I did it so far, save back up in difference location from mobile phone, computer until writing seed phrase manually at paper how to keep secure and avoid if any device of saving back up seed phrase get loss or broken. Usually many people trust more with only one device without back up seed phrase at several location, when their device such as mobile phone or computer can't operating well get difficulty how to recovery back their wallet.

I don't think it's advisable to have the wallet being created over a long time before using it for your investment, who knows maybe before now, it has been compromised, while those that already have access to the wallet will always keep a watch on it till we eventually uses it, while some could have developed a poor storage for their wallet keys making it vulnerable in the post without knowing.

Unfortunately, this is the practice used by 99% of users, if not 99.90%.
New users will eventually realise that it would be better to store their seed in different ways, but at the beginning, unintentionally, the most commonly used technique for storing the seed is pen and paper! Because the common thinking is always the same! Do you want them to steal them from me? 
However, it's still better than those users who store their seed in the cloud or on an Excel sheet on their PC.

Bitcoin is perfect, just learn about passphrase which you can use to extend the seed phrase and make it still inaccessible even if there is someone that sees the seed phrase. But the thing is that you also need the passphrase to have access to your bitcoin.

For the sake of "JUST IN CASE", it'd be very much necessary to duplicate it in more than one secret back up locations. Life can be "UNJUST" and strange as change is constant. So, it's always good to have plan "B" as alternative to recover your seed phrase ahead of potential risks with your primary storage location.
