According to research, chasing losses is actually more of a psychological matter, than it is, a logical one. Apparently, when you lose money, your brain triggers a so- called ' recovery mode' that makes you want to get/ win it back, just cause you don't want the day to end in the negative. It becomes less about the game and more about the chase. At that moment your ego's trying to fix the loss. This might look like a big motivator as the individual is simply refusing to give up, but, it usually almost always amounts to bigger loss, desperate moves/ decision, and more losses. Research shows that most addiction cases start from just one bad day of loss that was tried to be fixed/ repaired, instead of being accepted.
obviously and all the methods that they tell you like martin gala and so on are just methods to lose money so be careful guys The only way to avoid losing money is to avoid playing. otherwise play with small amounts just for fun and you're fine in my opinion

The funny thing is that, most gamblers do not even realize when they start chasing losses… it is like the moment the first bet goes bad, the mind switches from playing for fun to I must get my money back…. And that whole mindset is emotional, not logical.. You just start convincing yourself that one more bet will fix everything, even though deep down you know it rarely does.. It is basically psychology doing its thing, the fear of accepting defeat… all of that mixes together and pushes people to keep betting again, hoping the next ticket will recover everything..

I mean, one does not need to perform and detailed study on the human psyche to realize nobody likes to lose more to a casino, even if it is money one can afford to lose from the very beginning. So those who chase their losses are gamblers who are either gambling with money they should not gambler with or are not psychologically prepared to use any amount of money on a casino. If people did not feel adversity towards losing money, then gambling addiction would not be a thing and there would not be problems associated with casinos and bookies, as people would walk away as soon as their intended gambling budget is depleted

That's right, at the end you lose everything, we have been in this forum and no loser has ever say he chased lost and regained all his loses, even if we have one or two who will attest, they can't say it's consistent. Anything that don't occupy repeatedly can not be real, it's a wrong path, so desist from it. Once you understand that gambling is a lucky game and your skills or prayers has nothing to do with it, you will know when to stop even when you're losing money and you will never chase lost, instead you will take a break and relax. Try when you can if you're lucky keep playing, that's how I position my mind in gambling, i don't chase lose.

Yes you right, when you have a very bad day of loss it can lead you to continue gambling till you end up borrowing and selling your property just to recover your lost, a lot of people that are now addicted to bet or gambling started from them losing and them trying to recover their lost I have a friend who always Gamble and there was a day he was playing visual in a gambling store and he lost a lot of money and that made him continue just to recover his lost and he even used his phone as collateral in the gambling store and I can tell you that day was how his gambling addiction started, as a gambler any amount of money you lost in the cost of gambling please do not chase after it let it go and move on and don't forget to always use your Discretionary income to gamble and lastly gamble for fun because it will help you avoid addiction.

If gamblers from the onset approach gambling with the right mindset then I dont think that there would even be any case of them chasing after loses.... Loses is inescapable especially when it concerns gambling, and when folks accept this fact and only stake that amount that they can loose, then there would be little or no pressure, no panic, no desperation, no that I must win this money back mindset. Folks will play, lose and move on.

I feel that at most times, whenever I am in a losing streak I don't feel of stopping that until the end of the day, I should have at least some wins. It's an ego issue and that's hard to remove because no matter how honest we are with ourselves. When we're badly hit by losses, sometimes it will take us a day before we finally accept of what happened. But to solve this, acceptance is the key for a gambler to avoid being close to getting addicted and avoid chasing losses.

This is typical in our psychology; losses make us value things more than when we have them. This doesn't just happen in gambling; it happens in life, in relationships, in everything. That's why most people, unconsciously, when they lose money gambling, do everything possible to try to recover it and avoid that uncomfortable feeling of having made those bad decisions. I think the best thing is to forget about it and take a break; it's the healthiest thing I think we can do in those cases, unless you have enough money to do so.

Some are gambling in an unaffordable manner just because of misconception they had one playing, there are times we are going to feels too sure of the bet we play and not knowing it's only take risk to play and win, while on the common occasions with gambling, we often lose more than we can make it in gambling, so anyone should not have such expectation of perpectual winning, when they have taking risk at every cost.

For those that are greedy, their brain easily triggers them to chase their losses because they have greed in them. A gambler that is discipline will not chase after losses because he knows that there's no guarantee to recover from it. Although, all gamblers have greed but some knows how to control it, but some gamblers let it control them because they are not discipline. As a responsible gambler, you must have to accept your defeat and don't allow you ego/pride to make you chase after your losses because you can't accept defeats.

Understanding how gambling works is very important if anyone is to gamble with a without any problems along the way.its due to lack of sufficient understanding of what gambling entails that is why most Gambler's will always try to gamble irresponsibly using monies that they can't sustain in gambling. No gambler should chase his lossing thinking that he is going to get back what has been lost. The more one keeps chasing his losses the more you expose yourself to the negative effects of gambling. Responsible Gambling practice involves one to be content and don't think of getting back your losses. One thing that makes people to Chase loses is the fact that they wants to beat the Casino which is not possible because the Casino is one place that you can't outsmart and win. The Casino must always win you in gambling.

We just can’t accept it and move on. It is psychological.
Think about it, in the morning you wake up and you have $1000 in your account. Then you played a few games, a few more and book by the afternoon you have $0. Where did the money go? Poof. All gone. How to get it back? Obviously we all know the smartest solution. No I won’t say “stop playing and go do something else” the smart way is to deposit more money take more risks and get that $1000 back. Yeah baby. This is how a real gambler would do it. This is gamblerstalk.org. We are not here to babysit you. You lost $1000? Stop crying. Deposit $2000 more, play and take your $1k back.

Great topic that explains the most common case that triggers addiction and even other side effects, this little phrase in our brain has a significant effect as you explained here. I personally been through this, I have wrote a whole topic about my experience and how a small loss took me to bad situations trying to recover that first little money. Let's say you've lost 50$, then made a deposit of 100$ o recover, now you have a total loss of 150$, right after that you may try to take a loan of 200$ or more... This accumulation may increase very fast to unimaginable amounts. I have learned a lesson that gambling is a fun activity that comes with risks and downsides, I had to experience the addiction myself to understand how hard it is and to not underestimate people who couldn't recover or judge them.

The question as to why gamblers keep chasing losses has been discussed in the forum several times and I have come to the conclusion that it is just matter of personal decision. You can choose not to chase if you decide not to but it is easy to get carried away by your losses and trying to recover. In order to fund yourself down on this path you must always gamble with an amount you can lose comfortably

You can choose not to chase if you decide not to but it is easy to get carried away by your losses and trying to recover. In order to fund yourself down on this path you must always gamble with an amount you can lose comfortably We do have our own decisions on everything on which it will be that up to you whether you would be that proceeding or actually be doing it or not. Lets say that we are talking about gambling losses on which this is the very common scenario or results on which a certain individual will be able to experience at the time that they do gamble. Chasing up loses is very common because the primary thing that comes up into your mind is that your next bet or roll will be that a win and be able to hit up some nasty amount on which you will be able to bring up your loses which we know that this is that very hard to determine since everything will be basing up with luck. If you arent that good when it comes to self control, then you are that putting up yourself into trouble specially on finances. Usually gamblers do mess up their lives just because of their wrong decisions or actions towards gambling. We do know that gambling should be just that for fun and entertainment and not to make yourself that get rich. If you do have that kind of mentality at the time that you do gamble then its expected that in the end of the line on which you would be ending up on losing up that big time and this is where you will be starting on having those regrets that you shouldn't have done that.

Chasing losses is indeed one of the early signs of being addicted. But many gamblers do this for certain reasons because they see as if there is hope waiting for them. In fact, in gambling there is no such thing as chasing losses if circumstances do not allow it and at times like that you are required to rest so that your mind can be refreshed. It's no wonder why many people advise you to be wise when gambling and be a responsible gambler. This has a strong basis, one of which is that there is no psychological pressure to avoid an addiction that is difficult to get out of. In gambling responsibly, several things also need to be regulated, such as time and money limits allocated. The money is gone, which means it's time to rest and come back tomorrow.

This is well captured. Going after losses looks like solving a problem, yet it is just your emotions trying do away with discomfort. As soon as focus goes from playing to fixing the loss, clear thinking begins to fade out and then there will be increase in risk taking. This is the reason why a single rough session is capable of diving into patterns which would seem like addiction. The safest time is the period you simply accept the loss and step away, even if it feels discomforting. The moment of break is what protects you far better than any attempt to recover spin or bet.

It is an easy thing to get caught up in. After all, you have to win eventually right? Chasing losses can be a good way to get your money back after a mistake, but it can also be a good way to lose all your money. It is a gamble on top of a gamble. Maybe nice to get lucky once in a while, but not a tactic you would want to rely on.

Ops try as much as possible to always engage with people on your threads, in discussion, I have seen you opened many threads with good discussions and comments, but you have zero engagement on those threads even this thread also. Back to the topic of why gamblers Chase their losses, the answer is simple, they chase the loses with hope of recovering, so you are not far from the Truth, but the end of that is somewhat unpredictable and not always good for them since they will tend to lose even more in the process.
Maybe he was confused enough to reply to a comment on a thread he created himself, which shows that he is not responsible for the discussion he started. The hope is always about winning, people who can recover their money gamble again and hope to make a profit, but in the end they lose again and again, the losses get deeper and deeper and they don't realize they are trapped in their own thoughts, yes, that's all the beginning of the destruction of your wallet.

Possibly because they haven't realized that chasing losses can backfire royally. Until people learn by themselves, or from others that it's futile to do so, they won't come to their senses. According to research, chasing losses is actually more of a psychological matter, than it is, a logical one. Apparently, when you lose money, your brain triggers a so- called ' recovery mode' that makes you want to get/ win it back... That might possibly be true, because this behavior is seen even aside from gambling.
