I believe the method of writing it down on paper has work perfectly for many with back up including proper security to personal contact with external body and protect to termite and other insect . One can copy it manually and store in a plastic and hide properly in different locations where it can't be hurt, for instance one living in city can stored copied of the seeds phrase in his village and even in the city properly where know one will get knowledge of it should unknown disaster happened on one location of storage the next location can save the holder.

There is no other best way to store your Bitcoins other then writing it down on piece of paper and storing it down at different locations. If you store your seed at only one place then if that seed is destroyed due to any reason then you will lose your crypto forever. The security and storage of seed must not be an afterthought, especially if you have huge number of Bitcoins or any other crypto. Moreover we must also inform our spouse or next of kin where our seed is located, so that in case anything happens to us our Bitcoins are still used by our loved ones.

Writing it down in a personal jotter isn't a bad idea just as long as it's not a public writing material but that's not enough though it should also be duplicated and kept in different locations and this location should be private too. If the amount of bitcoin held is large enough then a metal bulletproof, water resistant and fireproof device that is durable is most preferred but if that looks expensive then having multiple backups on a paper will do just fine. Personally I don't recommend a piece of paper because it can be misplaced I go for a jotter that has a lock.

What if anything happens to the personal jotter when you are off for work or other related reasons and on your arrival you can't see it again, what will become of that which you claim you have written in a private place. The world have gone digitalised that saving informations for future use should not be done in papers but in emails, Apps and other related softwares which can be accessed from any location in as much we still remember our passcodes. To me the best saving place in not in a shit of paper or jotter but online for easy accessibility

A paper with a case in it where you can keep it safe, that's just fine. You're not going to move places then it should be okay for as long as it's kept on one location.

You just have to secure it through some case or whatever you think it's good to put in it, then you can create back ups after that.

You don't move it from time to time because the chance of misplacing and forgetting it if you do that often is high.

We have different ways of keeping our seeds phrase for long years and from lost, because once you misplace your seeds phrase and where you stored the seeds phrase you have lost your coins in that wallet. Some investors don't like to write their seeds phrase down than to memorize them in their head in case they want to make use of their wallets they can make use of any phone or laptop to download the wallet and put the seeds phrase to continue accessing the wallet and the coins inside the wallets.

I guess jotter is the safe place to store seeds phrase, because I have experienced it overe some years and I have never regret of written my seeds phrase on jotter, because very easy for me to locate and start accessing my wallet without any issues.

Steel is indeed the gold standard, but there is a major OpSec risk that people ignore: **The Paper Trail.**

Ordering a branded "Crypto Steel" device online creates a permanent record linking your home address to high-value crypto storage. If that vendor's database gets leaked (like the Ledger e-commerce hack), you become a priority target for a $5 wrench attack.

I prefer the **DIY Anonymous approach**:
1. Go to a local hardware store and pay cash.
2. Buy Stainless Steel washers (Grade 316 is best for corrosion resistance) + a bolt and nut.
3. Buy a cheap set of metal stamps.
4. Stamp the first 4 letters of each seed word onto a washer.

Result: It is fireproof (up to ~1400°C), waterproof, cheap ($10-15), and most importantly — **no one knows you have it**.

This will be the safest though it is not that easy to set up or to craft the words in these stainless steel metals, but it is better than buying online where your address will be exposed and you will put yourself in danger because most of these shipping platforms do rely on KYC to get know their customers better so as to ease their delivery work. When it comes to Bitcoin seed phrase metal, it is not advisable because for you to have purchased it, it means you own a Bitcoin which has indirectly expose to attack because everyone that knows that you have  it will just assume you have Bitcoin saved in the wallet which is very wrong. Therefore, let’s maintain the one we can made in our own to prevent our privacy.

Sometimes , the reason why we frequently need to create new wallet accounts may be because we keep losing track of where we've previously copied our 12 or 24 word seed phrase.

One of the reasons I lost my first wallet account seed phrase was simply because I had copied it in my jotter. It happened that somehow, somehow I lost the jotter. Since I could not retrieve the jotter , I ended up not being able to retrieve my seed phrase. And that was how I lost it.

Now I'm on the verge of opening a new wallet account and my mind is telling me to store it on my phone instead .
But one question still hits me .."What if someone steals your phone?". "And the person that stole your phone already knows your phone password?" Will he not automatically have access to your seed phrase?
All of these questions leaves me in Hobson's choice ...any idea?

The worst thing to do is storing your seeds phrases on your mobile phone that is connected to the internet, you don't know who is watching you because the Apps you gave permission in your phone to access camera, video, photos etc monitors you.
Except if the phone would never be connected to the internet and not use it to go about, just only for the seed phrase.
I prefer writing my seed somewhere safer and keeping it secure. Consider writing it on a metal.

If you lost your Jotta, it means you were carrying it about with the seed phrases you wrote inside, that's the most vonurable thing to do.

The way you guys just comfortably give advice that are wrong amuse me. Why will you say someone to backup a seed please on a piece of paper store in a different locations, like how do you write words on a piece of paper and think you can hide in a different location? Like paper. Common, locations are not some kind of library you can enter and get your information safely.

What you should, paper is vulnerable to fire and water, if that location is compromised by fire, your seed phrase is as good as gone. If the place is flooded with water, the seed phrase is gone. What should you do, use a metal plate, there are plenty of metal plates that you can used but platinum are much more better since they are water resistance, they melt at a very high temperature so incase of fire disaster, it will remain the way it's and even if exposed to air, they don't react. This is much more better than paper that can't withstand high temperature, flood and reaction to the environment.

That is a colossal error to store your keys on your phone. It is a big security threat to your assets because you never can tell which of the apps you have granted permission to access your gadget, and that alone could expose your keys to them, and if they can access it, they can also do away with it, and you will have no idea who did and how they were able to do it. It is wise that we do not store sensitive information on our phones. Saving it in a separate device, different from your phone, would help reduce the risk of you losing your details to hackers and scammers who would then use them against you to extort or steal your assets.

Separate device? This is wrong, seed words should not be backed up in any device, what even makes you think a "separate" device makes things any safer. You either engrave your seed words on a stainless steel or you back it up on a piece of paper. The former is the preferred option, because it offers protection from fire, water and other things that can easily destroy a piece of paper.

The thread has gone one for sometime now, but yet people are still giving terrible advice, when there are a lot of good posts made earlier that has explained the best course of action.
