Gamblers keep on chasing losses even at the times when they are losing because most of them can't accept losses. not being bale to accept losses is the reason why a lot of people end up trying to back what they have lost. Another reason why most people chase losses is addiction, not having any reason but just enjoying the feeling that comes with it even when it is detrimental to them. chasing losses doesn't always end well, in the long run gamblers that do this are going to end up losing more, it takes more from gamblers
If a gambler can not simply accept the loses he had incurred from gambling, it means that the person will have a bad time in gambling tying to make profits. Nobody is being forced to gamble and whether we tried to earn money from gambling and we are not getting any serious outcome, it is better to leave gambling alone and not to drag it by trying to gamble too often to recover the loses that has been done and can not be undone. Accepting a lose after gambling is a sign of maturity to understand that not everytime we should be expecting a win.

Not just in gambling.  I've seen people lose in lots of ways and then try to dig themselves out only to make the hole deeper for themselves.  I don't know why it is that some people can't admit when they've made a mistake and instead try to burn the world down to cover for themselves, but it happens.  Some people just cannot accept that they are wrong.  Even to themselves.  I could give an example, but then I'd be trolling.

If you said that chasing after loss is more about psychological matter I would agree with you on that because someone who is with his or her right senses will never chase after losses knowing fully well that there's no way he would get them back. So yeah chasing after loses is actually more about psychological matter, let's say their brains is not functioning properly because i could remember telling a friend that he should stop chasing after losses as he can't get them Beck but he insisted that he believed that some they he would definitely recover from his lost then i just decided to let him be because i know that he don't know what he's saying.

Its normal for any person to commit mistakes and losses particularly in gambling, but its odd or strange if that person keeps denying it and won't accept the fact that he has end up losing all his funds. That's why he keep chasing his losses until he ended up losing everything, losing all his means to gamble.

Realistically, this kind of practice is not helping anymore. It will only put yourself at the worst scenario of losing, until it gets you affected your whole well being.

Many gamblers couldn't accept it because they already assumed that they would win. They borrowed money, they took a loan for gambling, and then lost. So for them to pay the debt, they have to continue gambling. They are not chasing losses, but rather chasing to win in order to pay their debts.

Unfortunately, the results are still the same. The longer they stay, the more losses they incur. In the end, instead of recovery, they were in terrible losses and huge debts.

It is indeed very difficult to keep calm when you think about how much money you have lost in gambling and maybe you wanna give a last try to recover it. The problem is that most people never really mean a "last try" yet they continue with conscience or unconscious about what they are really doing trying to recover such loses that bring further ones. I have been myself in that position and the only way I have found out to work so far is to keep the money in your wallet and see the difference compared when you used to deposit money in the casinos. Personally I am developing a project how I have overcome gambling and living relatively free from it yet it is still early to post results here, once it is done I will post an extensive thread sharing my experience, it needs a minimum of few weeks to few months to finish it if I can.
I understand why someone might lose their temper thinking about the money they lost. But you have to think that you actually gained enjoyment if you played for fun. Because even when you play football, for example, with friends, you waste time, but you did it to have fun, to stay healthy and so on. It all starts from how you conceive the game, whether you conceive it as entertainment or as a way to make money.

very true, and I'm sure 90% of gamblers have experienced that, and many gamblers are actually aware of what they did after the game is over but somehow we always almost repeat the same mistake, which initially we were actually able to lose but because we felt unwilling we ended up trying to recover it. Even experienced gamblers like me sometimes do the same thing but not as bad as before

According to research, chasing losses is actually more of a psychological matter, than it is, a logical one.

According to research? You don’t need no research to see that it’s true. There’s no logic in trying to gain something using the same method that caused your loss. But unfortunately, many people do this again and again, and the only thing I can think of to explain it is a kind of glitch in their brain — something similar to a rabbit going into a frozen state when it sees a big snake instead of running away.

According to research, chasing losses is actually more of a psychological matter, than it is, a logical one. Apparently, when you lose money, your brain triggers a so- called ' recovery mode' that makes you want to get/ win it back, just cause you don't want the day to end in the negative. It becomes less about the game and more about the chase. At that moment your ego's trying to fix the loss. This might look like a big motivator as the individual is simply refusing to give up, but, it usually almost always amounts to bigger loss, desperate moves/ decision, and more losses. Research shows that most addiction cases start from just one bad day of loss that was tried to be fixed/ repaired, instead of being accepted.
"According to research..." And then I burst into laughter. Do we really need to conduct research to understand the nature of the issue? Naturally, it's a matter of reason and psychology. Logic is completely out of the question. It's relegated to the background. This is clearly not the place to discuss it. If you think about it, the problem is both easy and difficult at the same time. Everything is relative. Is it worth digging deeper? And why, when everything is so clear?

Even if they are aware, that will not stops them to chase the losses. They believes that one bet will recovering losses. It makes them to placing high bet. They just believes that the next round are the time for them to wins. Not just almost repeat the same mistake but we did that over and over. We says it is enough and no more mistakes. It is just a comforting sentence for us that already made the mistakes.

All you have analyze here is the simple characteristic of a good gambler, no gambler quits after few losses they keep betting hoping to win and recoup what they have lost while trying to chase a win and this sometimes leads someone to become addicted to gambling because ones spirit won't be at ease until he wins back his lost money but in as much as we are clamouring to win back what we have lost nor chasing games in other to win, we should bet responsibly too and have a budget for ourselves so we don't go bankrupt and broke.

Those of us that gambles should see gambling as fun and entertainment because if you attach your emotions to it , you might end up having high blood pressure from it, once you remember all the money you have lost and yet you are not winning you begin to have mental health issues and unstableness so we should bet with what we can lose without regrets.

very true, and I'm sure 90% of gamblers have experienced that, and many gamblers are actually aware of what they did after the game is over but somehow we always almost repeat the same mistake, which initially we were actually able to lose but because we felt unwilling we ended up trying to recover it. Even experienced gamblers like me sometimes do the same thing but not as bad as before
Even if they are aware, that will not stops them to chase the losses. They believes that one bet will recovering losses. It makes them to placing high bet. They just believes that the next round are the time for them to wins. Not just almost repeat the same mistake but we did that over and over. We says it is enough and no more mistakes. It is just a comforting sentence for us that already made the mistakes.
Living in illusion is very bad and can lead you astray. Those gamblers that wouldn't stop the game because they believe the next game will recover back their losses, they'll end up losing all their bankroll before they will realize their mistakes but it's too late. When you're greedy and can't accept your losses because you feel it's a sign of weakness, fustration and addiction will be the order of the day.

The strong need to recover investment can most times be a substantial instigating factor of psychological strains and economic instability in a person. I have also learned that emotional outburst when one is losing only aggravates the situation further and exposes him to the danger of contracting serious cases of physical illness. There should be definite financial boundaries that ensure that this activity has a safety level that is maintained as far as entertainment is concerned. By not being overly ambitious in our quest to win we are able to retain our well being not mentioning the much more valuable inner peace.

The worst decision a gambler would make is gambling with huge amount to recover quickly that is how you end up putting yourself danger because it's not possible to get rich overnight in gambling due to the fact that the game is for the house to benefit more than the gamblers.

Some gamblers don't know what they want, therefore they keep on chasing after losses as to be able to meet up with some personal demands for money, but they must have forgotten that gambling is not seen like other investments we do, we play to have fun and the luck for winning may come or not, that is why we cannot predict about it and take the risk to play either to win or lose and not to chase after losses.

There could be more than enough reasons why gamblers are chasing after losses best known to themselves, however, this is not what should be found with us, if others are not getting it right, then we must not also join them constituting the same approach in a wrong manner, some gamblers easily lose focus in gambling, after making huge mistakes, then they start to run after the losses in other to recover.
For you to decide not to join them, it means is either you create your own strategy that you will be using or you forget about gambling while using your usual way of gambling which might not be profitable. Making losing due to gambling is as a result of not planning well and taking your time to check the game you are able to gamble your money on to make extra money. Also you need to understand that making loses can attract winning because their is no way you will be making loses that you are not going to make profits and this is vice versa.

That kind of mentality put them in great danger as using huge amount of money and play irresponsibly leads them to lose everything, most of the time, the gambler only realize things when they already suffer and evn how regretful they are there's nothing they can do to recover their money, either to add some more which mostly happened or decide to quit permanently and change their perception about gambling and save their butt to lose more money out of it.

Some gamblers gamble to win and make money over the long term. Seasonal gamblers have a lower risk of addiction because they choose a good time to win. They know that the loss will be higher but prepare for the bet and increase their budget allocation for sports betting.

I allocate my budget for sports betting based on the analysis of the teams and the odds. Although each bet has a chance of winning based on skill the chance of losing is almost equal.

Even if you gamble for fun you will still be at risk of addiction until you can control yourself. Keep your budget allocation within your control to control yourself when gambling.

The answer is simple: because they are irresponsible. This is the only reason why such gamblers always chase their losses. This is why we are always advised to be responsible when engaging in gambling. The reason is simple: to avoid chasing losses, because in the end, it will never work, given that the percentage of losses is much higher than wins. This means that the more you try to recover your losses, the opposite will happen. This is also why many gamblers lose large amounts of money.

Impossible is Nothing! Own the Day!!!

Tis is really true about the psychology of chasing losses, it may not even be about the gam anymore, not even about the fun or entertainment but about how well you will be able to recover all of that which you probably have lost as at the times you were try to get just the fun and some little reward alongside. most often it doesn't end well but a few persons have actually got lucky with this and they eventually recovered but i bet if they should attempt it again, they may not be as lucky at the end of the day, it is mostly better to just not go that path so you be safer and be in a better mind to attempt winning again if you eventually get a chance again at it in a latter day.
