We do not know for now, but I know it would be a major update like version 5.0.0. I am not sure if it would be but I am just saying.

You can use other wallet like Sparrow for now if you need taproot addresses.

"Support" as in creating Taproot addresses or just simply sending to Taproot addresses?

Because for the latter, Electrum already supports Taproot for a few years now since 2022.

For the former, code for spending is already implemented but not yet in the GUI since it's not ready for the end-user yet.
I don't see any ETA mentioned by the developers though.

Use Sparrow Wallet, it does everything Electrum does and and even has support for generating bech32m (taproot) receiving addresses.

Another great option with support for receiving coins with a taproot address is Wasabi Wallet, it has a more user-friendly interface. Read at least the basics of the software's documentation.

There's no sign that Electrum will add bech32m (receiving) support, I've given up waiting, as there are better options like Bitcoin Core, Sparrow, Wasabi, etc.

I would stay away from any tool that starts off by talking about improving privacy and then goes around that and starts cooperating with blockchain analysis companies that are known to be anti-privacy. Such developers have no integrity and trusting their product is difficult...
