The modern struggle between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Knots illustrates how Bitcoin is evolving from a mere technology into a belief system with theological undertones, where adherence to principle is paramount, leading to an Orthodox vs. Evangelical split. The conflict centers on interpreting the "sacred text" of the original whitepaper: the Bitcoin Knots camp acts as the conservative orthodox, insisting on a strict, purist doctrine that Bitcoin must exclusively serve as sound money, viewing any use of its scarce block space for non-monetary data (like NFTs or Ordinals) as a heretical corruption of its original purpose that must be actively filtered out. Conversely, the widely-adopted Bitcoin Core community represents the progressive evangelicals, advocating for the core tenet of digital neutrality and permissionless innovation, arguing that the network must accept all transactions equally—provided the user pays the fee—believing that restricting usage violates the fundamental, almost religious freedom of the protocol and stifles its potential for global adoption and evolution. Crucially, the Bitcoin Core approach is considered superior for the long-term integrity of the blockchain’s tamper-proof and robustness features because its policy of maximal neutrality ensures the network remains absolutely permissionless, making it impossible for any single entity, developer, or government to justify censorship based on content rather than code violation, thereby eliminating a single point of ideological failure and strengthening the core security promise of an unstoppable, unbiased, immutable ledger.

The insistence that the right thing be done in Bitcoin space, just like it's with its network consensus, has nothing to do with religion, or conservatives vs progressive matter. By the way, the division in Christianity is mostly about deviation from true doctrine. Most Christain denominations, if not all, insist that the Christain doctrine must be followed or adhered to. Some try to misinterpret and misuse the doctrine to suit their own personal belief or to be able to fit into the matrix (world system) but the same doctrine requires believers to be seperate and never be part of the world because it's believed to be corrupted or ruled by the enemy of the Church who hates purity.
The doctrine, which is very progressive, is the foundation of every Christian faith, which is where every true church must develop from regardless of the difference in worship, as long as the doctrine is not violated.. And the doctrine is about love and liberty. What could be higher or more evolved than that?
Why evolve from down to top when you could just start from the top and have strong rules that prevents degeneracy, or moving away from the top to bottom level?

The Bitcoin protocol is based on freedom and to a large extent love(if you consider what the word love really means). Going against this important principle can potentially make it hard for average person to transact cheaply, quickly and safely, and you could consider this approach a new level of degeneracy, self-centeredness and hate from those who only care about themselves and their evolution theory.
Rather than "evolve", you should adapt the Bitcoin system to your peculiar situation without deviating from its freedom and love principles. And adaptation would mean the foundation remains unchanged but with auxiliary systems like sidechain that serve a particular or different needs, just like the churches in different weather conditions or seasons may adapt to their own peculiar weather without violating the Christian doctrine
