Greetings to the great people of Naija forum, I was touched to bring up this topic here after having deep thoughts on how Nigeria economy is, and the reasons behind it. It will interest us to know that Nigeria is a country blessed with numerous natural resources but concentrate majorly on oil exploration. But because of the activities of the oil cabals our refineries have remained unfunctionable for more than a decade now, the oil cabals resort in oil importation while the nations owned oil industry remains unfunctionable.
To begin with this fact that Nigeria has solid minerals in abundance but choose to focus majorly on the oil’s sector to run the country is a problem that has kept out dear country in the state we found our self.if you look at the developed nations they do not depend on on only one source of income. To make the matter worse we call our self an oil nation yet we do not have a working refinery very sad.
There are three major refineries owned by Nigeria, Port-harcourt refinery, Warri refinery and Kaduna refinery. These refineries have helped in boosting the nation's economy and helped in keeping cost of transportation in moderation, but the oil cabals have jeopardized the oil sector. This oil cabals includes Nigeria top politicians, and other major stake holders, they don't want the refineries to be fixed in other not to disrupt their oil business.
If Dangote can build a refinery single handedly then it’s very unfortunate that our leader don’t have this country at heart.
Another area Nigeria government has neglected so much is Agriculture, There is so much fertility in our land that Nigerians can cultivate diverse crops. If only the government can assist farmers with loans, good roads and create an enabling environment for farmers to engage in their farming activities without any sort of threat, our farmers can produce enough food, reduce cost of living and boost the economy as well.
What is your take on this?
On the other hand i will say the immediate past government made and improvements on our farm products but I guess this government isn’t ready to look at that aspect
