Can scammed bitcoin be recovered?

I was on Quora site reading some news and I came across these story https://globalassetrecoveryalliancesspace3.quora.com/I-was-scammed-30-4-BTC-from-Discord-How-do-I-recover-my-funds of a woman who claimed she was scammed  of over $55,000 in bitcoin and at the end of the story, she said it was later recovered which I do not totally believe it because from the little I have read about bitcoin, when a transaction is marked and confirmed by a block as successful it is almost impossible to recover and I would love to know if it is possible to recover scammed funds sent through bitcoin and confirmed on the blockchain?

What if she did it through centralized services? I mean, she got said coins from it and got it back from it.. But I doubt it truly happened.

I was about to post something similar to what Hazink posted and I wanted to ask if the woman leave a means people can communicate with her but Hazink posted that her email is visible. She will expect people to message her through email and which is a possible means of scam.

For some reasons, I believe what you just proposed about this case. I can't even find the post from the link on the OP, and that's also another big reason. Might have also been one of the rage click bait all over the Internet (since she couldn't even produce any prove of funds for this whole story).

That's not a woman behind the email, neither is that a genuine, secure source email for one person on particular. Just one of their spams that got reactions.

Chance recovery for bitcoin scammed I think quite small and almost impossible, the scammer have been smart nowadays never withdraw bitcoin scammed to CEX exchange because easily tracking and make their account seized and easily tracking by policemen. Nowadays if some one get scammed with bitcoin assets the scammer will sent to mixer site how to make difficult tracking by any one else before sent back to CEX exchange market.

Looks the quora thread have been deleted and I want to know detail more what happen with that women got scammed with his bitcoin assets and telling has recovery back. All I can say is that these whole story shows it's all scam. Do not be deceived by stories like this. Bitcoin transactions remain irreversible. Run away from anyone who claims they can help you retrieve bitcoins sent to scammers. The only miracle is if God touches the mind of the scammer to return the bitcoins sent to them.

I am not surprised that this story is coming from Quora. Scammers are everywhere on Quora putting out dramatic  stories just to attract sympathy, trust and attract gullible people to them. Disregard this story and be careful of who you make bitcoin transaction deals with.

If Bitcoin is already in the hands of scammers, then there is a small possibility that the Bitcoin can be recovered by the owner because the transaction he made has been confirmed and it is very likely that the Bitcoin has been moved to other addresses or has been mixed where recovering becomes more difficult. even when these scammers are successfully arrested by the authorities, the Bitcoin owner will have difficulty recovering his Bitcoin, because the legal process is often slow and does not necessarily lead to a refund to the victim. so in the end the victim can only give up his Bitcoin.

To answer the question posed in your subject, BTC can only be recovered if you somehow get to the scammers and make them return it to you, or if you can get the authorities to confiscate the funds if it is deposited into a centralized service and return it to you. However, what are the chances of any of the two happening? Very slim, maybe none. So it is safe to say that if you get scammed, your BTC is lost and at that point you should protect yourself and make sure you don't fall for recovery scams.

That's extremely accurate. For some reason the link says that it has been deleted, but that's irrelevant. I had once almost been scammed by a fake moderator on Discord,  I actually went ahead and typed my Metamask private key on a phishing website. Thankfully, my instinct kicked on time and I moved my funds immediately. When I mentioned it on the Discord group, I received a handful of messages by irrelevant people claiming that X or Y had recovered the coins for them for a fee, or actually went ahead and claimed they could do it themselves, for a fee of course.

Regardless, all these are stories, and she might be using big amount so that people can believe her; but in reality, I don’t think it is possible.
Recover Bitcoin, how?

Maybe if it is an exchange transaction when she missed network which I don’t even think is applicable to Bitcoin; some coins do have different chains where some of the chains don’t support the others, if you send money through different chain address through an exchange, you might be lucky to get it back even though most of the exchanges will tell you that it is gone.
For Bitcoin, I don’t think exchanges can do that because any of the address can support each others I think.

The recovery service might be a scam attempt, and the wan can also be lying maybe to promote some scams that will come in the name of Bitcoin recovery service.

I have seen this kind of story before on social media, where someone was claiming and thanking a service for helping him recovered his stolen bitcoin. But as for me, I did not believe it. I just think it is another tactic that scammers are trying to use again to scam people.With stories like that, it is very possible there will be some people who may be attracted to it and try to reach out to them for help recovering their stolen bitcoin. This will still lead to a scam, because they will surely request payment before they do their work, which is just another way to scam the person.

What I am trying to say is that I don’t think it is possible for stolen bitcoin to be recovered by any private service. Only government agencies may be able to help and even then the chance of recovery is very small, as some other members have said. The hackers or people who steal bitcoin are very smart, because they will never do it that they shoild be able to traced,and that is why it is so hard to see anyone successfully recover their stolen bitcoin.

The recovery service might be a scam attempt, and the wan can also be lying maybe to promote some scams that will come in the name of Bitcoin recovery service.

This is very possible I was able to save someone who was about to be scammed through this means in the past. She was a victim of romance scam and luckily for her she told me about it. So it wasn't long someone wrote her that they were from a certain agency that help scammed  victim recover their lost money that she should send certain documents and some personal information. When she told me I smiled and I told her it was another scam attempt from the same people that scammed her in the first place. At first she didn't believe me but somewhere along the line she found out I was telling her the truth.

Bitcoin is completely decentralized. Once a transaction is completed, that Bitcoin cannot be recovered in any way. Unless the scammer takes that Bitcoin to a centralized platform. Because only a centralized platform can take control of a person's crypto assets. But it is completely impossible to get any Bitcoin back from a non-custodial wallet. So those who have lost Bitcoin will never get their Bitcoin back. Although this is a sad fact, but it is only true.

It's not a new thing at all. I've come across this kind of claim a lot online and all I can say is that we should avoid them at all cost. There's literally a very small chance of recovering any lost bitcoin. Once it's confirmed and received on the other end, it can't be recovered. Many people have lost even more bitcoins because they fail to let go for what has already been lost. Scammers usually prey on peoples pain and since slot of crypto users are careless, they just use these tactics to get them indirectly. So many videos online of some company who claims to help recover lost coins but I'm still not convinced they are real..

Bitcoin is a decentralized financial system and P2P exchange system where transactions take place. That is, transactions made through the blockchain are limited to only 2 people unless you reveal your identity with your address. This makes it clear that the Bitcoin information marked as successful on the blockchain is not stored by any third party. You can only see the transaction through the hash and see the addresses. If the person behind the address is not revealed, then I don't see any way to recover Bitcoin. I think it is impossible, unless someone adds their identity to their Bitcoin contract.

Recovered is not the same as reversed.

What you read about bitcoin is true, once the TX included in a mined block it is impossible to reverse it unless the attacker manages to do 51% attack^[1].

What might have happened here is the victim reported the crime and the authority manage to seize the funds from the scammer by tracking him down and getting access to his wallets and returned the funds back to the affected party.
