I wouldn't use the word "refused" because they're actually working on it at a slow pace.

In fact, with this recent PR: github.com/spesmilo/electrum/pull/9082
It's theoretically possible to manually create a taproot transaction using internal functions (I haven't tested this).
The ability to create a taproot wallet isn't there yet though.

I would like to see hardware wallet support on Electrum for Android.  Have a Trezor.  As things stand can only use electrum for watch only or very small funds.  I think supporting hardware wallets is very important to secure funds on mobile.

Yeah, this has been in their backlog for almost 5 years now.
One of the main developers even posted an issue regarding it (since Kivi, before QML), here: Hardware wallet support on Android (e.g. trezor)

But sadly, it hasn't been bumped nor updated since no one is currently working on it (for the new QML Android version).

I would like to see proper coin control on Electrum Mobile. I like their desktop version. Electrum and Sparrow are two excellent bitcoin-only wallets on desktop. I am not a fan of Electrum for Android which is why I decided to use Blue Wallet on my phone.

Freezing UTXOs and addresses is a type of coin control, but that's not it. Instead of manually picking the one UTXO that I would like to spend as I do on my computer, why would I need to untick 10 that I don't want to spend to be left with the one that I want?

Biometric unlocking for the app. If I can't use passkeys to unlock the wallet when opening the app or sending a transaction, then I don't want to use it.

The other thing I want is automatic inactivity lock. The app should have a timer and automatically lock itself after a few minutes of inactivity. It's just common sense.

This is in the works and there is already a pull request by Felix that aims to implement it, posted on the first week of December.

I don't think biometric unlocking is crucial. What's wrong with the existing security model, where you encrypt the wallet file with a password and you need to enter the password before you can use and load the wallet? If you connect Electrum with a supported hardware wallet, then you can only make transactions when that device is connected because it holds the private keys.
