Although I have read some persons comment here and those comments doesn't really seat well with me, why because they said that there are no different between an investor and a spot trader. Well  I won't argue much, because the difference is clear, yet some person's here have refused to acknowledge it. now I will tell you guys the difference between a trader and an investor, because you can't call a trader an investor,  the distinction is clear even if a trader decide to hold the asset he or she is trading due to decline in price for some days. and what is difference between  traders and an investor's? the distinction is mainly about the approach and goals. so their mindset is what makes them different, traders focus on short term gain and not long term gain, traders often buy and sell crypto asset frequently and this is just within a minute an hour and a day. while investors  are people with longer view they buy assets and hold, let's say for a month, six months, a year, and even a decades.

We all have different perspectives. Even I might somewhere agree that a trader and an investors are way different but the main motto for both will be to invest in the markets and gain profits from the market fluctuations. Some here might even hold their positions for way longer duration but they still will be considered as a trader and not an investor because these traders will still be looking for opportunities to make profits even if there is a slight pump and they will not care offloading their positions only because they are able to make some quick profits and they can invest that money again in trading if they find any better opportunity again.

Investors on the other hand will hold the positions for a fixed duration of time and will not care in checking their investments very often. I think the emotions here will be a major differentiator when it comes to trader or an investor.

Stop loss is the most important thing i would say that you should be having when doing trading. Why? there are tons of traders who had messed up their lives because of having no stop losses and ending up on having suicide just because they had lost everything. There are instances that they do put up all of their life savings into it without even thinking on what are the potential risks that they are that putting on and later on when the market gets sour or making up a correction on which it liquidated their positions then this is where they would be having those kind of realizations. Actually its not that a surprising thing yet trading will be always having the profiting side and there are those who are losing side. Traders are actively making use of their money on trading up on different market options while investor could be considered out to those who had been holding up for a specific period or time span.

When you do deal up with trading then it could be neither spot or futures trading and with those types then you are the ones will be finding out on what kind or type of trader you are to choose on. The reason for this question is that if a trader who trade on spots is left behind by the market in the case of price decline, that trader would be forced to HODL waiting for the market to recover before selling to make profit... I understand what you meant but you are not putting it the right way, a trader trade by acquiring a coin, and once the coin appreciate in value, he sell to make profit, because anything that makes a person buys and sell for quick profit makes that person a trader, he did not invest, but he traded the market and makes a profit.

When a traders money get stuck in a trade, the only situation is for him to cut his loss and move on or he has no other options than to wait till the value of the coin he bought appreciate back.
So if a trader mental health is affected while trading, then that person is not trading with an amount he can afford to lose, because it's only when you trade with such amount that you can not afford to lose that it will affect you and your mental health.

This has been talked a lot, it's time to not just compare these, but time to put them in a battle to see which one gets better. The end result is simple ,if you are a great trader than you make more money than an investor, but if you are a bad trader then you make less than an investor.

So the smart move would be invest when you are starting out, use that earning you make to learn how to trade with the profits, if you lose then you only lost the profits and then keep repeating this anytime you are in profit, and if you are not in profit and it's bear market then wait for however long you need to, years if you have to and then you can start trading again when market recovers. Do this and you will become a good trader.

As a matter of fact, a hodler doesn't need to have a skill to hodl bitcoins, all he needs to do is to hold on for his dear life while also taking note of some security measures. That's right, but there are other basic things that investors need to learn before they get started, and the very first thing is to know which wallet or exchange they should use, they should know how they can secure their assets so that their wallets or exchange accounts are not compromised, they should learn that they shouldn't keep their funds in centralized platform for very long, especially if the funds are significant in amount, and there are a bunch of other things that a person should know and understand before they make an investment.

Most newbie investors these days overlook the importance of these things, because they are basic, but even though these are very basic things, they are extremely important for someone to understand for them to stay safe with their investments. If they are not interested in trading, they don't need to learn everything about the market or analysis and stuff as you mentioned, but they will still need to know how they can use exchanges, wallets, how they can make transactions, etc.

My simple response is that they are the same.

If you buy your assets directly into your wallet or use the spot trading feature, they are still the same thing since you are buying your assets regardless. That doesn't change. The only difference, or perhaps what looks like a difference, is the system structure and the word "trading" attached to spot trading, but you are actually buying your crypto asset to own it as well by using spot trading, so it now depends on you whether you will HODL or keep it for the short term.

However, spot trading helps you manage your assets better than normal buying. You have access to extra features like limits, liquidation price, etc.

Becoming spot traders and investors essentially have the same goal: to earn profits in the crypto business industry. As investors, there are only two types: long-term and short-term holders. Because the entry point for investors and traders is essentially the same.

And when we act as traders, they are also divided into two categories, just like investors. Traders simply choose which category they want to trade in either futures or spot. If you want to be a cautious trader or investor, you should stick to spot trading. Futures trading, on the other hand, carries a much higher risk compared to spot trading. All people are facing different kind of situation in life and people are successful who are doing trade with no tension. We know that if a person have a tension of money he will try to be greedy and will take more risk and most of the chances if will lose more  because market always is not in the favour of that kind of people.

Most spot traders become investors at some point, this is the way or system to become an investor from a spot trader. However, without a long-term plan, you cannot get the real benefits of direct investment or become a real investor. Futures or margin trading uses leverage, so the risk is higher than spot trading, so short-term investment is not really effective.

Futures or margin traders can never be called as an investor. They will always posses the characteristics of a trader because they are using high risk strategies to gain profits out of trading. But yes, spot traders might be considered as an investor because even investors will have the same characteristics. They will invest in the markets by putting their money in few specific coin and will hold for a longer duration which even the spot traders might do.

I think the major break through here will be to consider if the person is holding their funds on exchanges or in wallets. If one has all his funds on exchanges than I won't mind calling him a trader but if all money is held on wallets than he/she will definitely be an investor.

That's a very good idea... Since wallet provides only a room for storing (HODL) but one can easily convert his assets to a stablecoin if the market swings unfavourably...

Spot trading and investing use the same asset but very different mindsets, a spot trader cares about entries, exits, and protecting capital, an investor cares about fundamentals and long term value, when price drops and a trader holds, it’s usually emotional not strategic.

Trader and investor may be different but if a spot trader has made a loss in his trading due to market fluctuations, in this case he can wait for his loss to be fully recovered and if the market recovers in that case he can sell without trading profit or can sell with some profit but in this case he can be called a short term investor or a trader. Besides, I am not giving much difference outside of this so it is not a difference it is the coordination between a short term trader and a short term investor.
