As the title says, what's your top pick for a Hardware Wallet? And why? Is it because it's cheap yet secure? Simple and easy to use? Impossible to break 'cause it's literally a hardware?
I will prefer to use Trezor; I will explain why from my perspective. I have been using two hardware wallets, Ledger and Trezor. Though the Ledger has a lot of controversy, it is one of the old and trusted companies. So the first hardware wallet, Ledger gave me the first hardware wallet experience. Lately even their devices have been giving trouble due to low-quality battery issues. Not sure if it's a business policy to sell new devices on the market. So overall experience isn't better with the Ledger, except for the user-friendly interface. Also, that's a closed-source wallet, which is a big red flag. Hence, I don't prefer Ledger.
Trezor is an open-source hardware wallet that supports a lot of coins. It doesn't matter if they added shitcoins or not, but you have an option to choose which coins you will store. The Trezor user interface is also pretty easy, the same as Ledger. I think the price is almost similar for Trezor and Ledger. But I feel safe when using Trezor, and since there is no battery, you can use your device longer, unlike Ledger. We really don't need to buy every new model device. This isn't something to show up, so the longer life of the device is more important to me. Hence, I prefer to purchase Trezor.
If any hardware wallet stops their service, it shouldn't be an issue for you. You can simply move your funds to another wallet since you can recover your wallet on supported wallet software. Yes, it's a waste of money for end users, so it's better to purchase a reputable company's wallet. Trezor is one of the reputed companies.
