I’ve been following Shakur’s career since his professional debut, and I believe Robeisy Ramirez has a legitimate chance of defeating him. After all, Ramirez already bested Shakur in their Olympic gold medal bout. However, given Ramirez’s somewhat rocky path in the professional ranks, I don’t see that matchup happening in the near future.

The fighter you mentioned is actually new to me, so I checked it on BoxRec. From what I saw, the guy already has three losses and hasn’t been doing well lately, especially with those losses to Rafael Espinoza.

Also, when did that Olympic bout even happen? If that was years ago, a lot has probably changed since then. Shakur Stevenson has clearly improved, and Olympic boxing is a different game anyway with different rules compared to the pros. Because of that, we could easily see the opposite result if they ever meet in a pro fight.

I agree that Shakur Stevenson and Robeisy Ramirez are no longer on the same trajectory, even just ten fights into their pro careers. Years ago, when they were in the same weight class, I speculated that their paths might cross again and Shakur could avenge his Olympic loss to Ramirez. Unfortunately, Ramirez’s career hasn’t been looking strong so far, and it seems unlikely they’ll meet in the ring again.

As for Shakur’s next opponent, Conor Benn would be an interesting matchup since Shakur has already called him out. The challenge, however, is that Benn doesn’t hold a belt that would attract promoters to push the fight. It would be ideal if Benn moved down to the 140-pound division to challenge Shakur’s WBO title.

Then the best thing for him to do if he wanted to stay is to unify all the belts at 140 lbs. That will be the best thing that he can do and I don't think that anyone can criticized him. And after that move to the next division and conquer it again. And this could be the same as what his mentor, Buddy Crawford did, and with that he can solidify his legacy and be above some of his contemporaries like Tank Davis. And it's true, Matias already lost so there's no more hype for this guy as he was exposed with no other plan after his power can't hurt his opponent. This will be the perfect plan for Stevenson and take advantage of this weak division to unify.

And speaking of Stevenson's lightweight belt, he was stripped by the WBC already, so there's no way that he could defend that belt.

The Mexico City-based sanctioning organization announced through its website and social media channels Wednesday that it stripped Stevenson of its lightweight title. In its statement, the WBC cited its rule that prohibits champions from simultaneously holding world titles from other governing bodies in weight classes separate from divisions in which they hold WBC belts.

But it's clearly boxing politics here as the WBC asked Stevenson to pay $100,000 to that body for fighting Teo with the WBO belt. And so he doesn't want to pay that huge money so immediately they stripped Stevenson, without giving him more time.

So I guess he will be a true 140 lbs by then although he hinted that he could still go back to 135 lbs.

If I remember correctly, Pacquiao used to hold more than 1 title belt at a time, though he does vacate them voluntarily afterwards, but there was never a report(that I know of) where the organisation stripped him of the belt right after winning another belt from a different division.

They have their own rules and they’ll implement them when they want, but for ordinary boxing fans like us, we don’t really care that much about that, because we already know who the real great boxers are in each division. IIRC,  Terence Crawford also got stripped of his belt last year, so this kind of thing isn’t really surprising anymore. But as fans, we still know that Crawford and Shakur Stevenson are the real champions in their respective divisions, belt or no belt.

This belt that was taken from him was his belt on the lower weight division. I was implying that the scammer Tank Davis also move to the higher weight division to super lightweight with Shakur and challenge him there.

This will certainly bring the popularity back to his name after the scammer Tank's fight against Lamont Roach.

IIRC,  Terence Crawford also got stripped of his belt last year, so this kind of thing isn’t really surprising anymore. But as fans, we still know that Crawford and Shakur Stevenson are the real champions in their respective divisions, belt or no belt.

Yes, I remember Crawford as well being stripped on his belt at 147 lbs because he moves up to 154 lbs and now to 168 lbs. So it's true that WBC could be one of the most corrupt organization that we have right now.

$100k? That is big money already to be ask for the recent champion in Shakur. And from what I read, he said along the line that he would rather gave that to his children instead of giving it away to the WBC. I guess he has the balls to go against that WBC just because he move up to a weight class and not carrying their organization.
