Greetings to the great people of Naija forum, I was touched to bring up this topic here after having deep thoughts on how Nigeria economy is, and the reasons behind it. It will interest us to know that Nigeria is a country blessed with numerous natural resources but concentrate majorly on oil exploration. But because of the activities of the oil cabals our refineries have remained unfunctionable for more than a decade now, the oil cabals resort in oil importation while the nations owned oil industry remains unfunctionable.

There are three major refineries owned by Nigeria, Port-harcourt refinery, Warri refinery and Kaduna refinery. These refineries have helped in boosting the nation's economy and helped in keeping cost of transportation in moderation, but the oil cabals have jeopardized the oil sector. This oil cabals includes Nigeria top politicians, and other major stake holders, they don't want the refineries to be fixed in other not to disrupt their oil business.

Another area Nigeria government has neglected so much is Agriculture, There is so much fertility in our land that Nigerians can cultivate diverse crops. If only the government can assist farmers with loans, good roads and create an enabling environment for farmers to engage in their farming activities without any sort of threat, our farmers can produce enough food, reduce cost of living and boost the economy as well.

What is your take on this?

To begin with this fact that Nigeria has solid minerals in abundance but choose to focus majorly on the oil’s sector to run the country is a problem that has kept out dear country in the state we found our self.if you look at the developed nations they do not depend on on only one source of income. To make the matter worse we call our self an oil nation yet we do not have a working refinery very sad.

If Dangote can build a refinery single handedly then it’s very unfortunate that our leader don’t have this country at heart.

On the other hand i will say the immediate past government made and improvements on our farm products but I guess this government isn’t ready to look at that aspect

Absoulately True.

The only reason we nigerians are lagging behind is because of these. When our country's resources are being wasted due to such neglect but there is no initiative to monitor them. If these were properly maintained, a country like Nigeria would not be so lagging behind. The two main aspects of a country's economy can go a long way through the development of the oil center and the agricultural sector. But even though oil and agriculture are two important and good means of earning money, we are not able to use them properly. Our government is ruined by corrupt people because of which they are corrupt in the country's oil business, division of power and political interests, we are still not able to come forward well.

On the other hand, we have abundant natural resources, one of which is the agricultural sector. Neglecting it means putting a country at serious risk. Our country's economy would have gone a long way if we could have utilized the agricultural sector properly. Despite having a lot of land in our country, farmers cannot cultivate it well, which is why we are so lagging behind. If this continues, it can be said without a doubt that we will face famine one day.

Your topic is great actually but this is not the right place for it, politics and society is best for it. Haven't said that Nigerian as a country is naturally endowed with so much minerals resources, various oil blocks and so much more , we are blessed indeed but bad leaders has always been the problem of Nigerian right from origin and until we look at that direction and fix bad government once and for all we will keep having the same complains and even worst.

I know off course you are from Nigerian and am sure you are updated of the recent killings and kidnappings going on in some of the various parts of the country, which am sure we are not even surpose to be talking about oil matters at this point because one have to survive first before even talking about wealth or assets. Nigeria is gone Sorry to say it but that is the bitter truth and I just need to spit it out, it will only take revolution, as in flushing out all the evil, corrupt  and the heartless leaders that doesn't care about their subject, until we take off fear and stand as a team and pull them out of office we will continue to complain endlessly without solution.
