P2P Trading Hits a Rough Patch

Seriously, if you have been really using p2p in Nigeria lately, you must have seen how things keep getting worse instead of things getting better. If you've been trading recently, then I am very sure you already know what I am talking about. Strange and funny "advertiser terms" everywhere, the whole thing is just somehow that you'll even be asking if this is a real financial platform. Seriously it's becoming more like a stressful market than a cryptocurrency marketplace.

Imagine what some advertisers are putting as their so-called terms😏.


 


1. Drop Your Phone Number or I Won't Pay.
Ahh bruh... It's the audacity for me? Since when did giving out numbers become a condition for completing a trade? You see this act alone shows how unserious some traders are. This is how they want to drag you off the platform to start twisting your head. ZERO PROFESSIONALISM.

2. I Do Not Pay Completely.
Lol.. this one just weak me. Just imagine someone telling you proudly that he will not pay you full, daytime robbery 🤣. And they'll expect me to continue trade with them like everything is normal?  UNSERIOUSNESS.

3. If You Cancel, I Will Click Mark As Paid.
This one even worse. See at this point you will know that this person is not here to trade, they will just stress and frustrate your life.

4. Please Drop Positive Review.
Positive review for what exactly? For insults that you have already typed inside your terms? Forcing and begging for review so that new users will think you're a legit person and enter problem?

Bro.. why is p2p ad now looking as if people are writing love letters? All these kind of things shouldn't be happening in a financial transaction involving real money. A very serious marchant should not be sounding like someone that is begging for transport fare at the motor park.

So What's The Real Issue?

P2P  is just rough these days.
No standard
No discipline
Anyone can just create an advert, adding unnecessary terms, begging, threatening and even adding their own fees.

Sellers just dey unserious
Buyer too just dey do anyhow.
And new traders are the ones suffering the most
And the platform is just not helping with anything solid.

Until the platform sets better guidelines and removes all these marketplace comedians, p2p will just remain the way it is: inside gutter.

To save yourself the stress, read the terms of service of the person that has the ad.

If you want to exchange, make it round figures like 20000, 50000, 70000, 100000 naira and so on. With this, the buyer will think two times before sending money but most likely the buyer will send the right amount. Use other exchanges and not stay on one like Bybit but compare them.

I do not care about any ad, if the payment is not complete, I am not releasing any coin. 300 naira is what I may overlook, but you will see them not paying more than 2500 naira or more.

I do not really see anything bad here except for the user that says he charges #300 as service fee due to bank charges, and again it's your right to decline him or not. Trading is not a thing of must or something you must want to deal with that person with all things possible, you can select another advertiser or someone whom you finds your term and service worthy enough than using someone whom you are not trusted or reliable of their terms of services.

What I does is that I do skip those with much terms and look for someone whom I think I can trade without having any issues at last.

You are still using p-2-p right, even with all the funny an stressful Term and conditions? Well so many other are still using it as well. Other online ventures apart from p-2-p, we will still see such things like this. This is why the tasks falls to those who are traders and users of this platform, one have to open their eyes and also be very careful. Truth is in every bad ggs, there are still some good eggs, this incude this p-2-p vendors, so if you encounter such vendors that their terms and conditions dont sit well with you, you can simply look for other vendors to trade with it just as simple and straightforward as that.

Structure your post properly. Every now and then you guys are always complaining about tags racism and other shit when you are still the ones painting yourself that way. You made a topic tarnishing the image of Nigerians on P2P exchanges then at the end of the day when people outside this board use those same words on you you'll pick offence.

I've been on the internet long enough and I've had more people from other countries like Bangladesh, India and a few others try to scam me even more offen than Nigerians.  Have you dealt with unethical Asians before? I guess not else you will understand scam is not by race.

My dear you're right ooo, true true nobody is forcing anyone to trade with these kind of people with funny ads, and skipping them is really the best thing to do. But my main problem of pointing out all these funny terms is because, it's becoming too common. New users might not know what to avoid and they will end up falling into trouble.

The #300 charge is even better ooo, but this drop your number, I won't pay full and I'll mark as paid type of vibes that is really turning the whole place messy. That is what I am really pointing out.

Thanks for adding some manners to the topic. Otherwise, @Mia Chloe was right in the remarks she made even though I understand that you, OP, meant well.

I experienced something similar some days back and the P2p merchant was actually pleading to pay me 2k short. As how na? I asked him o, and he was bargaining to pay 1.5k. Ah Ah! I quipped. Abeg cancel the transaction, I no agree o. He jejely just cancelled the transaction and another merchant delivered me that day.

It is not their fault though because the price of BTC is down yet they are trying to highjack the excuse to pay lesser than the agreed price.

Anyone trading P2p transactions should be extra careful this days because you may have merchants from anywhere in the world trying to highjack the system or make you lose all to your ignorance or carelessness. Be smart!

Point taken, and you are right scams happen everywhere. I was not really trying to blame anyone tho, I was just talking about stuff that I've seen on P2P. Bad actors are not just from one place.

Fact is as long as money is involved you'll definitely find or in better terms deal with unethical people sometimes. All you have to do is avoid them and be properly informed. Simply save yourself the stress and use vendors to with high completion rate and always swap to USDT if you wanna save yourself the hassle of trash talks.

Bybit is aware of these shitty things but they are doing nothing. Better still you can use institutional bots they pay faster and have a good rate. My base point was scam is everywhere and don't make it seem unique to the Nigerian community.

I won't place emphasis on this topic (severally discussed), if P2P threat can't be corrected from the exchange learn to entertain them.

It is easy to understand ways they operate, which is left for you to displace them at their agenda.

Simply as it gets, if they are not willing to pay the right amount, either they cancel or allow the waiting time to to elapse.

Op, since you are advised to always read the terms and conditions of a merchant before opening a trade, I don't see anything wrong with the terms and conditions of the merchants that are in your post because if you aren't okay with the terms and conditions of the merchants, it's your duty to ignore the merchants and look for the merchant whose terms and conditions are okay for you to open a trade with.

This no be something that is just recently happening. OP are you just noticing that of recent? The people that hit the rough patch are those that doesn’t read the buyers ad first.
They can have all the audacity and the exchange don’t see anything wrong in that, na you go either leave that buyer and move to another or you use them like that.
This thing no be wetin make P2P trading to hit a rough patch.

In p2p trading you can use any other exchange that you may think is better than bybit because it has turned to scamming zone where you wouldn't know whom is who in that place, moreover they are implementing some strict laws that I am not that comfortable with it, so whenever I found that your terms are not suitable to me then I don't even place order because I know that at last it might either result to problems and me not also receiving the required funds and when he clicked or marked or paid order after some moment you would see Bybit releasing the fund automatically as this has happened to me before.
