As a mature sports fan it is very important to not allow team loyalty make you biased, I order words if your team has some lapses or not doing well at a particular time be rational enough to point out their flaws...you cannot use achievements of the past to cover up what is happening currently, the team is losing form again and truth be told it might take sometime for them to bounce back on their feet
We should not have a nostalgic evaluation of how our team performs because of the prevailing circumstances. The structural or fitness problems that we experience should not escape our attention when our team is falling. It is common sense that time is the key to improvement, and we will probably overcome this hard times. It is upon us as fans to view things objectively in such a way we are able to put in our support in a constructive and realistic manner.

The fan community is always a kind of sect. It's somewhat similar to a church. For example, in Christianity, there are Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox. There are also Baptists, Mormons, and Anglicans. And each attends their own church to socialize with like-minded people and spend their time wisely, in accordance with their views. Fans, too, form a kind of church. They attribute their teams' losses to random factors, and consider victories to be inevitable. This is completely normal, if a little ridiculous.

Or we may call them fanatics and not just fans, because they will have all the reasons in the world on what is the reason why their team lost. But they don't acknowledge that fact that maybe their players didn't give their 100% that's why they didn't win.

As the saying goes, inches makes champion, so that is the big difference for them. They fall short while the other team has the heart of the champion to fight it out even if it means that they will have to suffer the most just to score.

After Chelsea lost there game yesterday against leeds united yesterday, there fans instead of looking critically into the reasons for there failure they where focused on they number of big teams they have won this season.
The Chelsea and Man Utd mentions got me. I was going to raise eyebrows but then I realized you hit something truthful there. I used to be an ardent Chelsea fan far back until I started observing how boisterous their fans could be, especially during arguments that often led to altercations. Most times, those were arguments anyone could easily see were unreasonable to argue, yet those fans would want to win them 😂 all in the guise of support to the team. Looking back now, it's funny how that was.

Basically we as a fans didn't accept the loses even if possible we want our favourite clubs always won for each games and some fans have started to over reacted when they see their favourite clubs were lost and also these fans will blamed the coaches or the particular players why their clubs lose i think these are the common behaviour in sport especially for soccer that when plenty of people are being the fans of soccer clubs and do not forget too about fanatic fans because usually the fans like this will always be defend on their clubs and they will not accept if someone insulting their clubs because for them those clubs is everything and they will always be support when the clubs has poor pertormance or the club can gets the trophies

Well there are fans who blindly support their idols and even it's clearly showing that kind of bad performances, those types of fans will continue to find ways to make sure that they'll going to defend the team no matter what, which is not good in terms of looking for better perspectives.

Instead of looking for reasons better to be vocal to send the message to the team that they are not performing the way fans wants them to do and they need to evaluate their system if it's still working or maybe they already need to change up and adjust to whatever process that they can to improve their chances to win.

At times we fans are very funny and never forget to put up some already established reasons to justify our teams lost at all times. For example, if Manchester united or Chelsea loses any game, fans always cover there shame with useless excuses gotten from teams history instead of stating the obvious or the analyzed reasons for there teams failure. After Chelsea lost there game yesterday against leeds united yesterday, there fans instead of looking critically into the reasons for there failure they where focused on they number of big teams they have won this season.
That's a means of consolation I would say, no true football fan loves losing and not many choose to accept their losses and address it analytically. Most fans can be delusional enough to ignore the red flags of their team and talk about other team's failures, that's seen on a daily basis where they compare losses with other teams to decide who is better.

There was this time Chelsea played against Arsenal and Moises Caceido was sent off the pitch with a red card leaving Chelsea down to nine men, but they still managed to score first and ended with a draw to Arsenal. This close friend of mine said Enzo Maresca was the best coach in the premier League because of their outstanding performance even after a red card, and no doubts they had a good performance that day.

Now fast forward to Leeds United, this same person said Enzo Maresca was the worst coach and he's killing the team with playing players out of position and I just laughed and said nothing. Now these are fans for you, they support you when you're doing well and would not waste time to dump you when you're on the edge.

Not all fans of a team are like you mean, but only a few. The reason behind your discussion of this topic isn't based on a general survey, but rather on your own personal experiences.
True fans don't seek excuses to cover up losses. They critically analyze the factors behind their favorite team's defeat, even if their critical analysis isn't fully heard by the team's coach. The category of fans you're referring to are those who aren't yet considered fans.

Talking about fans' behaviour feels like a waste of time tbh. You know they have some emotional attachment to something, and most of the time, the responses are irrational. I've seen so many feeling-based analyses from fans of any team, saying their side is better because of this or that. Doesn't help that the internet hyperxiated on a small number of fans who are so loud and angry all the time.

Just ignore them, unless they start attacking you in real time. No point wasting breath or discussing with someone who isn't looking for that in the first place.

We fans can be dramatic a times when our team loss in a game because of the fear of what our opponent team may likely saw or do while celebrating there wins. At this time we usually fail to accept defeat by trying to back up our team blaming others for our team mistake. Fear of admitting fault is a reason why we feel bad when our team didn't win

literally records of past achievements has always been the biases upon which fans do excuse their teams most often after they must have lost a particular game, they hardly pay attention to the fact that these team had some inadequacies for that particular fixture that got them loosing, rather they will want to excuse the fact that they have achieved a lot already this season or the season for which they are making the judgment, but for me i believe it is mostly best to see that every fixture has got its peculiarity and should be judged as such, i know some of the history of meeting with a particular team can form a biases for predictions of the possible outcome of the current game but then they are not going to be exactly same experience so the judgments should always be done on the biases of the now.

You’ve said it. Although there can be some emotional impacts that comes with watching your team being underperformed and losing every single game, and some fans even end up being physical lol. I have this friend who’s a Man U fan, whenever his team loses a game, his countenance changes immediately, he may even decide not to eat or chill with his friends as he always does, he’d just prefer to be alone as he gets pissed off by every little thing. It’s important for fans to understand that no team remains at the top forever, every team have their good moments and the bad too and that’s just part of the fun and that’s what makes the game interesting, no matter how much you want your team to always win, the game isn’t about what you want, and the more people realize this, the better for them.

As if being aggressive after your team or guy loses, making chaos, is going to help, get bet cancelled or game results cancelled or revised Cheesy Such people better learn how to control emotions or support their team or guy. Accept the loss and focus on motivating your favourite for a better performance next time. Today, aggression, fighting or throwing fists are never a solution.

It is a bias that is rooted in almost if not all football fans, we will always have a reason to justify why our favourite team did not perform at their best even when we already know that things are not looking good for them anymore, no one wants to badmouth their own club so instead start talking about past glories to cover up current downfalls, if you are looking for a logic here then you won't see it because as much as we like to analyze overall performance and outcomes of various matches once our favourite team is in play our analysis becomes bias.

As annoying as it may sound, this is what fans do - that is why they are called fans. If they do otherwise, then there is no use calling them fans rather they are just spectators or something. But trust me they know what they are doing and they know the truth. However, they choose the opposite because it is all fun and exciting besides, who doesn't enjoy all the banters? Without the banters, all there would be is just, boring. And this behaviour you cannot separate from fans. Aside football, it is the same behaviours exhibited by fans of celebrities.

The way I support my favourite team is that I criticise them when they are not playing right. And I praise them when they are doing well. If the team I support don't do well and the opposing fans are saying something I know that is the truth I join them to analyse the situation properly and suggest a solution that I think will help improve the team performance even though I know that what I am saying the management of the club won't see it. I am not a fan that support my favourite club blindly. If they are going about things the wrong way I criticise them publicly. If you support a team with unbiased mind opposing fans can't taunt you easily.

We the fans can not accept the loss because of the love we have for the club and the players, did you know that the fans always support the club with their heart? Even the players will not understand the kind of feelings the fans are feeling when the team loss a game because the players get paid even when they don’t perform well but the fans don’t get paid, the fans are the ones who buy tickets, using their time to watch and support the team they love.

A team like, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City should always be known as the best teams in the world, let use Real Madrid as an example because it is the best team in the history of football, Real Madrid sacked Ancelotti after having a bad season with the team and they are about to sacked Alonso if he did not turn things around because Real Madrid performance is very poor, losing to teams that they are not supposed to lose to is not acceptable in a team like Real Madrid.

I see how fans discuss such losses on their special boards. There are lots of criticism of players/coach, lots of discussions what transfers their team need, etc. But it is talks between team fans. When we read common boards - they protect their team as they can. If there is nothing to pride right know - they try to find some special moments in past. Try to find such boards and compare it - you`ll see big difference how fans find their team.

Football fans, unfortunately, are known worldwide for their inappropriate behavior (although, of course, there are some very decent and intelligent people among them, too). These decent people are probably even in the majority, but overall, football fans have become "famous" for their fights, drunkenness, and aggression.🤷

For example, I heard a story about sports fans who periodically started real fights with fans of other football teams on the city streets, using bats, brass knuckles, and iron chains. This situation was dangerous for ordinary civilians. As a result, the football team leaders were summoned by the police and told that if they wanted to bash each other's skulls, they should do it in the woods outside the city, not on the streets. And if they didn't agree to these terms, they would all be sent to prison.

Since then, football fans haven't stopped fighting among themselves, but they do it in remote forests, far from the city.

So I'm not at all surprised by the fact that fans don't want to objectively evaluate the results of their favorite team's game. Unfortunately, in such situations, people completely shut down their critical thinking. 🙅
