Hi guys! I am The Next Big Thinger. I also go by other aliases such as TheNextBigThinger0x1, TheNextBigThinger0x2 and so on that I signed up in an attempt to circumvent what I believe was an unjustified IP ban before I ultimately gave up and paid some sats to lift it.

As you may have guessed, my job is identifying Next Big Things. In my past, I identified some B and A class talent before they even released their major titles. Currently, I am involved with some media project with the goal to grow it into The Next Big Thing.

In this thread, I will share advice how to identify The Next Big Thing. I can't really promise that you will find the Bitcoin 2.0, because there is nothing second best to bitcoin (hahaha clickbait title lmao). However, I can tell which traits are shared by all sorts of The Next Big Thing. Using this set of rules, you will have an easier time identifying all kinds of The Next Big Thing, whether it is a startup, a technology, a TV show, a freelance artist, or even your local street musician. Let's go!

Rule 1. Very few people want The Next Big Thing until it grows Big.
It is easy to want bitcoin now, when it costs around 100.000$. But it's a completely different game to have wanted it when it costed less than a dollar, even not valued at all in its early days.

Rule 2. Once everyone is reaping the seeds of The Next Big Thing, one can no longer reap as much as before.
Unsurprisingly, most people miss the bus. By the point everyone, including Andreessen Horowitz and their mama are talking about The Next Big Thing, it becomes The Current Big Thing, and you are already late to the party! It's not bad to try to profit off The Current Big Thing, but if you want as much ROI as possible (as well as bragging rights + honorary OG title), make sure to not miss your plane.

Rule 3. The Next Big Thing grows slow.
It takes disproportionate amount of time for The Next Big Thing to mature. This time period is usually incredibly frustrating and demoralizing. Cheer up, captain! Your ship has to gain some momentum before it skyrockets. Most startups struggle for years before they finally turn profitable. I know, it's painful and heartbreaking especially if The Next Big Thing is dear to you at a deep personal level, but you will have to grow through it together with The Next Big Thing. No plane takes off without acceleration; no Next Big Thing grows up without momentum. Stock up on your patience!

Rule 4. The Next Big Thing requires love and care to grow.
You can't just throw money onto The Next Big Thing and expect it to grow overnight. You have to grow it! You have to work on it, spread the word about it, take care of it. You have to love it. If not you, then someone else has to take care of The Next Big Thing. Otherwise, The Next Big Thing will never grow Big.

Rule 5. The Next Big Thing has a community just as big - but in the size of hearts rather than sheer numbers.
Since someone has to take care of The Next Big Thing, it always has a passionate community of people who love it and see its beauty that is completely missed by others. Such communities are never big, but are united by shared values and common love to The Next Big Thing. It's easy to spot such a community: if someone keeps talking about something you have never heard about with the same passion everyone else talks about The Current Big Thing, ask them to introduce you to the club, and you will likely witness the very making of The Next Big Thing.

Rule 6. The community around The Next Big Thing prioritize value over profit.
Probably the best litmus test to distinguish The Next Big Thing from some stupid scam is to see the direction of casuality between value and profit in its community. The communities around The Next Big Thing first fall in love with the value it brings to the world and then realize that they can make a shit ton of money of it. Unlike genuine Next Big Thingers, grifters and their scams first come for the money and then justify their shitcoin gamble with some delusions of value and impact. They are stupid. Value and impact always comes before the money. If the community has completely inverse intuitions, it's very unlikely that it is The Next Big Thing.

Rule 7. The Next Big Thing and its pioneers are hated and misunderstood by everyone else at an irrational, emotional level.
People who do not have the eye for The Next Big Thing will always hate it and people who love it. They will call it all kind of inane words that ever existed. They will call The Next Big Thing stupid, retarded, scam, Ponzi scheme, bubble. They will call its pioneers deranged, delusional, imbeciles, lunatics, clowns, idiots. However, one should not care about any of these objections, because none of them are reasonable. They are nothing more than attempts of ignorant people to justify their irrational fear of something new, something they don't understand. Never take an emotional excuse as an argument. Once The Next Big Thing grows, only time will tell who really was a delusional imbecile lunatic clown idiot.

Rule 8. The Next Big Thing has the signature of the Big Talent, and the Big Talent is often The Next Big Thing too.
The Next Big Thing is always started by someone very special, someone whose Talent is Big enough to start a thing bigger than themselves. If you have seen enough small and insignificant things, then once you look at The Next Big Thing, you will be stunned how beautiful and elegant it is. This is the signature of The Big Talent that created this Next Big Thing. It's relatively easy to recognize the signature of The Big Talent in any Big Thing, so look for it in the first place.

Rule 9. The Next Big Thing can be found everywhere but only by those with the eyes to see.
It is amazing how many opportunities are out there. However, you are order to have a certain taste and the eye for The Next Big Thing in order to not miss it. Most people miss both the sense for The Next Big Thing and The Next Big Thing itself, consequently. Unfortunately, there is no other way to develop the intuition for The Next Big Thing than to be curious about something, keep constantly educating yourself, and educating yourself in depth rather than in breadth, which means spending time learning things that are smaller and less significant, being annoyed with them, being fed up with them, wondering why they even get so much attention if they are so little and insignificant. Then, you will suddenly notice The Next Big Thing. It will not be the product of your conscious analysis - you will just realize in a moment that it is the thing. You will know it from the very first moment, because it will feel like it has to be The Current Big Thing, including the signature of The Big Talent, but for some reason it is only going to become The Next Big Thing.

Rule 10. The Next Big Thing is not made for everyone, and not everyone is made for The Next Big Thing.
Very few people are capable of identifying The Next Big Thing. For another example, I personally know someone who spotted a major company that develops AI models, more than a year before they rose to prominence. They are insanely educated about everything related to AI and machine learning, probably the most AI-pilled person I have ever met, and once they came across the fruits of labor of that startup, they were stunned to see how little known it was at that point! They were the first person to even recognize the potential of their products, and it took years for them to develop expertise this deep to even realize how underrated that startup was, and just another year or so to be proven right. All while everyone else were sleeping on it! This challenge of learning, curiosity and patience is clearly not for everyone, and most people drop out already when they need to learn something new. However, if you can withstand this challenge, The Next Big Thing will discover you sooner than you'd discover it on your own, and you will enjoy the opportunity missed by 99.9% of people.

You have learnt how to identify The Next Big Thing. Now you probably realize that you have heard about something that satisfies a surprising amount of above points. So, what do you believe is going to be The Next Big Thing, anon?

I have created this thread definitely not to steal The Next Big Thing of yours!!! xDDDD
