Do you gamble more during Christmas/Holidays?

I definitely gamble more because of one simple reason. I have talked about this curiosity before in the forum, but in Spain we have the Christmas Lottery, that is played by up to a 80% of the adult population, as it has become a social event. That's insane!!

Although there is only a 15% of chance of winning something, tickets start being sold in Summer and by the end of the year most people have spent hundreds of euros (every ticket is worth 20 euros).

So, although I consider that I'm in the middle of the definition from the casual to the regular gambler, Christmas is that part of the year when my budget for gambling increases well beyond my usual limits.

Wow, that’s incredible,  80% participation is huge! It must make the top prize in that lottery absolutely massive with so many people taking part.
Just out of curiosity, what’s the average first prize in the Spanish Christmas Lottery?

The prize is not that much, only 400k per lottery ticket. It has been the same prize since ages and the government plans to raise it to 500k next year (and also the price of each ticket, accordingly, to 25 euros).

In the past you could buy two or three houses and the car with the first prize, the "Gordo" (Big one), and make a living from it, but nowadays it only helps with your own house and not much more. But people keep playing.

The good thing is that there are a lot of minor prizes and a 15% of the tickets get rewarded. It's also quite usual to get your money back with multiple refunds.

I don't have a holiday season since I am not on 9 to 5 job but in the general scale, yes the Christmas season is where most of the gambling activities are recorded across the globe. For me, it's the same, but it does increase my gambling activity a little. No I don't, I gamble in my normal way since it is Christmas holiday, that is when I am free to go to places and pay visitations to some friends and families that I don't often see due to my busy schedules within the Year, also pay attention to other activities, since I have given all my best within the year in gambling, no other bonuses can entise me but I make sure I don't skip my gambling activities, except I am less busy within the festive period, then I can have additional games to myself.

It does affect my gambling activities.  Promotions during Christmas are very enticing.  Casinos often have lots of bonus program that is more generous than their regular bonuses and promotions.  Some casinos have a raffle where the requirement to have a ticket to participate in the raffle is just a wagering requirement, and the reward can be withdrawn anytime.  Other casinos have daily attendance, which rewards loot boxes containing a certain amount of money.

So I do not think that gamblers won't get more active during the holiday when bonus is given generously.

The Holiday is a time to relax and have fun with families and I don't find it to be a time to gamble or play games that involves money so it does not make me to feel emotional during the festival period. I know mood can change and I might choose to play around with few dollars to see if I can make some profits but this will not be with big money.

yes different casino will want to use bonuses to entice gambler to there platform  . This will affect gambling habits for those gambler that lack self control and for those that already have control over there gambling habits it won't really be an issue. As for me it won't be an issue because I don't gamble with More than what I can afford to lose. I don't care and I gamble the way I was gambling before. Those who pursue bonuses to gamble end of to be addicted gamblers though not all but most. I'm not disputing that casinos don't offer bonus obviously they do it, and surely the reason why casinos always come up with surprises is just to get more users in thier platforms because they know that majority will be interested in the bonus. Well, I am not not really interested in slot games which themed around a particular event, or the seasonal one. I have only been interested in the original so far. Maybe the Christmas bonuses will entice me to play, but I don't think it will affect my gambling habits. I will just play as my usual way, which is not to spend too long in one session. Personally, I am more active on online games (not gambling) that have Christmas events, and that also depends on whether I have free time, or not. By the way, every gambler shouldn't change their gambling habits just because of bonuses, or other factors. Ideally, every gambler should play responsibly, and not change their ideal mindset for any reason, so that they don't fall into bad habits that might happen.
