Gambling sites that cannot afford compliance teams or are new to start, use 3rd party compliance teams. Especially for countries that are harder to verify but has a large user base. There are possibilities that those 3rd party companies could be compromised. Even major companies like Meta(Facebook) or Apple have issue with data leak. Small indie companies are far more susceptible for such hacks, if it interests the hackers. Honestly, if you don't want your data to be out in public, avoid leaving your digital footprints, giving them to anyone and everyone who asks. Issue with Sportsbooks and casinos is, that they need KYC to detect collusion or find the culprits who could fix games and profit off of them.

Tbh, I don’t think personal info can get sold. Licensed and regulated online casinos are legally prohibited from selling their customer data, not because they can’t, but because they operate under strict dataprotection rules. This is why I believe that when personal data gets leaked, it’s usually from scams, phishing sites, or unlicensed operators, not from big and promising legit brands... KYC is a mandatory process to check underage players, so if players are scared to provide their info, this industry will disappear.

Having said that, I have never come across a gambling platform that requested my phone number for the KYC process if the subject was about address and ID. I would believe it's possible because what was pointed out here is something social media platforms like Facebook do with their user private information since it's something that has to do it promotion.

Meanwhile, if anyone doesn't want to share his/her private information, why not use a gambling platform that's totally no KYC, like 2UP.io, and save themselves from all this drama?

Have you checked this user's posts? I've known him for a long time, although he registered even earlier. He has a reputation for being a longtime fan of bounty programs, which at one time required KYC to obtain tokens. Therefore, taking his opinion as implying that documents could be sold to third parties is obvious, given his history of trusting his documents.

But as for other individuals, it also depends on the casino, how well it protects user data, and the player themselves and their privacy practices.

We still have one or two casinos in the forum that are KYC free, you can use them to gamble if you are worried that your data will be leaking to the public. However, don't feel that you wouldn't submit any documents forever when using a noKYC casino because if something pops up and the government asks for it, you will be asked for verification or if your account is suspected.

Since, I started gambling I haven't experienced any issues for using a KYC casino because I gamble in reputable casinos. Any casino that asks for your phone number when registering should be avoided.

Karl_3000 you really raised a valid point which every user here should look out for. because there are some gambling platforms and casinos out there that are being created and operated by scammers just with the aim to scam people, so in such platforms if you give out your kyc you will definitely see dramas, you will be receiving numerous calls from different numbers offering you  loans and all manner of offers so that you can give out more informations for them to act with. and I have happen to be a typical example a victim, because this type of thing have happened to me not once not twice, although I can't really tell if those dramas was actually coming from those gambling platforms but I suspects is from them because immediately I registered on those platforms  I started experiencing those behaviour. Because back when I was using osome gambling platform that are reputable, although I can't really recall there names, but I still have that incident in my memory, so immediately I came across the strength my memory flashed back to that incident, so now my advice is if a casino or a gambling is not a reputable don't bet with them talk more of giving out your kyc to a non-reputable casino or gambling platform to avoid dramas.

That you are asking a question like this, in this way, shows that you are completely oblivious to the real risk of doing KYC. This has nothing to do with gambling websites, this happens with any service that you do KYC with. There are two main risks here:

1) Data leak/abuse through someone employed by the company or through the 3rd service that they use.
2) Data leak/abuse through a hack. Even if the company is extremely honest and their employees do not engage in malicious behavior, their database of documents will eventually get hacked and leaked.

The first thing is worse because the employee or employees can selectively target people based on their wealth and they have information about their activities that they can use against the user in question. Nevertheless, one must realize that the risk has nothing to do with whether a company is a gambling company or not, whether they are trusted or not -- the risk is present with any and every KYC procedure that you do anywhere.

It's definitely possible that his information got exposed somewhere, someone did mention in their post that the guy used to join a lot of bounties where some of them might ask for KYC to receive tokens, it is also possible that the casino he used exposed his personal information.

I have this problem now due to my local casino account that registered using my mobile phone number(gcash).

When online casino here was restricted to be promoted on mobile wallet many casino becomes aggressive on attracting customers through calls and message despite these casino is not familiar to me.

Yes there's a chance that you will also experience that user encountered. So before any issue will happen and for sure you can't afford to receive those random calls coming from those random people promoting something much better if we are careful for giving out our KYC details.

Because the risk for experiencing some exploits and other disturbance is so high especially that those frauds finds good ways to scam people.

Much better for that user to change his phone number to avoid getting disturb by unwanted calls.

It's not surprising, since they can get money for selling personal information to other people. In our country, during pandemic, we are asked to give our mobile numbers to malls for contact tracing just in case but after sometime, I received a lot of messages offering gambling, loans, etc. so it's not surprising that if you send your personal information online, it will might be sold online.

Yes so I am kinda irritated when there's a platform that even your mobile number is included in the registration cause what else you could do to stop them from calling right? The worst part is they been saying they just get your number from a social profile where you didn't display it. Kek!

I want to believe there might be incidents of coincident, that maybe after you exited a group for a long time, those scammers there are now sending you unsolicited messages, or it may be that the recent one just joined, but i don't want to believe a casino can be this daft to immediately implement their scam intention or spamming after you completed your KYC, also, we should be very much familiar with the kind of gambling platform e are using, this also matters as there are some that are reputable and others known for scam.
