We could decide to have interest in any coin, serving the purpose of a long-term investment asset for us, whereby we may stand to risk it or even take it for how it may appear to us, little do we know sometimes that what we are supposed to invest upon could have been avoided if we have prior information to why we should not consider them for investment, same can also be in the opposite direction when the opportunity lies with any coin we are interested to invest in and w are not considering such coin.

The question remains that, can we trust any altcoin for long term holdings, considering how their lrice fall rapidly, and no hope of recovering, except those among the top 100 on the CMC, most of them are currently pumping in price alongside with bitcoin recent market benchmark, but even at that, if you check, the ratio of the price gains is not so significant to put the long term investors on profits yet. You can check most coins like Ethereum, Dogecoin, and some other see if their percentage profit gain is equal to their ratio of market drop when the entire market went into bear mode earlier this year.

Beyond Bitcoin and Ether, there are few selected projects that are worth trusting. Some factors to consider;
1) Utility != will not dump
2) Strong Product != will not dump.

In the end, it is still about many many factors, including bitcoin-related utility.

While this could be a factor, this isn't applicable to all projects.

Correct me, but I've seen a coin that has no utility, but isn't dumping at all, and on the other hand, I've seen projects in the past that could have a good utility, but ended up failing because of probably lack of support from the public and maybe lack of funds to develop their project as well. Also, I've seen projects that has a strong product that ended up dumping. PI is one of the many... or did they have a product in the first place aside from their mining app?

Kidding aside what you said was true, but not applicable to all. As for the OP though, I'm still focusing more on the top coins in terms of market cap. Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, SOL, BNB, HYPE and SUI. These are just some of the coins that I want to hold for long-term, but of course I will not buy them all. Recommendation to those newbies maybe.

For long-term investment, I do not like any other coin except Bitcoin. Because in the past experience, Bitcoin has given me long-term relief. Another reason to invest in Bitcoin is its fixed supply and its global acceptance. In addition, except for some coins at the top of the altcoin list, the rest are at risk of long-term price declines that may never reach a new ATH. In some cases, the market has gone out. So, wasting money unnecessarily on altcoins is not a good plan for long-term investment.

Solana is the only coin other than Bitcoin that I really like. I don’t own much compared to my BTC or even my ETH holdings, but I think Solana is a better form of Ethereum. With the growth ETH is expecting, I think SOL will do even better. If I weren’t stacking Bitcoin, I would be stacking Solana.

To be honest, it’s debatable whether Solana is the better form of Ethereum. Although right now Solana is outperforming Ethereum and other networks in terms of DEX activity, the problem with Solana is that most of the activity on the network revolves around meme tokens rather than more serious projects.

Being faster and cheaper doesn't mean Sol is doing better than ETH or even BNB.
If you look at the bigger picture, Sol has actually been losing steam compared to other Layer 1s over the past year.

The proof is that despite all the hype around Sol, most of the liquidity and money flow is still concentrated in ETH, TRX, and BNB. Sol is only in 4th place. So saying it's already outperforming ETH is still a bit too early.

It should have been easier for us to choose if the question includes Bitcoin, but as for this thread is about altcoins that are good potential for long term holding, what we should know is that altcoins are high risks assets and for that reason we must make sure to put only amount that we have leftover after Bitcoin being the main investment choice for us, so for that we know that no matter the level of volitility in the altcoins market we have Bitcoin as a hedged investment.

While i may not be confident wholely about these coins future performance I think they're better giving a try on than any other altcoins within their rating. BNB’s biggest strength is the massive distribution and usage of the Binance/BNB Chain ecosystem. At the end of 2025, BNB Chain had around 18.7M daily transactions and 4.5M daily active users. So BNB seems to be the most reliable and robust for ecosystem and distribution.

Considering the risk of holding period, BTC is the most important and reliable coin for long-term investment for me. Although there is no guarantee that the adoption of a blockchain will increase at that rate in the long run.

After bitcoin no coin is having any guaranteed to stay long enough even recent development bringing BNB and Solana on good level but still things are never been on trustable level this is always problem with altcoins but as devs are working and things are going ahead its looking good for both to be have good future after bitcoin currently. Solana doing good with reasonable price while BNB is having enough depth to challenge Ethereum in near future there is no doubt BNB ecosystem will be improve and do much better from its current potential despite having enough talk and things Bitcoin could be always first priority.
