If you believe sports rigging really happens, what’s your approach to still win?

A lot of bettors already think some games are rigged whether it’s the refs, the league, or even players themselves.
Not saying all but there are moments that really make you question what’s going on, (those questionable calls)...

So my question is, if you believe that kind of thing really happens, how do you approach your bets? Do you still bet normally based on stats and form, or do you adjust like maybe avoid certain leagues, or focus more on live betting where you can “feel” what’s happening in real time?

If match-fixing permeates the entire system from bottom to top, then you can only try to outplay insiders according to their own rules if you have insider information yourself. Let's call it counter-insider. This is when you somehow know what they know, but they don't know that you know (if they find out, it can be deadly for you).

If you're just a gambler, there are two ways. The first is to place bets as if there are no match-fixing. Just using statistics, well, and your intuitive preferences. Because not every match is a rigged match. But you'll never guess in advance which one is rigged. It will become clear only after the match, and then not always. The second way is to choose casino gambling instead of betting. There is no rigged spin in roulette! It just doesn't make sense for a casino.

My basis is simple..  when I see a line that’s attracting too much public action on one side or looks too good to be true, I’ll usually bet against it.

Most of the time, when something like that happens and the line doesn’t move, it raises suspicion already. It could mean there’s something going on behind the scenes, maybe influence from the so-called “sharps” or even cooperation with the league or certain players.

When the odds don’t react to heavy betting pressure, that’s when I start thinking something’s not right.

Most likely I will avoid that league anyways, if there are news that it has been tampered with players, coaches, refs and others involved.

And I don't think that majority here are betting on lower league though? I mean we go and bet on crypto sports bookies that only listed leagues that are A-tier. Unless you go and bet on a person individually on a 1vs1, so that could be the case.

But for me, no I will stay away from that league.

I think rigged games or matches is really happening but rarely on big leagues, if I am not mistaken it usually happens in smaller or unknown leagues. I usually don't place bet in smaller or lower leagues since rigging most likely to happen there, I'm not sure in the higher leagues maybe they do rig some of the stats like limiting the corners, scores, rebounds, etc. but I think it's unlikely to happen in big leagues but in case it is happening, my goal is to just to stick with 1 bets and strictly implement my minimum bet and look for ideal odds maybe like 1.8x to 2.5x.

Well, the thing is that although those things might happen, it's usually very rare, as it is very controlled.

I think it's just part of the folklore that people assume it's real, but it doesn't happen that often.

Fixed matches do exist, if you want to experience it first hand, go & bet on the balkan leagues . However, not all matches are fixed matches, the bigger the stage, the smaller the chance of the match being fixed. If I've already marked a match as fixed, I will avoid it, I prefer to have fun in big competitions where fixed matches are rare. I think you've got the idea from my response.

I don't know what some people mean by 'major leagues' (which is what some call the MLB). Regardless, fixed games exist, and not only in countries with elite sports like the United States, where there are many examples, one is happening right now.

Other examples, in Italy's Serie A, they had scandals that have surpassed any movie script; . That said, surely anyone would has the opportunity to bet on fixed games and never knew it, or  found out after the scandal broke.

Now, the interesting thing is that international organizations and the leagues themselves are supposedly 'protecting' fair play, and that gives you the answer: bet on established leagues.

I avoid certain leagues and avoid certain match too.

Example the points gap between the top team and other teams, even there are still 5 match left, the runner up team can't surprass the top team even they're win streak. Since the top team know they already become a champion, usually they won't give their best performance.

When a strong team play in smaller competition, we shouldn't think they will win easier, usually the coach use their B class players or the youth.

This is what I do. To get to leagues where match fixing us prevalent, you will have to go really low to semi professional leagues and the likes. It's difficult to make a judgement call on those matches and they are also limited by the bookmakers to prevent abuse, so much better to avoid them entirely and focus on the professional level of the sport.
