Before now, the common man is hopeful to win a case when he or she goes to court. They believe the court would deliver judgement based on the true picture of a matter; and for this reason the court protects the common man from intimidation and oppression. But today in Nigeria, the reverse is now the case. As a common man ,even when you are right, taken your matter to the court is like a waste of time; more especially when you are making case with a rich person. Judgement would be overturned and you are going to loose that case.

A country with this kind of legal sector can never succeed. Where the right of a common person would be denied just because he or she has no money to bribe a judge to deliver judgement in his favour.
This is not common especially in the developed countries. Look at the case of Ike Ekweremadu, he was sentenced to 9yrs imprisonment with his wife in UK. If it were to be in Nigeria, that matter would have been overturned and he would have been freed.

Our Judiciary should ensure to maintain their integrity when delivering a judgement. They should be able to deliver judgement based on the true picture of a matter and avoid taking bribe and overturning matter against an innocent person. If only our Judiciary can ensure true and fair judgement to every citizen of this country Nigeria irrespective of the status of the person involved, I believe this country will be great .

You have said it all, a country can’t grow with a failed judicial system, even electoral processes won’t be credible because even when the rightful person goes to contest his mandate in court he won’t win because of corruption in our judiciary, it wasn’t so before now but the rise in greed and corruption has blinded the judiciary, no one wants to stand for truth anymore, their interest is just to support whoever has money in his pocket, the rights of a common man has been trampled upon.

If one doesn’t have money it’s advisable you don’t take any case to court in Nigeria because trust me you won’t win, our system is so corrupt that they can see a glaring truth and twist it just to favour a particular person because of their selfish interest, a common man can no longer get justice in Nigeria, a common man has no right in Nigeria at all, court is only for the high and mighty, justice is only for the rich.

When we run a monopoly and autocracy way of government what then should we expect, sir we are all living in a country own by just very few people in power though some are servicing (incumbent) while some are ex-government officials. A country where they use government money to build houses and buy SUV what billions of naira what should we expect from the judges then going by the way the government of today is been run then I know that there is no hope for the common men because the case they can't win will be pending in there court till they strike out the case

If you are just realizing that Tinubu regime has bought every single system (the judiary, executive, legislature, inec everything) in this Nigerian then I will say you come new for Nigerian. In our judiary system today their is no justice for a common man, if you don't have money to buy justice then just forget it, or should I talk of the police or others they have been bought over.

In Nigerian today is just for One to pray not to be a victim of Nigerian because if Nigerian happened to you then you go regret coming from Nigerian.

The judiciary is the hope of the common politicians, that's the case of the Nigerian state. The major problem with Nigerian judiciary is the fact that the process of making or appointing a judge is through political appointment as the executive governors are the ones that makes appointment for judges in their various state. Ordinarily the ministry of justice is supposed to screen lawyers and get the best for the appointment, yet this not the case. So if we can amend that part of the constitution, removing politicians from making such appointment, then our judiciary can be free a little.

The rate at which the executive are interfering in judicial matters is alarming. It has reached the point that the Executive disobey court orders without facing any consequences. The truth is, the judiciary is divided because how can a court a sentence a corrupt politician to prison and  a court from another jurisdiction will over turn the judgement of the first court because of Money. The system is corrupt because the judiciary allows it, if the Judiciary stop aiding politicians in evading the law, corruption in Nigeria will reduce.  Election rigging and results manipulation will reduced since the judiciary will no longer aids such corrupt practices anymore.

You dey right—political appointment fit spoil judicial independence, and plenty people dey see merit-based commission as way to bring back confidence. Some people dey argue say some oversight go help judges dey aware of local realities, so balanced approach no easy. Wetin specific mechanism or criteria you think go fit ensure both competence and impartiality for the appointment process

That is the extend we have gotten, a situation where the judiciary body is now a political entity that can be controlled by political interference and political parties when they are supposed to be operating in an Independent form but now bribery and corruption is now the constitution they uses. The issue of a common man is now a failed case no matter the prove because the law is only made for the poor while the rich has there own separate law.

Normally person don lose faith for judiciary for Nigeria. Nothing concern justice wth truth or facts, just get influence then money mix connection and justice is anything you say it is. If na one wer the facts dey too obvious dem go drag the case for court and you sef as a common man go just tire and meanwhile you go dey spend money you no even get sef as them dey drag the matter dey go but make e just be say na you as a avergae nigerian them carry go court....before you even get a chance to defend your already dey inside trouble.

Like i don see case wer them just carry person dump for prison because him offend rich man, if you ask the officer wetin the guy do i swear them no even know. na as rich man reach station, give them money to go pick person, them don move.

We no fit develop as a country until this justice thing we get am right. Until Nigerian courts fit deliver judgements based on purely evidence and law, regardless of money and power, teh talk of progress na just empty cries

How can we leave in a country where the judiciary are so Dependant on our political representatives who's interest is never to effect positive change than destroying the system built by some good leaders of the past. Its is only in Nigeria where the law is only made for the poor masses while the rich are always right know matter the circumstance. For example, when a politician steal they call call it political strategy while that of the poor is clearly seen as stealing.
When a poor man is involved in any issue that involves judicial verdict, he should consider himself finished because the judiciary are never going to judge it the way it is supposed to be

The judicial system has long lost its credibility, gone are those days when we refer the judiciary as the only hope of the common man. Corruption has eaten deep in every sector of government of which the judiciary is not exempted, we are just living at the mercy of the government, the rich and those who are influential in the society. Most politicians are the real problem we have in this country because they are the major pioneers of corruption because they woo these judges with a lot of money which makes justice become compromised unlike when we use to have a fair judgement. It is really so sad and i wish one day that those who are involved in corrupt practices will meet their end in order to have a credible judicial system.

You and I knows that the entire system is corrupt. The judiciary has lost it's credibility, there is no two ways about it. Most of the judges your seeing today they assume office by appointment from their friends who are president and governors, they are not there by merit of their dignity and integrity. They said birds of the same feathers flock together, in a system where the executive arm is corrupt the judiciary will also be corrupt. Never expect a poor or an average Nigerian to win a case against the rich man when his friend is the judge. If they found out that the case will favour the poor man they will keep adjoining the case until the man exhausted all his money for lawyer and give up on the case.

How do they expect the country to grow when the rule of law is only meant for the poor and not the wealthy, the executives constant disobedience to the law when it matters most is a clear indication that they are above the law which is not supposed to be if we where in a good country.
The drama happening in Nigeria is truly getting out of hand and needs to be looked into if they want things to move cause if it is not done very soon there wont be constitution as know one will be willing to obey the law in Nigeria anymore

We all know that Nigerian judiciary system is obviously corrupt, and it will never be the hope of the common man because this situation are things that we already know about and justice can never be served in a free and fair manner, I think the judiciary is mostly now for the rich because of bribery and corruption that have taken over the judiciary and also the corrupt politicians do buy the judges, so there is nobody longer hope for the common man when it comes to seeking justice in this country called Nigeria, even the Nigerian Police are also corrupt as hell and there is nothing good can come out from all this individual.

In Nigeria poor people are always been oppressed by the rich people when it comes to the issues of legislation but as a less privilege, that doesn't give you guarantee to oppress yourself more because, there some certain situation where power and wealth doesn't favour the rich people sometimes.

i have seen a case between one poor man and legislative, despite the power of the legislative has, he didn't win the case over the poor man. So, in any situation you found yourself despites been a less privilege, don't hesitate to speak out because silence can kill fast and depression is real.

In Nigeria, the system can be stacked against the poor, but it's powerful to speak out. Your story about the poor man winning against the legislative shows justice can prevail.
Silence can be deadly, voice matters, Power and wealth don't always guarantee outcomes, in Nigeria Depression can be sometime real, that why is well say not to suffer in silence.
