Ever heard someone say that bitcoin is environmentally damaging? Next time you could mention how bitcoin miners found another way to use their utilities.

https://www.cnbc.com/2025/11/16/bitcoin-crypto-mining-home-heating-energy-bills.html
Quote
During a frigid snap earlier this year, The New York Times reviewed HeatTrio, a $900 space heater that also doubles as a bitcoin mining rig. Others use the heat from their own in-home cryptocurrency mining to spread warmth throughout their house.

“I’ve seen bitcoin rigs running quietly in attics, with the heat they generate rerouted through the home’s ventilation system to offset heating costs. It’s a clever use of what would otherwise be wasted energy,” said Jill Ford, CEO of Bitford Digital, a sustainable bitcoin mining company based in Dallas.

Who says bitcoin is wasting energy and can't be allies to the environment? They are trying to utilize crypto mining to provide heat for residential buildings.

Quote
“We’re working with partners who are already redirecting compute heat into building heating systems and even agricultural greenhouse warming. That’s where the economics and environmental benefits make real sense,” Sobko said. “Instead of trying to move the heat physically, you move the compute closer to where that heat provides value,”

As far as I know, about 50 or a bit more % of electricity used by the miners comes from wind, hydro, solar or nuclear power. Here is a bit more on that: link.

So, the invention is a good development in that regard, but all the FUD about environmental print is just fud.

Bitcoin mining is good in the winter but don't forget that not all countries are cold, some are like a living hell, it is always hot weather and you running a Miner that generates heat means you need to find a way to dispense and direct heat away from your home or farm.

Heating home is not even enough reason to say that Bitcoin is good for the environment, some families in texas United States are complaining about the noise that a large Bitcoin mining farm is generating and those families constint of older men and women.

Mining can disturb the environment if the farm is very big, if you want to build a very large farm make sure you take them far away from the community, if you are in the shoe to these people you will feel their cry too, Noise is the only issue I have with Asic miners.

The more you keep adding more miners the higher the noises becomes

I commend individuals and organisations that are creatively recycling mining heat. But what is the possibility that this $900 space heater/Bitcoin miner will mine a Bitcoin block? I don't know who mining works but I think that you need more powerful mining machines for a solo miner to mine a Bitcoin block.

Before buying such multipurpose heating machines, the person should consider the cost of electricity. I might only buy this machine if the cost of heating is the same as the amount this machine will consume in heating the home. So that I will be paying for my heating and hoping that I might be lucky to mine a block.

Sounds like a reasonable demand, and I do think there are should be some kind of laws / details of which if there is such a noise 24/7 in a proximity to somebody living near you, they would be able to take action regardless, sooner or later Grin Grin

I wish there was an air conditioner that could also mine Bitcoin. I would buy one in a heartbeat and so would many other people living in hot countries.

Of course, this implies that coolness is emitted from the system as a result of the mining operation. Something which is unheard of in technology. Sad

Who says bitcoin is wasting energy and can't be allies to the environment? They are trying to utilize crypto mining to provide heat for residential buildings.

Bitcoin mining rigs do produce heat, but I don't think the heat generated by these rigs is so effective that it can be considered a practical or primary solution for heating large buildings or replacing conventional heating systems. Using these rigs to heat a room is less efficient, and it's still more effective to use a conventional heater.

Furthermore, the noise generated by mining rigs can be disruptive in residential areas, as you might need more rigs just to generate enough heat to warm your building. Another problem is that if the heat generated isn't sufficient, you might have difficulty capturing and distributing heat evenly throughout the room.

So, in theory, it might be easier said than done in practice.

That kind of cooling from mining would require a tech similar to a heat pump or refrigeration cycle.. And yeah, it's not currently developed as far as I know, sadly.

Yep, and I doubt it will be that way, and because the machine is not suited for mining blocks, but rather combine two needed things into one device.

Bitcoin's value comes from mining, from energy. It can't work without that.

You can print any currency, as a central bank or as a token emitent, you can stake many tokens. But you can't print or stake energy.

Do what you must and come what may.
