Why Crypto casinos not investing in real Mobile Apps?

Long time ago when I started wondering why almost all crypto casinos avoid building real mobile Apps for iOS or Android, and to this day, I didn’t see any good Mobile App or I am missing something? Most of them only offer apps that are basically website based to install from the browser, I mean just the same site put inside an app. And honestly, it becomes slow and nowhere close to the experience we get with platforms like 365bet or other traditional betting Apps.

I really don’t get it, Crypto casinos have huge budgets for marketing, partnerships, good prize pools… but when it comes for buildin an actual special mobile app, it’s like no one wants to step up.

So why aren’t they doing it? Is it because of App Store and Google Play restrictions,
Or it is legal situation?

Personally, I feel crypto casinos are missing a big opportunity here. A smooth app could attract a whole new wave of players and give them a real advantage over the competition, especially on App store IOS or Android…

Do you mean desktop apps? Many of the apps I see offered are mobile based and they function as they should. There may not be more due to there not being a huge demand from them. And I am referring in general to casinos and not crypto casinos.

More people use web version of casinos so rightly they focus more funds to that to get the most responsive version of it.

I do not think restrictions is not part of the reasons, I think the gambling sites have a very web friendly site is the reason. There users can easily make use of the web to have access to their site and gamble.

Gambling sites can easily let their users see the app link on their site just like how few gambling sites are doing, but they are not common at all.

I think I actually all boils down to resource management. It takes way more resources to manage an application just like it does for a website and it's almost quite similar to actually doubling the costs you already have at hand for a web portal. If they wish to have an app it's fine mostly for very big casinos but not too feasible for mini ones.

It takes less to actually just make the web able to run like an app instead which is what most casinos do.

Crypto casinos are still newer and an upgrade from the regular fiat gambling platforms and although they include normal cash for staking too, they mostly still prefer to use the mobile optimized web apps maybe due to reasons of licensing and regulatory policies in that country or region and since gamblers are still getting used to them, the cost of development and managing a website may be an issue that can cause lapses in the casino operation.

Because in the App Store or iOS Store, only legal applications are accepted. Meanwhile, casinos and gambling are illegal in many countries. It's the same with drugs; there are no drug buying and selling apps in the App Store because drugs are illegal and criminalized in many countries. Similarly, gambling apps would definitely be rejected if submitted to the iOS Store or Android Store. This is because applications in the Android Store or iOS Store actually make transactions easier and faster, so gamblers feel comfortable and at ease, which makes them loyal to the gambling site where they play.

I think maybe the answer is that the apps are just unprofitable. They increase operational cost which will not make sense for the business in the long run. Besides their target customers who are older adults may not actually be interested in downloading an app before they play. On the other hand, I think that nothing for now has necessitated it being a trendy thing for others to copy.

It has been a thought that popped in my head too but I assume that if the casino really sees a need for android and IOS app based on the demand, they will definitely invest on mobile apps. Casino operators are not dumb entrepreneurs, they are very smart people who would seek for better profitable features and implement it even before people will start talking about its need, casino operators are very sensitive to the demand of customers because it will benefit them and bring satisfaction for customers. I believe that casino operators sees the need for some development even before the gamblers do. They must have seen that the website version is doing everything necessary for gamblers and it is low cost to manage than app.

I've seen few casinos operating on the app but most customers uses the web based platform for business, but it seems mobile app will work efficiently and notify users about every events taking place within the platform.

Web based casinos has a seamless and easy to go pathway for betting without stress and that it allows faster network connection to loading properly.

Now that I think about it, the crypto casinos I've seen who has an app relies on APK, and not available to play store. This makes me think you could be right about your theory. Plus generally, app store is stricter than google play.

In addition, there's also the fact that most crypto casinos work just fine on mobile browser, thus making an app much less a priority to casino team. It would also need a separate budget to make and to maintain as well.

It's because it's another operation that they need to spend money with. While I am sure that the majority of them can cover the cost of it.

Maybe what they think is it's better to focus solely to the browser version of it and just make it as responsive as they can.

So, that everyone is having the same experience just as how they're doing it with the browser. I'm just guessing here but it also makes me wonder why.

Well, I promoted the gambling niche before and tried to make a gambling tips app, but according to the Play Store, anything gambling-related is prohibited, including porno, drugs, etc...
Meaning the big reason for this is that it is not allowed so they don't develop a gambling app because there's no way to be approved by Google to add your app into the Play Store. Same for the Apple Store, but I heard that there are some casino apps, but they are only allowed in EU countries for Apple users.

I think most of it is because of the app store rules. The App Store and Google Play are very strict with gambling apps, full of rules, etc., and when cryptocurrency gets involved, it complicates the process even more. So many casinos prefer not to mess with it. Now, why is that?

Besides, maintaining a real app is more work: you have to constantly update it, follow various rules, fix things quickly… On the website it's much simpler for them.

I also think a native app would be great, but while everything is so bureaucratic, they'll probably continue focusing only on the browser. Maybe that will change later, who knows...

Simple answer is because its gambling. Crypto casinos rarely build true mobile apps because strict App Store/Google Play rules, legal uncertainties, and compliance risks make native releases harder than browser based versions, causing the industry to stick with web apps despite the missed opportunity. We all know how good if theres apps based casino ofcourse besides local offer cause in our country there's app for that. But crypto casino, might be not so frequent.

I understand now and get your view also from this discussion, however, if am to add to it, we can also see the overall cost of maintaining running an app, aside the restrictions on them from major stores, I can't imagine if running a gambling app could invite more expenses than the web platform, anyway, those into it understand more better.

That they don't even provide a link right from their website to download apps without going to the play store, I want to believe the user view and ois also very important on web than when on apps, which may slow down loading pages, I like if it were web.

Restrictions due to Play Store and App Store policies, plus the resources required for development, testing, and maintenance, seem to only create costs for them (crypto casinos) without generating additional revenue. On the potential revenue side, the impact is also limited, since good apps may not significantly affect the acquisition of new customers. IMO, players are more attracted to bonuses and promotions that bring +EV, even if the platform itself is generic. Many Asian casinos have mobile apps, AFAIK, to avoid government restrictions and IP bans, but people still prefer the browser version nonetheless.

You are right but then have you also think about the cost of managing and running an App and also maintaining their website as well?
Now, No casino would want to undergo such cost instead they would want to run only their web version to reduces cost for them. For me I don't have much time downloading apps on my phone, and just come to think it, how often would you keep downloading gambling apps on your phone to just to gamble? It is that simpler and easier to control web base site than an app, so most times it doesn't bring more profits to them because not everyone would accept to download their app on their phone.

They are all hypocrites. They don’t support casino apps directly but every other app they list have hidden or direct gambling elements inside. Most games offer lootboxes, most apps offer luck based prizes and yet when it comes to casino apps all hell breaks loose. In my opinion casinos google and apple are harming themselves, they are ignoring all that money they could have made. Casinos still make lots of money and mobile phone browsers work just fine. In reality casinos don’t lose mobile phone players. It is google and apple lose casino players. It would better to have google and apple on our side but if they don’t want to, we can’t force them. Let them hemorrhage money.

I wonder how the casino will pay the App Store? It seems that the App Store has 30% of the amount of internal in-app purchases. How to count? From the amount of deposits or from the amount of deposits minus the amount of withdrawals? Is it profitable for a casino to lose a third of its profits just for having an app in the App Store?
