I would like to use this avenue to appreciate everyone who supported this program by means of kind words, guidance, encouragement, and most especially donations to ensure that this was a massive success.

It’s because of you that a good number of the world’s children, struggling to grow up without proper parental care and love, would feel loved and appreciated and have a sense of belonging in our world today. I can express that the children were visibly overjoyed when they saw me and my team extending your cares for them from all corners of the globe. They did more than smile.

Here is a highlight of the money received and how it was spent.

A total of ($259.92) in Nigerian naira of the amount N383,382 was received.

The sum of $240, which is equivalent to N354,285.06 in Nigerian naira, was spent on buying provisions for the children.

While $19.7, the equivalent of N29,096.94, was spent on transport logistics from having to get the items and transporting these items to the various orphanages. The time for the activities ranged between 12 noon and 6 pm.

The putting of A SMILE
Initially, I and the team I formed to make this a massive success had plans of visiting just 3 orphanages, but we figured with the resources at our hands, we could do more, and so we extended it to a 4th.

   

   

We purchased the following items from a grocery store:
5 bags of the 25 kg rice
4 containers of the 3-liter vegetable oil
6 cartons of noodles
5 big packs of washing soap and tissue
4 cartons of Caprisone fruit juice

Outside the general budget, I, with my own money, purchased some fairly used clothes, and that is the content of the bags in each of the donations.

The children were visibly happy; we shared some words of encouragement with them, strengthened their core, and made them know that they are loved and cherished, that they do belong, and that they are indeed tomorrow’s leaders. We gave them the gifts we have for them, and they, in turn, gave us what they had to offer.

They sang for us, prayed for us and our benefactors, wished us well on our way, and we were generally blessed.

I will again especially like to appreciate everyone who contributed to making this outreach a success; you are VIPs.

Giving them food items is not a good idea because it will encourage others parents to be bringing their children to orphanage home because they know people like you will come to forum to seek donation to feed them. How old are you? Like, 12? It had been a long time since I had read so much nonsense in a single paragraph, and believe me, I've read my fair share of nonsense on this forum.

Whenever something good happens and is successful, there's always some idiot who doesn't like it and comes up with the most bizarre arguments.

I had hoped that there would be more collected as there was plenty of time for your community to pitch in but everyone has their own problems I suppose and then there's always the lack of trust. It's good that they got some extra resources regardless of the amount, anything helps.

You can be pessimistic all you want, but I don't see feeding children to be a bad thing at all. They didn't ask to be put in their situation and deserve a little bit of positive encouragement. I think getting them food and cleaning supplies is probably much more important than giving toys and things that are far less important.



Rruchi man, you did a positive thing for your community and you should try to keep it up. I wish your community(local Nigerian users) would have stepped up more. I noticed a few chimed in in the local board thread and it was just words for their post quota. Not many anted up, but it is what it is. Would have been netter if they said nothing vs trying to act like they were gonna help.

This is quite a very nice initiative you came up with @ O.P at this. Aimed at seeking for a charitable contribution to feed orphans and the less privilege, which is quite impressive, as we approaches December to celebrate Christmas in a few months time.  So I wish you all the best, as I look forward to seeing how we could make sure to seeing this come to reality and put smiles on the faces of the less privileged an orphan this December.

This is a great plan to bring smiles to the faces of orphans. I really like to see someone doing charity work, because people are for people. I always remember one thing, if you think for others, then others will also think for you. I would definitely be happy to be a part of such a charity work, but there is still a lot of time for that. OP, thank you very much for coming forward with a beautiful plan.

I'm overwhelmed seeing this particular thread being initiated for those less privilege, i really appreciate the OP to have come with this great ideas of visiting at least three less privilege during December festival celebration, it is very nice that you created thread early because we are going to use enough time in gathering and contributing to support this particular thread in one way or the others, because definitely December is a celebration period which so many events will surely be going on, so the earlier we attcle this particular one that have shown its date of visiting which kept aside on 13th December, so our support is highly needed here.

Wow this about the most exciting projects so far on this forum who would have thought that one can think of people outside the forum, I must say that this act of selflessness is one of its kind hence projects like this does not need delay to be invested in and I must say I will do my best in the little way I can to participate just to show my support and how much I care about this people who do not really get all the love that they might be getting on a daily basis.

I am not going to go through the whole thread and call out everyone who is a post spammer that did nothing to help, just wrote a post for their quota. You guys all get the gist. If you have no interest in helping, don't post. The thread didn't need your empty words.

Sorry for being an asshole in the little rant there but just bugs me.

As far as can be seen, the amount has been spent and the necessary items have been delivered to those who need it most, which is ultimately what matters most. I'd be happy to donate again if the OP wants to do another campaign because we're in the month of giving - maybe this time throw in some candy or toys, because that's what kids love the most.
