What's with Teo? He's going down to a low level trying to provoke Shakur. I've never seen this low level of interaction. Teofimo is trying to imply something.
I know Teofimo loves trash-talking, but you don't have to stoop to this level to provoke his opponent. I think Shakur will mess with Teofimo and show him who the real man is.
Can't wait to see this fight. I hope these two fighters will live up to our expectations.

I believe Teo Lopez is playing mind games, trying to make Shakur lose focus ahead of the fight. But Shakur is a disciplined fighter who knows exactly what to do inside the ring, so I don’t see that happening. Lopez’s trash talk is cheap and below the belt—it can rattle someone who isn’t used to it, but Shakur won’t be shaken. Lopez knows he has his hands full on fight night, so this trash talk feels more like a diversionary tactic than anything else.

The fight is officially on, as both fighters made weight—Lopez coming in at 139.6 lbs and Shakur at 138.6 lbs.
It looks like though Shakur has been shaken with the mind games of Lopez, you can see his reaction during the final press conference so I think this round goes to Lopez. Of course, Shakur will have to go back an focus on this fight, otherwise, if Lopez has been in his mind here, then he could be frustrated early and Teo gonna take advantage of it. Good to see that both of them are within limit, and both could be around 150'ish lbs when they rehydrate so it's about even. But I think Lopez could have the advantage on power here as he is comfortable already in this weight class.

The skill of Teofimo Lopez to destroy the minds of his opponents mentally even prior to the bell is one of the hidden weapons that cannot be undermined. This makes logical sense because you argue that Shakur needs to quickly come to his senses before his plans as a strategist come to a dead in between the battle. We shall wait and wait whether Shakur could increase the emotional maturity to the aggressiveness of Lopez, now enhanced with the physical advantage and the ease in his new weight category.

That's what we call psyche war in boxing, you try to get into your opponents mind before the game. Because prior to the fights, it's more on their mental battle, trash talking and antics in their press conference.

Some of the fans might just laugh it, but for boxers, it's real test and see if they can take advantage of their opponents. I remember during MMA fights wherein one fighter is like provoking the other fighter. But he said after the fight that he wanted to test the distance. On how far or close he will be before he will hit his opponent. So there's reason for this fighters to play mind games before the actual fight.

Yeah, i can see how convenient Teo by trash talking his opponent. It's implying his confidence to win this fight. He knows how Shakur really showed nothing other than beating weaker opponent. So he's in mood to win the game with his speed and aggressiveness.

I don't think Shakur can pin him down cuz he's far quicker. Let's see what Shakur can give to him for this match. I'm rooting on Teo.  Grin

This could actually be part of Teo’s strategy to get inside his opponent’s head.
We’ve seen this before, remember when he was trash talking Loma too, he was the underdog in that fight and still managed to beat a prime Loma.

Because of that, I see this more as mind games. Deep down they know Shakur is a hard boxer to catch, and for someone like that to lose, he has to lose focus first or be forced to change his style.

So, how about you guys—have you decided who to bet on for tonight’s fight? As for me, I’ve already pulled the trigger: I’m betting on a decision win for Shakur Stevenson. I just hope Teo Lopez’s trash talk hasn’t gotten into his head, because staying focused on the game plan is crucial. Any deviation could spell big trouble if he chooses to go toe-to-toe with the stronger Lopez.

Good luck to us all.

The highlights of the first round is all you needed to watch to know how this fight went. Shakur jabbed his way to a unanimous decision victory. His post-fight confrontation with Conor Benn was more exciting than anything that happened during his fight with Teofimo. Shakur’s style of fighting isn’t something that many people will find enjoyable, but we can’t deny that it is highly effective.

For Teofimo, this was no doubt the highest payday of his career. I have to wonder if that played a factor into why he had such an uninspired performance. He created a lot of hype with his trash talking, which was enough for Turki to give him a lot of money, but once the bell rang, he fought like somebody who was ready to accept defeat.

Maybe Shakur really is that good that it was always going to be very one-sided, but considering the level of hype this fight got, selling out MSG, I would have liked for it to be more entertaining.

He keeps trying to penetrate Shakur's defense throughout the fight, but he fails. I just knew in the second round that it's going to be a long night for Teofimo, and I was right.

Teofimo is just another fighter Shakur fought, but it's good that he has no alibi for the fight and gives it to Shakur. It wasn't a boring fight, but it was easy to predict the pace and the outcome.

People are speculating that he will face Connor Behn next, but let's see if this is the next fight he'll do; he will be the most sought-after fighter now.

The jab of Shakur though, it's too much for Teo to penetrate. Game plan of Teo is to attack the body first and they might have thought that after that, if Shakur has been soften, then they will go after the head.

But Shakur is too fast and his reflex is top much, that's why Teo can't get inside until maybe the 8th round wherein is was just the round that I think Teo won as Shakur totally dominated him in any angle.

Conor Benn vs Shakur next? Is Shakur too small for Conor? Will Shakur go up to 147 lbs?

It wasn’t a boring fight, but we weren’t wrong either, Teo just couldn’t beat Shakur. Teo honestly looked like an amateur in that fight, his attacks weren’t effective at all. He couldn’t even land a clean punch on Shakur, and every careless shot he threw just got countered.

He wasn’t quick enough, didn’t adjust during the fight, and his strategy clearly wasn’t working. It really felt like two different levels out there, almost like a mismatch.

Watching that made me think of a the Canelo vs Crawford fight, same result.

Watching that made me think of a the Canelo vs Crawford fight, same result.

Nice observation. Boxers who are really quick are just hard to beat. Crawford, Haney, and Shakur all fall into that category, and that’s a big reason why they became champions.
But that also makes me wonder, why don’t they usually fight someone who’s just as quick as they are? At some point, protecting an undefeated record becomes a priority.

For those who follow Shakur closely, who do you think can actually beat him in this division?

For Teofimo, this was no doubt the highest payday of his career. I have to wonder if that played a factor into why he had such an uninspired performance. He created a lot of hype with his trash talking, which was enough for Turki to give him a lot of money, but once the bell rang, he fought like somebody who was ready to accept defeat.

Gonna be easy money for Shakur if he is going to fight Connor Benn. I think Shakur can move as high as welterweight and then challenge Benn and fought him in England. Teo was exposed here as he doesn't have any game plan at all. Maybe he has, be he hasn't fought a defensive fighter like Shakur that's why he was really lost and don't know what to do inside the ring with him.

For those who follow Shakur closely, who do you think can actually beat him in this division?

I don't think that anyone can beat him at 135-140 lbs, the real challenge for him is at welterweight and that's where the money is as well. Maybe a Devin Haney will be a good fight, but it's going to be boring. Romero and Pitbull Cruz too, style makes fight so I think those two agressive boxers might give him a good test.

There's news that if Connor wants to get a piece of Shakur, there should be a rehydration clause, and he wants it in the super lightweight. As we all know, Connor can balloon to a middleweight on fight night, and that's unfair for Shakur, or maybe they can do a catchweight.

Teofimo knows that, so he is moving up, but it's better for Shakur to wipe out the division and reign as the undisputed champion before moving up to the heavier division. This is what fighters do to establish their legacy: become the undisputed champion, then move up to conquer new territories.

It’s fine to pair him with Haney. At least if two undefeated guys fight, one of them is finally losing that record. On paper it sounds boring because of the similar style, but that’s exactly why it could get interesting. One of them will be forced to change, someone has to take risks and become the aggressor.

Let’s see how it plays out if it happened. Cheesy
Honestly, we don’t often see boxers with the same style fight each other at the championship level, so this would be something different for once.

Shakur definitely was the heavy favorite on this match and so its evident on the results. Now, Shakur's camp needs to find a very good and popular opponent for his next fight. They are eyeing already Connor Benn for his next.
And on this regard, Shakur's camp should be very busy getting a line-up of his fights while he is still bankable in this sports. Because we all know that when a fighter is already in his 35s and above, it is like his charisma and strength starts to decline inside the ring. So hit it while the iron is hot.

I had a bet on Teo, however, after round 7 and witnessing that his eye was bleeding already because of Shakur's jabs, I have stopped watching heheheeh. It was very much boring for me because I again have lost money again on this boxer. The first bet was the fight against Kambosos. I will not bet on Teo anymore hheheheeh.

The next will be King Ry. If he will lose again, I will stop betting on this other Mexican.

Shakur is simply too quick for Teofimo Lopez. He lands punches at will, his defense is superb, and he carries enough power to hurt Lopez. As a result, every time Lopez tries to close the distance, he does so with caution. Yet, despite his efforts, Lopez just can’t connect with the kind of solid shots that could shift the momentum of the fight.

I’ve been following Shakur’s career since his professional debut, and I believe Robeisy Ramirez has a legitimate chance of defeating him. After all, Ramirez already bested Shakur in their Olympic gold medal bout. However, given Ramirez’s somewhat rocky path in the professional ranks, I don’t see that matchup happening in the near future.

The fighter you mentioned is actually new to me, so I checked it on BoxRec. From what I saw, the guy already has three losses and hasn’t been doing well lately, especially with those losses to Rafael Espinoza.

Also, when did that Olympic bout even happen? If that was years ago, a lot has probably changed since then. Shakur Stevenson has clearly improved, and Olympic boxing is a different game anyway with different rules compared to the pros. Because of that, we could easily see the opposite result if they ever meet in a pro fight.

No mate, Ramirez is too small for Shakur now. Ramirez is fighting at featherweight, which is just 126 lbs. Shakur has gone past that weight and right now in this fight fighting at 140 lbs. So we can't really compare him and Shakur right now. And many Olympic gold medalist turns nothing in the pro ranks, and there are silver medalist or mediocre amateur who became good in professional. So it's hard to compare fights in amateur vs pro. Someone mentions Haney, that could be a good fight. Or maybe Tank Davis, that is if he moves to 140 lbs and recover from his personal issues. Or for the money, fight Ryan Garcia.

To be honest, I don't like all these lightweight classes. No offense to anyone, but I'm not interested in watching some fleas jump... Well, it doesn't make an impression. I myself weigh 90 kg. I need an amazing sight, and that's... 60 kg, give or take. Why do people like to watch sumo? Yes, for the same reason - it is interesting to watch the big sumo wrestlers. So here, the middleweights and heavyweights give us the most impressive sights (not all of them, of course, there are "bags of shit" among them).
