This is never fair. These issues question the merit system. Because merit is given for a good post. And when merit is given as a reward for a contest, then merit will have no value. Where the 3rd prize is only $25, 50 merits are worth even less. This is really a joke with the merit system. The person who gets the 4th prize here will not get it because of his talent but will get it just by making a prediction. This is really funny. It is becoming easier to get merit from this contest then getting Merit from Pumpkin Contest. Lol

No one can ever guarantee their prediction. So winning a reward by making a prediction means winning by luck. I am not saying why you are giving merit as a reward, there are still some contests in this forum where merit is being given as a reward. However, you have made a reward calculation that is reducing the value of the merit system. Where the 3rd prize is $25, the 4th prize is 50 merits, then you are setting the value of each merit less than $0.5, which calls into question your activity.

Can you share the real rates with us? What are merits going for in the market? You seem to be familiar with the markets for this asset.

I'm personally not too fond of the idea, but not against it either, as it's not breaking any rule. My only "main" concern would be if these merits ultimately ended up in a "bad" account who isn't worth the extra boost but just happened to be lucky. However, if you carefully consider this argument, the worst it could happen would be to rank someone up to Member (or Full Member). I do agree that 50 might be a little excessive though, but not a major deal; there are already challenges giving out merit if someone's willing to allocate some of their time. Perhaps settle down for a lower amount of merit and call it a day?

I'm not surprised that I have the protagonist of the controversy on ignore. He's a guy who acts like he's smart, goes through the threads making categorical statements, often without reading or understanding, and now the latest is this.

The logic of the contest is easy to understand.

The cost of entry to the contest is earned 50 merits.

I don’t accept anyone who earned less than 50 merits.

If someone managed to earn 50 merits in the forum, it means he is already doing a fairly good job here.

And if you check the participants, many of them 200-400 merits earned.

That means mathematically, the chances of 50 merits landing on a bad account is very slim.

I also want to thank op for this thread (which i already did and rewarded him with merits) because if this thread weren’t here, i wouldn’t have that many participants and then yes math would look worse then.

Again, this is not about being afraid of giving merits to bad accounts (you cant ensure that 100%). Posts should be 'merit worthy' in your opinion. This is especially true when as a merit source you have a JOB to boost the vision of merit system by actively seeking and promoting quality posting by awarding merits as a source, do this, instead of hosting merit giveaways to boost your secondary account. The fact that you chose your secondary account is enough to expose your intentions, IMO.

I am saying content-wise there are no concrete rules on which posts should be merited and which ones shouldnt.

The rules are way wider. (dont sell, dont abuse it on alts etc.)

LOL I didn't set any price for merit. According to the position @mrust_mobile has set 50 merits as a reward, if I think about it, the price per merit is less than 50 cents.

Merit is not for sale. This is a free reward, but only for those who deserve it.

That's because anyone with half a brain understands that writing a number has no merit whatsoever. The relationship between writing that number and it being the closest to the current price on the date is the same as clicking on the slot and getting lucky. The merit system was not set up for that, which anyone who understands the meaning of the word merit knows.

Five pages, and we continued. I was expecting to see a conclusion at the end, but it seems the debate will continue for a while. I can see support for both sides. But I am more curious about when Mindrust started using his smart fridge to browse and write on the forum? I wouldn't know that it is even possible to write from a fridge if I hadn't seen the ads that show some fridges actually come with a large screen and Android OS installed in them. Is that what you're using, Mindrust?

As for the merits as a prize for the Bitcoin price prediction, I think 50 is too much. But I assume he is too generous with his merits because he is a merit source. I am sure an average member won't sent more than 5 merits for such prediction contest.

Yes, it's more worth it or more deserving to get 50 merits than just guessing the price of BTC and still getting the merit even if the guess is wrong.
Whether this is one way to do, merit abuse on certain accounts that follow it or not because there must be many small accounts that try their luck.

I participated in pumpkin contests, pizza contests, art contests, never got 50 merits in one submission, only a few and even didn't look too much.
Work on one pumpkin may take more than a day.

Especially in the art contest that I participate in every month which I think is the most difficult and takes weeks, I don't get any of them,
and if this refers to creativity that is juxtaposed with luck in guessing the price of BTC alone,
then giving 50 points to participants who participate in such a lucky contest seems unfair and like it's too easy to get merit.

I don't see anything wrong with the way he wishes to reward people who participate in his game.
This is his game and he chooses whatever way he will reward participants, I understand your perspective pointing out to the fact that $25 is worth more than 50 merit.
Your issue is because of your stinginess when it comes to merit given, you always feel for one to be merited by you that person must pass 100 percent of your expectations, you'll come across a good post but you'll never merit that person simply because you don't want them to grow quick then when you see someone that is not stingy like you in giving out merit, you begin to complaint.

Big man relaxed with your merit, yes $25 is worth more than 50 merit.
You're here pretending but if they check well you'll rather trade your merit than to merit anyone with a good post.
