Why is Trump hostile against Venezuela

According to Trump, he said Venezuela is dumping their prisoners in United States and that drugs like fentanyl is smuggled from.m Venezuela to the United States.

I saw online that United States seized 65% of drugs that enter the country through land crossing, 28% through airports and 5% at sea (which will likely be how Venezuela are smuggling the drugs into United States). I make findings if fentanyl is produced in Mexico, the answer is yes and land crossing will be dominant.

I still do not know the reason United States is attacking the country. Is there a good reason United States is attacking Venezuela?

To me, everything the US has done so far has been political, including attacking Venezuela or wanting to intervene in Nigeria. Every reason they give is just an excuse for them to intervene in these countries without international condemnation, nothing more.

Venezuela is the country with the world's largest oil reserves, and many other mineral resources. Moreover, in recent years they have had quite close relations with China and intend to join BRICS. Therefore, it is not difficult to understand why Trump is hostile and wants to intervene in this country. All the US wants is to stop any Chinese expansion in continents where the US and its allies are losing influence.

Yes, I saw the news few weeks ago, that they told his most trusted pilot to divert the plane to a place they (United States) will arrest the Venezuelan president, but the pilot did not betray him.

I did not know about this. I have known Trump trying to attack countries that wants to have relationship with BRICS. If you are a BRICS member or partner and vulnerable, expect some harshness from Trump.

Venezuela is an oil rich country that has suffered lot's of Sanctions from the American Government, I think is majorly because of some bad leaders they've had and how the American Government have consistently complained on how their leaders have mismanaged their resources considering how wealthy the country is, and it's the same reason why the country have recently had a revolution. The fentanyl drugs too can largely be smuggled through Mexican since they have a close border with American and are well known to have strong drug cartels before know. So by mere proximity, we should be tilting towards mexico as a major drug danger than Venezuela, but we already have a case of giving a dog a bad name before eliminating it, and that is what Venezuela is suffering from.

When the leaders of the country are corrupt and unstable in their ways, it will give outsiders the opportunity to interfere in their internal affairs uninvited. I am from Nigeria and my government too is getting same threat from Trump.  My government leaders share a greater part of the blame for being so careless to the extent of getting such threats.

What thing I do know is that Trump has his interest in Venezuela and Nigeria because if he had no interest he was pursuing, he wouldn't be so invested in these two countries.

Corruption and electoral rigging are anti-people. Corruption causes poverty, crime and other problems that cause suffering. Electoral rigging keeps the people in a bandage since they cannot determine who leads them. If it is true that Nicolas Maduro is corrupt and he rigged elections, he deserves to be removed from government by all means.

You don’t have to be from Venezuela to know that the US’ interest in that nation is entirely self-serving. The US couldn't care less that your leaders are corrupt or that people are suffering. Ukraine is often ranked among the most corrupt countries in Europe. Israel’s human rights abuses are well documented. These countries still get billions of dollars from the US, not to mention all the other autocratic and violent regimes they are fine doing business with.

I did not know about this. I have known Trump trying to attack countries that wants to have relationship with BRICS. If you are a BRICS member or partner and vulnerable, expect some harshness from Trump.

Once they are done with Venezuela, I would not be surprised to see them move on to intervene in Nigeria and Africa. Because their close ally France is being pushed out of most African countries like Burkina Faso, Niger or Senegal. Not stopping there, the presence of Russia and China on this continent is increasingly dense.

Their allies have completely failed and the US needs to intervene to strengthen its position and stop the expansion of Russia, China and BRICS.

The French being driven out of Africa and the US stepping in reminds me of what happened in the Asian country of Vietnam. When the British and French colonialists were defeated miserably, the US intervened later, but ultimately accepted a similarly miserable defeat.

Thanks for giving a cleaner picture regarding the underlying reasons why Trump, has interest in Maduro, and Venezuela, in general, the US will present a narrative why they are hostile or have interest in a country. But if you look critically there is always an ulterior interest for them, they want to indirectly tap from their interested country's natural resources and kill any alliances with key brics nations. The same allegation is on Trump, that he wants to invade Nigeria, because of it's mineral resources but using christian genocide in the country as an excuse. A little digression from the topic, as a Nigerian i won't mind American intervention in my country if our government is not up to the task of fighting terrorism.

Thanks for the clearer insight, especially from someone experiencing this fast hand from Venezuela. To be honest, I hate modern day politicians will all my heart and if there was a way this modern politics was to be abolished, this world would be in a much better place especially for the "developing" countries

People talk about the Oil reserves, but that alone is not a reason for a full-scale invasion, even for a person like Trump. There's got to be more to it. Under Maduro and his predecessor, Hugo Chávez, the Venezuelan economy has declined drastically. In just 5 years, the amount of oil per barrel they produce per day has shrunk from about 3.2 million per day to less than a million a day. But this alone is not enough to warrant the kind of attack Trump is preparing for. I know it's obvious that it's not the drug trafficking, I mean, anybody who can read should understand that.
It leaves me with one answer: China. 20% of Venezuelan oil heads to the US, but about 70% goes to China. This means China is having too much dominance in America's backyard.
This might also be a show of force by America. A message to other Latin American countries that they shouldn't "fuck with the US".
