Do you think someday we'll see dealerships accepting crypto payments at a large scale? Or is it still too early to tell? Would stablecoins be a better choice than crypto for this kind of transaction? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

In my country, I have not seen a dealer or have I heard of any dealer accepting crypto as payment and make it public. But I believe that if someone is willing to make a payment in Bitcoin with some dealers, they will accept it.I have seen online that there are some car manufacturers that were accepting Bitcoin as payment, like Tesla. I don't know about now, but Tesla was accepting Bitcoin some years back.

The adoption of crypto is increasing and almost everyone are getting aware about crypto, especially Bitcoin, so people are already beginning to accept Bitcoin as payment. In fact, there are many places where Bitcoin is being accepted as payment, and that is how it will gradually continue to increase.

well i have a car dealerhsip in ghana and i accept crypto ,i have sold 15 cars by accepting crypto including G wagon and most luxury cars .

Which crypto precisely is the dealer accepting, Bitcoin, stable coin or others? Well, it is highly possible for this to happen especially with Bitcoin and stable coin but crypto being legally or illegally used in such country may determine if this could happen. Such is highly easy to occur in a crypto friendly country like UAE compare to Nepal or Iraq where crypto is highly prohibited (ban).

Buying cars with bitcoin isn't possible in most part of the world. The reason is that not many popular cars brand accept cryptocurrency at the moment, however this may change in next 5 to 10 years.

Secondly the car dealers also wouldn't accept crypto because first they don't want to accept the currency which isn't legal everywhere and also since bitcoin price is volatile, if one get BTC for car and then the BTC dumps, it may cause significant damage to the one who accepts bitcoin.

I don't think volatility would be much of a concern. Especially if car dealers accept Bitcoin through a centralized payment processor. They would convert the BTC to Fiat "on the fly" at the moment of the transaction. What they worried about is governments getting on their tail for accepting a currency which is NOT legal tender. Only on countries with an authoritarian regime.

Most of the world's countries don't have a problem with Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency, so they will allow anyone to accept it as payment method as long as taxes are paid in return. This is the most important part. Because if taxes are missed or evaded through crypto, "it will be hell to pay". I'm sure more dealers will accept crypto payments in the future. We'll see what happens.

It's possible that Bitcoin could one day be used as a payment method for car purchases, but stablecoins would be the most viable option. Stablecoins are crucial because they offer instant payments, which makes them important for transactions. Their stable price is ideal for payments, while Bitcoin remains volatile and its price fluctuates rapidly, making it less suitable as a primary payment method.

There are places I have seen and heard of, like lagos were dealer will accept crypto in the value of what you are buying, and it will have to be in usdt since it gives the same reading as dollars, and most cars are sold in that currency, and even in the case of those manufacturers, they will have a specific type of crypto that they accept and i think it was tesla that was accepting Dogecoin as a means of payment, but i think it was suspended.

Quote
The adoption of crypto is increasing and almost everyone are getting aware about crypto, especially Bitcoin, so people are already beginning to accept Bitcoin as payment. In fact, there are many places where Bitcoin is being accepted as payment, and that is how it will gradually continue to increase.

And it is good that people are accepting Bitcoin. A lot of people had the wrong meaning of bitcoin investment because they had had a lot of failed experiences in Ponzi, so it took people time to actually accept it and even accept it as a means of payment, and the adoption of bitcoin will keep increasing as it is now.

Stablecoins depend on the network which it’s transacted on that will determine how fast the payment will take to reach the receiver’s hand, bitcoin network the seller might want for the coin to undergo some number of confirmations before they will consider the payment valid to avoid double spending problem, but that’s not the only thing that will make stabecoins more suitable for such payment regulatory measures could also be another reason since the stable coins are just the united state dollar on a digital form.

I have seen many car dealers here in my country accepting Bitcoin and USDT or other known cryptocurrencies, this is not new and have been around for a while now, even in countries where crypto is not fully legalize we have some car dealers who still accept Bitcoin and crypto as payment in proxy, although this have a lot to do with trust in the end and only special customers get such treatments from the dealers shop.

I found a really helpful broker that specialise in this transaction. CryptoAutos

I know it sounds crazy, but wouldn't it be great to just go to a dealership and buy a car with your crypto (particularly, Bitcoin)? Not sure how governments will react to this, especially if a large payment is made through a decentralized Blockchain network. And don't let me get started on the taxes.

Do you think someday we'll see dealerships accepting crypto payments at a large scale? Or is it still too early to tell? Would stablecoins be a better choice than crypto for this kind of transaction? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is exaclt where CryptoAutos come in. We are a financial institution allowing the transaction of crypto for cars in dealerships. Check us out at www.cryptoautos.com

Bitcoin was created to serve as alternative currency, so if companies are beginning to accept bitcoin as payment method, I don’t think there is anything bad in it, and I don’t think their is anything surprising about it. Already we have companies accepting bitcoin as payment method, we already have some car companies accepting bitcoin, so it’s not something new. I don’t understand what you mean by it’s too early, I don’t think there is anything early about bitcoin. I don’t know why you think stable coin is better, at least you should give a reason for you saying that.

Companies might be accepting Bitcoin but are very many people actually paying with it?

For the time being, that is clearly quite impossible in my country. There are regulations stating that Bitcoin is classified solely as a commodity asset. While it is permitted as a digital asset, it cannot be used as a means of payment, as the Rupiah is the only legal tender. So, I am certain that if others found out about this, the government or relevant authorities would immediately come looking for me, and I would have to answer for it. because I was deemed to have violated the rules in force in that country.

Depending on the country in question and how their government treats crypto, if they don't consider it to be a recognized payment option, then the dealer won't be allowed to accept such, and if it's recognized, then the tax report won't be a problem since they have to document all their income, and whatever means they use in paying can still be reported for tax if they want to unless they want to evade tax, and it's not usually good for business.
Bitcoin is decentralized no government can pinpoint a car dealer accepting bitcoin as payment in his or her shop unless someone tells government, so whether a country allows it citizens to use bitcoin or not people in that country can decide to accept bitcoin in their car shops if they want, even in Nigeria where government doesn't allow it citizens to freely use bitcoin, there was a time when accessing Naira (fiat) was a big problem, people who knows how to use bitcoin were accepting bitcoin as payment in their businesses to make things somewhat easy for bitcoiners.

Even if the government bans the use of Bitcoin, you can still accept Bitcoin in your business if you want. But you'd definitely have to deal with the legal risks if you get caught.

I don't know what the situation is like in your country, but in places with strict laws, no business is gonna be stupid enough to go against the government just for Bitcoin and put their whole business at risk. Because accepting Bitcoin may not bring enough benefit to the business to make those risk worth it.

However I think it depends on the part of the world that you’re coming from, likewise I have seen some car dealers company accepting cryptocurrency most especially bitcoin for their car dealings transactions, countries were cryptocurrency transactions aren’t legalized, but I’m also thinking of car manufacturing companies it would be good that such companies like Ferrari, Mercedes, Porsche, Lamborghini and so on, I don’t know if this companies accept cryptocurrency currency as payments, but if they can adopt Bitcoin as a means of transaction that would be a huge development.

There are already a few brands on your list that accept Bitcoin, but mostly through dealers rather than across their entire global network.

Ferrari was one of the first to make the move, partnering with BitPay to accept BTC, ETH and USDC in the US in 2023, then expanding to Europe in 2024/7.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/ferrari-bitcoin-payments-europe-july-2024

Lamborghini and Porsche also have some dealers that accept Bitcoin, but it's still mostly limited to certain dealers, especially in the US.

It happening some where as we discuss only that it is not common as it looks with stablecoins acceptance for such deals. And as you know it that the business owner will only be willing to accept a digital currency as only if he is enlighten about it.

You know how volatile Bitcoin is and many businesses do not want to deal with the volatility tide but a small set of them do accept and convert to stable currency asap.

Crypto or stablecoins they all can go with as payment gateway. Lot of companies in some countries are already accepting them all.

You know how volatile Bitcoin is and many businesses do not want to deal with the volatility tide but a small set of them do accept and convert to stable currency asap.

Crypto or stablecoins they all can go with as payment gateway. Lot of companies in some countries are already accepting them all.
There are businesses that accept Bitcoin as payment, but only supermarkets, even big dealers that deal multi million dollar deals do use Bitcoin as means of payment.

If they don’t become versatile to accept several means of payment, it means they are not ready for business because some people can have Bitcoin and will want to use it direct to purchase goods online or somewhere, they don’t need to pass through the stress of converting the Bitcoin into stable coins before the buy they purchase car or anything, and it is good and will increase Bitcoin adoption globally.

It is now let for the business person to swap or convert the Bitcoin into stable coin due to crypto market volatility, and they can as well start their investment journey from there.

But if you are in a country where you are assessed tax upon buying something with your BTC then generally most will not use it.

Although not all companies offer the opportunity to buy cars with crypto, Elon Musk's Tesla has been offering it privately for a long time. Although it would not be wrong to say crypto here because they only accepted Doge. However, although many have the desire and ability but due to KYC and the government's tax laws and the reluctance of company owners people in all countries are still not able to enjoy this opportunity. Such a purchase was shown in a video of a shop in Dubai on social media, although it may have been a promotional video. However, many known customers can get this benefit by dealing with the company owner by keeping their personal privacy intact.

There are some private companies that might offer this opportunities of buying from them with cryptocurrency but since they aren’t popular and known by everyone like the Tesla company and others no body have the ideas of what going on. Even some local shops or stores offers this service of accepting crypto but it not made publicly it just an interaction between the buyer and seller because no body to make the promotion and the company haven’t reach the standard to offer a public promotions and be popular like those Tesla and other bigger brands.
I agree with you that some companies are willing to accept this cryptocurrency but they can’t make it public due to the regulations of their country which haven’t fully accepted cryptocurrency.

If a country does not allow cryptocurrency, then there is no opportunity to buy anything with crypto whenever you want in that country. No company can directly offer such an offer and if someone tries to do it, it can be secretly, not publicly. It may also be that a businessman wants to increase his investment in crypto, which is why he can accept crypto and give his customers that amount of money through his product. However, it is not possible for established businesses to provide such benefits if they follow the rules given by the government well. However, if you list small companies, the number of them can certainly be many who do not advertise that they accept crypto payments but they also accept crypto from some customers secretly. That is why I would say that those who do not have the legality of crypto in their country will never be able to take such an opportunity.
