I got this email (from official email, it was not a phishing email) from chips.gg, title was: We screwed up when adding Solana, there are 48 hours left before the intern gets fired.
Below is the content of the email,


What do you think about this kind of promotion? Is it humour or something else? IMO reputed casinos should refrain from such tactics, it leads to bad marketing, nothing else.

The purpose of this seemingly humorous message is to grab your attention and get you to read their entire message.  Perhaps if they had written in a traditional way, you wouldn't have paid attention to reading the message or cared about its content because it was written in a way different from the typical marketing emails we usually receive.

Being creative in sending promotional messages for the platform by writing content isn't a bad thing, but the message shouldn't always follow this approach, as it can come across as unprofessional, especially when it’s sent by a well-known casino like CHIPS.GG, because it might indicate that they are not serious about what they are saying.

Though I haven’t received this kind of email yet from the casinos I use, that line “the intern will get fired” is obviously just marketing. I really doubt there’s an actual intern typing that. It’s just a way to get your attention, and honestly I even find it kinda funny. Just chill - gamblers don’t need to be serious all the time. As long as it’s coming from the official email, there’s nothing to worry about.

It's just humor from my perspective.

Just look at how they intentionally bolded parts of the text. I also received the same promotional email, and I believe other users who signed up for the casino received the same.

I don't think they had any bad or sketchy intentions. Let's loosen up sometimes

I have received similar Email messages like this one before, I also don’t find it sketchy or that bad, each person has a different view of such marketing. It’s a gambling related email and shouldn’t be that serious all the time. It can be humorous or attention grabbing message.

I can’t be certain about this, but this might be just an AI generated email or at least the idea itself is taken from it. I have personally seen something similar while trying to set up an automation for Email marketing campaigns.

Negative marketing works way better than positive marketing these days. It's just humour, and I think they are pretty successful at doing it. I am sure they will repeat such things in the future once they get the actual results of this campaign. This is probably the first time you have received such an email, but I have been seeing such posts on X for a while now. The latest trend was "We owe you an apology" type posts for the product, and many companies actually posted them. It's all planned, mate.

I am sure you saw some banners like "Our graphics designer on leave, please buy our product", right? It was a trend a few months back. They follow the trends and that's it. I am sure you will get more emails like this one in the future.

Possibly, he has been given a target to meet, hence his last comment, but I do not think that is a good marketing or promotional strategy for such a big, well-known casino in the gambling industry. It looks like one begging to make sure they get something out of pity, which is not right. I believe that organisations can go to any extent to promote their product so as to get more patronage, but it should not be in this format as it ridicules the organisation's reputation and does not show a good business ecumen on their path as an organisation to compel their staff to, at all costs, compulsorily get customers through such a format or risk their job. It is far below standard and not encouraging to get engaged with.

Title is misleading, content is misleading and who knows what will be the next email content just for grabbing my attention. I never received such misleading email from any reputed platform. Oh ok may be once but I corrected them back then as well.

Just because it is a trend that does not mean it is right. I appreciate the genuine humour but not through straight up misleading emails. And you are right in future these types of emails will increase this is exactly why I created this thread.

I totally get your point, that phrase would annoy certain people especially when it comes from big platform like Chips. If an experienced user like you finds it unprofessional then, many others will probably feel the same way, which can easily create a bad marketing for the casino.
Personally, that phrase will not bother me much because of focusing more on the legitimacy of the platform. But if I were part of their marketing team, I would take this feedback very seriously. To be honest using casual or humorous lines in emails is unusual for large regulated platforms. I have mostly seen this style used by smaller unregulated casinos that send simple effortless emails, more likely an automated email with N8N attached with AI.

As I have said the very first thing I did was to check the source and it was indeed from their official email. Regarding, how I felt? I felt surprised to be honest that it has an emotional hook to it which is not wrong in itself if there was no misleading content like any brands do for charity focused content, if the content is not based on someone's job. What is next? help children by wagering on our platform, with a clever content.

How about saying exactly what it is. Hey memehunter, we have x amount of prize pool and here is a live leaderboard, please have a look, it is very profitable in our opinion.

Assuming they sent this to thousands of users, it's quite likely at least one of them isn't going to play. That means the intern gets fired no matter what.

I'd be more concerned about the obviously fake promises: "it's LITERALLY FREE MONEY" and "you're prob gonna win the $10,000 top prize". That's the sketchy part, nobody cares about the intern.

Sometimes because of lack of number of participants some contests might be categorized as such, and the claim might be true. The problematic part is the use of unnecessary (possibly sketchy) emotional hook (which is totally false).

Well, even though they mentioned the intern, I don't think there are any interns. They just created an imaginary person and sent these emails to the users. The marketing team seeks better statistics. They track how many emails were delivered, how many were opened, and how many times people clicked on the link included in the email. If such an email brings them better results, they will continue doing it regardless of what customers think.

I myself used a cracked script to run an email service which I use for ThunderGod Promotions, I can literally see if my client actually opened the email, if they clicked on the links, how many times they clicked, etc, etc. So, as I said, they look at the stats and they created a imaginary marketing intern.

lol, I know that, and I agree that most people here can also deduce this, BUT that is not the point though, the point is if title and content is misleading or not? Since you already mentioned that you also don't think that there is any intern which proves the misleading claim. Although if someone find it humorous, I have no objection to it but the line of differentiation would be a bit thinner. I would like to keep professional approach while dealing with financial matters it leaves very little room for confusion (or manipulations).

i agree, but most businesses do not give a fuck about that, profit is their first and only motive, everything else is secondary.
they will only stop doing shit when it starts affecting their bottom line, and that if they are smart enough to not double down thinking it's an us problem, not a them problem.

Do you think this can be an AI generated suggestion to add humour in the email foot? I don't think this would be taken as "catch the attention" method rather than unprofessional idea. Who can tell if this method really catch the attention of some/many users because the two users who declred to receive those emails are someone suspected it and came here to post about it in the Reputation board (OP), and another one who ignore the email (first post comment).
