I am not worried about data theft at reputable casinos, I think the data is safe and confidential. But doing KYC is less of a hassle for me. It annoys me when they reject the data as incomplete and ask me to re-enter it. It is very annoying for me. So I try to avoid KYC as much as possible, not that I am afraid of data theft.

Since I am an irregular gambler and gamble very rarely, I do not have much reason to worry about it. But going through KYC for any account seems annoying to me, even when I am opening a CEX account.

If you think that your private information is safe with them, following information could change your kind, as there was recent incident where billions of personal records linked to the company called IDMERIT leaked recently.

Quote
An unsecured database linked to IDMerit exposed one billion personal records across 26 countries.

Leaked data includes national IDs, full names, addresses, phone numbers, and potential telecom metadata.

Who would feel confortable knowing his personal information like full name, address and phone number is available on black market?

Who would be responsible when (not if) personal data gets used for criminal activity or he falls to some scam in which hix personal data is used? Should the company that "safely stored" his personsl data become held responsible? Or maybe regulators who forced KYC policies in the first place?

Storing large amount of KYC data is just ticking time bomb, there is no question if the leak will happen, it is just matter of time when will it happen.

One other thing is that some casinos are intentionslly vague with their terms and conditions (untransparent kyc policy, unknown minimum witgdrawal amount etc.) and catch you off guard later usually when you want to withdraw the funds. To me it is borderline scam.
This is correct and it’s almost nonsense to read the ToS just to check their KYC terms because they will surely required that if they are a licensed casino.

Licensed casino automatically gives an idea that they will need KYC later. Casino intentionally make their KYC terms vague to avoid discouraging users to register if they write that it was a mandatory which is the reality.

The list restricted countries are the only info I’m checking on ToS.
But that is part of the scam that he mentions. If we can't as users get these services to behave in a more better way, then there should be laws in place that prevent this. It should be clear for anyone who does not have experience that these platforms will ask for KYC. For everyone else, people that do know, it is basically just a public secret. If someone does not want to do KYC in any case we know where to send them, but for the other platforms everyone is clear that this is just a public secret of sorts.

All the data that knowledge that we have on this topic confirms the opposite of your claim. The data is neither safe or confidential. KYC data is regularly leaked even from bigger entities for any number of reasons. No system is ever fully safe, that must be kept in mind. So the only way that KYC data can be stored safely is if it is never stored to begin with. As soon as it is stored, wherever it is stored and however, the chance of a leak has increased a lot.

Ultimately it is the fault of the users, because these things only exist due to users tolerating them and overlooking them for any variety of purposes. Many people here would even sell their mother's personal pictures to get a casino bonus, therefore do not be surprised that this is a consequence of the behavior of large groups of casino users. If people refused to play at places that have things done in nontransparent ways and demanded that things be done differently, things would be different. This is one of the reasons why we can't have nice things, the only other alternative is for regulators to act but most often they don't act at all and if they do they do it in some wrong way.

Almost 9 out of every 10 casinos wouldike to ask for KYC verification at anytime and this is in their terms of service.
Any gambler that would say or assume that a casino is likely not to ask for KYC verification must be making a mistake that should have been avoidable.
Not everyone is familiar with these topics before they start to gamble online, therefore it is reasonable to assume that many people end up being surprised when this happens to them. You'd be surprised at just how few people actually know about these things at all.
