I got into bitcoin really early on back when bitcoin faucets were a thing and bought around 30 bitcoin for something like 5 dollars and completely forgot about it, just pulled that laptop out from my basement and powered it up and found my wallet was still on it with 30 BTC, i'm shaking and ecstatic, I'm not sure how to exactly go about this does anyone have any tips?

You should stop shaking immediately because I’ve seen one person getting too cocky about his newly found wealth before in this forum and do you know what he did?

He moved his coins to a different address, and he posted his private keys that belonged to his old btc address publicly in the forum.

Boom, right there he lost thousands of fork coins because someone fast entered his private keys to his own wallet and moved the fork coins like bch, btg, bsv whatever…

So, if you keep shaking like that, it is almost certain that you’ll do something stupid soon.

Unlikely this fairytale is true but for the tiny chance that it is, don't forget to claim your coins that came to be through several forks in the past. There must be like 30 bitcoin cash and other coins available, basically just sitting there and waiting to be claimed.

But hey, 1% chance this actually happened. Most likely just a little showoff post to get his daily fix.

That wasn't a fairy tale. See it for yourself. People do dumb things out of excitement all the time.

-snip-
I think he's talking about OP's story (who left the forum after posting it without reading any of the replies),
Not the recent example that you've mentioned.

Otherwise, his follow-up note about claiming those BTC forks will not make sense.

Exactly that. Why would I talk about someone else other than OP, wouldn't make any sense. OP just made one post with a bold claim, no proof or anything. Most likely there is nothing to the story other than the STORY. The other lucky guy actually proved his story, good for him!

Yes, and even so, he missed out on thousands of forks, but at least he enjoyed the main prize in BTC, and even so, he didn't lose much.

This shows us that we should act cautiously when we find a potentially lost fortune, isolating the computer while researching Bitcoin and about private keys. Too much excitement can result in exposed private keys if the person doesn't understand the subject very well, in addition to other details that can compromise identity/privacy and put us at risk.

Since several days have passed and the OP hasn't returned the contact, it's very likely that this discussion will end here. In any case, I wish the OP good luck, whether it's true or not.

OP never came back since the day they created this topic, this found might be true after all, who knows? Where I am confused is how they knew that. Bitcointalk forum is the right place to talk about the lost and found Bitcoin wallet, or is this person not a new user on the forum? Maybe this is a alt account.

God only knows how many scammers must have texted OP, if he is active I will like to know about it Grin.

It could only be 2 reason.
1 What the OP said is not genuinely true. It's just a fabricated story since the account used is a throwaway account.
2 Many scammers have contacted the OP, which is something he should expect after making the claim that 30BTC was seen in his old laptop. He decides to be offline.

God only knows how many scammers must have texted OP, if he is active I will like to know about it Grin.
He created his own downfall and shouldn't hesitate to take the plunge.

Him not coming back for me is a good sign that he's probably figured it out and now living in his retirement just after knowing he's got that much BTC. But the chances that he's also telling a lie is there but it's up to him, we're giving him the benefit of the doubt and if it's real, anything what people say here won't matter to him since he's got his stash ready to make his life all set for the rest of his life.
