more seriously. It has good potentials but when compromised it has a higher possibility of endangering the funds of those who already depend on it for originality.

OP, Its good you were able to differentiate the scam mail from actual one, we need to very vigilant.
