How strict are you with units really?

I mean, actually being strict. I always say I’m disciplined like 1u max per play, flat bets only, all the usual rules. But then Monday Night Football rolls around, I’m down 3u from the weekend, and suddenly a “lean” turns into a 2.5u sweat on some WR over.

It’s funny I’ve gotten a lot sharper with line shopping and pricing (shoutout to whoever recommended Bet105; dealing -105s has genuinely changed how I manage volume), but discipline? Still very much a work in progress.

So I’m curious: what does your unit management look like in real life? Flat bettor? Scaler? More of a “whatever feels right” type? And more importantly, how do you stay disciplined when the board is calling your name?

I'm always very disciplined but can do one or two greedy bets per month when I'm very sure about something and want to potentialize my winnings and that mean from 2u to 4u.

Sometimes this goes wrong and I lose more than I should but I can always go back to the disciplined betting and in the long term I can win more than I lose, so only needs time to get back where I was and before I did a bad bet

You can't bet without control because then the risk is much higher and most people lose everything in the end

If you find it hard maintaining units in your gambling habits, an option is always to try and not actually deposit the full amount you're going to gamble with for a whole period like a month.

Try instead depositing unit by unit. Most gambling sites these days allow even very small deposits with no or minuscule deposit fees if you can't find such offers to deposit in the site yo're at then try a different one! This is a big quality of life thing in terms of gambling so sites should offer it.

I take it extremely seriously, I always bet exactly the amount I plan, only increasing my bankroll when I manage to double it thanks to profits. For example, when I have $10, I bet $1 on each bet with odds above 1.50, so when my bankroll exceeds $20 I start betting $20 on each bet, when my bankroll exceeds $40 then I start betting $4 on each bet. I've been doing it this way. Of course, we're dealing with games of chance, so winning is a difficult task, which is why my bankroll rarely doubles. But the most important thing is my discipline, which has been good.

I'm in the  “Whatever feels right” category. But it's not by choice because I really want to adopt a structure that would provide me some long term results because I've come to realise that longevity is very important in the gambling journey. Last year, I had a mini period where I had fixed amount for each game as well as the odds because I play sportsbooks primary and looking back to those moments, I think I prefer fixed amount per bet than going with whatever feels right

This days, it takes being a very disciplined person to stay discipline in gambling, things change alot, I don't know how it is with other gamblers out there, so I can only speak of myself, it is very easy to drift from a plan to doing something else, like having a limit of amount I want to spend on gambling every week, and in some weeks, I get greedy to end up spending more than normal..

But when I go overboard like this, i try as much as possible to say off gambling completely in the next coming week as a way to replace the extra fund I spend the other week..
This was for when I was still very active in gambling though, this days, I hardly have any extra fund to spend on gambling because shits got harder, the economic situation in my country won't allow someone who's with family and not earning enough to have extra fund for gambling 😁 so I guess family have become my new reason for staying disciplined with gambling, whoever is not addicted to gambling and have something very important they are chasing and wanting to achieve will have to choice but to limit how much they spend on gambling, especially when the person isnt the lucky type..

Flat bettor, applying scaling on bets is something that I don’t preferred since I don’t have an excellent talent when it comes to sports prediction.

I rely to 1:1 analysis to bet ratio when placing bet on sportsbook to guarantee that I can minimize risk while still enjoying this game that I don’t have an expertise.

I only increase my bet on different occasion when I have high confidence on the match not when I’m already losing on my previous bet.

I consider myself to be quite strict and disciplined with comes to bankroll management and sticking to my budget. I lean towards using FIAT or stable coins whenever I feel like having a little bit of fun on casinos, so it is easier for me to keep control other the units I deposit and lose over time.
I divide my budget at least in ten units and gamble only one unit or half unit at the same time, so I can extend the time of my session as long as possible, without losing any thrill sensation.

Sometimes the key not to lose discipline is not to increase the units gambled after experiencing a loss... It can set all our budget and managing into disarray.

I keep a certain amount of money available for gambling, and whether I make a profit or not, I stop and only come back another day. Today, for example, I gambled and lost everything I was willing to gamble... a loss, and that's okay, life goes on... no need to chase after it to recover... the point is to always live one day at a time when gambling...

I am one of those sports bettors who bet on whatever I feel.

I don't know why, but there are times when I feel like it is a sure bet, and I believe it's going to win. That's when I make higher bets than my normal ones, although I still want to follow the amount that I've gotten used to.
It's not chasing the previous losses because I moved on from that. It's more like an instinct that I will win a particular game. I am not super strict with the amount, but there's still a bracket on how far I will go. I believe that's very important as a gambler.
