To be frank and realistic, many gamblers today has been suffering for lack of funds managements, when they wins they wouldn't mind withdrawing out their winning out from the casino instead they would want to double their winning by either increasing their bet or using their winning to gamble more in order to win something big but at the last the results doesn't ends as they planned were it would then lead them to lose everything they have made from gambling.

If you dont understand that gambling is a game of luck thst cant be predicted, it is very difficult to do all these things you have just stated now. When people think what they have won is not enough and they need to play more, then it will always end as lose because their is no guarantee that even of you want to increase your win you will definitely get it. OP, what you're saying is a fact: when a gambler wins, they continue playing, increasing their bets instead of cashing out. I often experience disappointment and regret due to such greed.

But now I'm better able to control my gambling activities. Because of the bitter experiences and regrets I've often experienced before, I'm now always conscious of withdrawing immediately when I win. Even if it's less than double my stake, I withdraw immediately without further thought.

Of course every gamblers has his or her own way of approaching gamble, and I would love to say that your approach is almost the same with mine just a little bit different though. and that's the number two option where you said that most times you have all your funds withdrawn why most times you can decide to leave some portion. For me once I encounter win in gamble I don't hesitate to withdraw everything  after that I can decide to use it to sort whatever thing I want to sort with it, but I make sure that I don't squander everything but I must say that most times I get carried away and just squander everything but that's not actually a big deal for me as I will still fund my account whenever I feel like gambling.

Your friend was dumb to think gambling as a way and means to double his bankroll and to meet up with what he want to get because at least he should know the risks that comes with gambling and how one can lose his money just by staking one wrong bet, just like it happen to your friend.

Additional bets after winning can't be stop and that's because a gambler feels that he's still lucky at that time and that's why he'll continue. And by doing that, they're forgetting to withdraw at least a good amount from the wins that they've made. True, what why I say that confidence is good but overconfidence is harmful.
In fact, I have seen many of my friends who, if they win 1 or 2 rounds while gambling, think that strategy and skill are useful in gambling and that they were able to win because their strategy and skill were good. Later, they become overconfident and keep betting money to increase their money. At some point, what happens is that they face losses and while trying to recover those losses, they lose their initial fund again.

Most times, you can’t even distance yourself, because it is in your mobile phone. You just have to be disciplined enough not to log in.
Also investing while it makes sense is not always possible unless you are a high roller who hits the jackpot.
