Then this probably falls under losing in the long run. $20k is a decent amount of money. If I may ask, what were your strategies? Do you have a specific bankroll management plan? Because you were already up that big, yet in the long run you still ended up losing.

As to whether we can make money from sports betting or not, the answer is absolutely yes. You can really make money from sports betting  but that will be only if you do it like a small and quiet business and not something you become so ambitious about. Most gamblers doesn't really tell the truth as far as their losing goes. They only flaunt us the money that they have wont and not when they are in the negative. Majority of us might not be looking at statistics that casinos have for us, on how much we win or how much we lost in a given day. At least for me though I do check and see if I need to stop or reset because I'm losing so much money.
