As a mature sports fan it is very important to not allow team loyalty make you biased, I order words if your team has some lapses or not doing well at a particular time be rational enough to point out their flaws...you cannot use achievements of the past to cover up what is happening currently, the team is losing form again and truth be told it might take sometime for them to bounce back on their feet

You are right, mate, that's what I normally tell some people when I see that they are being biased in judgement of how their team performed, not that they are even gaining any reward for making false defense but they just do it for fun or anger, I don't know if there's any concrete reason for that. I stopped doing such argument after knowing that some people are just like that.

We should not have a nostalgic evaluation of how our team performs because of the prevailing circumstances. The structural or fitness problems that we experience should not escape our attention when our team is falling. It is common sense that time is the key to improvement, and we will probably overcome this hard times. However, fans will usually start defending their team when it starts getting criticized by others for its poor performance. They are more easily provoked emotionally and make emotional defenses that bring up things like the team's past and so on. And that's normal.
But in normal situations, without anything provoking their emotions, they usually also like to criticize the team they love. In fact, fans usually have a more critical view of the team they love. That's why we often see a group of fans of a club expressing dissatisfaction with certain decisions made by a coach for the club or similar issues.

Your Submission is right but fans wants the best for their respective clubs and they don't want to hear of loses that's the zeal and expectations of every serious fan, as an Arsenal fan I was hurt to see my team lost to Aston Villa, this is the same team that deprived us of becoming the champions of the premier League two seasons ago, so you can see the agony we go through as fans so we will also want our teams to win.

Lol that's funny, this has become a tradition for fans as they don't accept their teams defeats or fault, they will always look for excuses just to justify their faults and this has become part of them, that they might even engage themselves or involve themselves into arguements that might lead to fighting or misunderstanding between one.

Are you expecting the fans to be saying the truth about their team when they are together with their opponents, who are there to always mock them? I don’t think that is possible. What is the point of being a fans when you cannot defend your team when opponent are therr to mock?

It’s not that fans always give excuses when they lose games or when their team is in poor form always.They also do say the truth and make good analysis with others who support the same team. actually these things are much more common in football and cricket. i have seen many times that when a team loses the behavior of that team’s fans changes. instead of finding mistakes in their own team’s play they start bringing up old history. this does not happen only with chelsea or manchester united. the bigger the team the bigger the fanbase. real madrid and barcelona fans talk the most about behavior and history. if an el classico match happens between these two teams then the fans of both sides create more criticism. when one team loses they do not accept their players’ failure and keep dragging what happened in the past. the bigger the team the more this kind of thing happens. so i think it is normal thinks for any fans.
