I haven’t experienced it myself but if a casino gets shutdown for committing illegal activities or violence, then it means regulators are not doing their jobs. Physical casinos are constantly getting checked by the regulators to keep them safe for the players. If things got out of hand at some point, it would mean that the regulators weren’t doing their jobs. I would held the government or whoever is in charge of enforcing the regulations responsible at this point more than the casino. People don’t live under regulations. We are not monitored by a higher authority 7/24 to prevent any crime we would commit. people can go commit a crime almost freely but casinos don’t operate the same way. The regulators are there to prevent them from committing crimes.

Here's what I meant.

If you ever experience a casino shutdown as a result of violence or illegal activities from a physical casino?

Share your experience from any and what happened that led to the shutdown, this will help us to learn and know how we could possibly prevent ourselves from any similar occurrences and remain unaffected in situations whereby it happened.

Well, I was playing on Full Tilt Poker back in 2011 when the FBI seized it. I don't remember exactly how it happened, but I guess there were already rumors about it, because a few days earlier I withdrew half of my bankroll from there. The fact is that FTP was in breach of US law, which is why the FBI took action. If it's of any use in current situations, when you hear well-founded rumors about a site, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Physical casinos are profitable ventures, so they are not going to take them down easily. If there are violations, the government will fine them, and the board will replace the administrators or those involved.
Physical casinos can be shut down if they suffer a loss of profitability, or if the board decides to take them down; you cannot just take down a profitable business unless the violation is severe enough or the gambling community loses its trust in it, and it's not viable to continue.

Neither am I referring to a shutdown as a result of bankruptcy or hack.

I haven't personally experienced a scenario like that where a casino closed down due to their own incompetence or violations of the regulations set by the government governing them. Now, if this were to happen to an online casino, if the casino is decent and shutting down its business operations, they would likely notify their users first to withdraw their funds before closing down completely.

However, for a casino that doesn't care about its gamblers, it is certain that they won't reach out anymore to the community that frequently uses their platform here. And of course, the users are the unfortunate ones because they didn't get the chance to withdraw their funds.

I know of a case where a casino was temporarily closed due to tax audits. As far as I know, the subsequent full closure of the physical casino never took place, meaning the tax audits didn't uncover any illegal activity.

Share your experience from any and what happened that led to the shutdown, this will help us to learn and know how we could possibly prevent ourselves from any similar occurrences and remain unaffected in situations whereby it happened.
There's nothing you can do to prevent such situations. The only solution is to avoid visiting casinos during such unpleasant moments. But how can gamblers know when and in which casino violence will occur? They can't. They're left to rely on luck. The only consolation is that I don't think such incidents will be common.

How can gamblers be harmed if a casino closes due to illegal activity or a tax audit? They can't. In such cases, law enforcement will simply kick out all the gamblers and continue with their business.

This isn't something gamblers should worry about, especially since the likelihood of witnessing such an event is extremely low.

In our country there are lots of illegal gambling casino or operation was closed called POGO. The most of these are raided and we're investigated by Police and Operatives. Well casino is fairly common in our country but those that operated without license are freely earning much without paying any fees, taxes and don't secure any kind of permit from the Government.

I personally doesn't have experienced nor hear any casino shutting down. I would like to share an incident in our country, if I can remember in 2017 an attack on Resorts World Manila that results in 38 casualties and 70 injuries, and you'll be surprised that only 12 days after the incident the casino operates normally again. The suspect were an employee of the PH gaming corporation and if I am not mistaken he has a financial debt and tried to steal money in the casino but only found chips and later on, he took his live on the hotel there. Tragic story, but I think this is the closest I know that casino shuts down due to violence but only for 12 days.

Honestly, I didn't quite understand the question!
What kind of violence are you referring to? Is it a fight between gamblers or an armed robbery by an armed gang, for example? In this case, I don't expect that it will affect the players; it will affect the casino itself as a result of the material damage caused by the vandalism or theft.

The same applies to illegal activities; they would affect the casino itself, not the players.

It seems its better wide broad discussion too if you include with the online casino and not just limited to the physical casino. As of now seems I didnt experienced yet with  the casino have a violations or i guess we didnt know because it does not even goes outside of the facility, still casino are in a human operated and they have different behavior and personalities that might affect the operation. Even here in my country they will considered that as a big news but of course there's a lot of people enjoy and entertained with the casino because they didnt not even offer a gambling they also offer having a hotel and a restaurant inside so they got a lot of possible source of earning beside from the players. But once someone leak an information inside the casino against the law of a country for sure they will take an action.

Is this some kind of underground casino activity? They use the casino as a pretext to launder money from theft, corruption, and so on. I've heard of similar cases. They've actually been operating for quite some time, and the casino has been quite well-known for several years, but behind that success lies hidden activity.

There are situations like fight in a casino and this may be a brutal one leading to a shutdown even before the government intervention..

I never witnessed it myself, but I did see the aftermath a few times. It was a different time... We didn't have big casinos, just a bunch of small ones all over the town. Fights were not unusual, and some of them were pretty wild. Racketeering was there as well... All that was private, and if something happen it's all on the owner... if he doesn't have money to rebuild the place, it can just shut it down.

But now we have big casino chains, and things are different... We can say they are like big firms, with many employees, and all that is on a higher level than it was many years ago.

In my country, there are lots of physical casinos that were shut down because of illegal activities or non-compliance with the required regulations by the authorities.  Fontana Leisure Parks & Casino, one of the physical casinos in my country, was ordered to shut down because of its involvement in illegal or unauthorized online gambling operations, coupled with not following the standard fire and building codes.

It does not affect me much since I am more inclined to engage in online gambling.

OP, I understand your standpoint with respect to the subject matter, and I will say this: that casinos of such nature as you have mentioned are casinos that operate illegally in places where the government agencies could hardly locate; they run such casinos secretly so that they would not get any public attention and they are been maintained by cartels who run and play games together. Such casinos are characterised by human trafficking, drug smuggling, and criminals etc. Most times, there are escalations in their midst while playing games when they feel games were rigged to favour a particular group over the other, and such escalations result in bloodshed because they fight with arms and weapons around them. And this is how the government comes to be aware of such a casino, and they shut it down for good to further avoid such occurrences again.

It's not a casino, and it's not a personal experience since I wasn't there when it happened, but I heard of gambling dens getting shut down because, apart from doing an illegal gambling operation, it is also a place where drug addicts hang out, use, sell their drugs and even guns. If I remember correctly, a lot of the people who were there when it was raided got jailed and their money confiscated. So, if you want to prevent a situation like that, it'd be best to only gamble at casinos that are properly licensed.

I don’t experienced this personally but Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) in the Philippines was shutdown due to being use as hub for serious crime such as human trafficking, kidnapping, money laundering and many more which foreigners operates discreetly.
Yes. This one takes the cake for me, too. POGO has been raking in billions of pesos annually, and the government earned billions in tax revenues, yet they still banned them outright.  Cheesy
I guess that's what happens when the syndicate was even able to infiltrate the government by placing their own as an elected Mayor. LMAO
Well, good thing they aren't discreet enough that they were caught with whatever illegal activities they were doing in those massive offices.

If anybody is interested in knowing more about this, you can read a short history about it here: https://www.sunstar.com.ph/manila/pogo-a-brief-history-leading-to-ban-in-philippines

Our government can done better on that case instead of banning it completely now that they already caught the master mind and infiltrated the syndicate system.

We lose a lot of revenue from POGO while we have a lot of debt including the fucking corrupt politicians that draining the national budget.

This POGO is one of our main hope for profit generation if regulated properly yet the current weak administration makes it worst.

-snip-

I have not experience this but an illegal activity that might cause this could be money laundering case or if some customers were allowed to fight to death in the casino, apart from that, I don't think there are issues that are more serious than this ones.

-snip-

In my town there have been cases of casinos raided by the police because they were safe environments where people could buy and sell drugs. I don't know if the owners also did the money laundering, or they simply got a fee. Chances are that they were even unaware of what was happening in their buildings, although it would be a bit hard to believe. I think that we can add this cause to the list.

gambling is a deadly addictive kind of game. in many countries gambling is fully legal and in many countries it is fully illegal. especially in muslim countries it is completely illegal. in our philippines it is legal only if someone has a government license. without that no person can gamble. in our country according to the 2020 government census muslims were about 6.42 percent around 6.98 million people. now it has gone up to around 11 or 12 percent. and for muslims gambling is haram but how many people really follow that. in our country on june 2 2017 a man entered a casino and started shooting at people. many people died and after that the casino was shut down. everyone knows gambling is a dangerous addiction but those who get addicted cannot come out of it. casinos cannot be fully closed but the government should take some steps. gambling should be completely banned for people without a license and for those who are underage. and if they still gamble they should be brought under the law and punished.

I have never heard that in my country offline or online casino got shutdown for some reason. We had some casinos absorbed by other bigger casino, but that affected only with brand name change. Without looking in the internet, I can remember when I have heard that casino was ever shutdown. I can only recall cases when casinos scammed and disappeared. And even then it was not a run a huge amount, but casino stopped responded and withdrawing any amounts.

Often heard of such occurrences in a situation where a guy wasn't paid well enough and was told to come some other days and when he did the gaming shop owners was not found anymore they had to infiltrate into the property and moved all the devices in the shop.

That's why the illegal casinos are the bad places to go. You don't know when they're going to release your funds if something goes wrong.

But if it's with the legal ones, you still have the better odds of withdrawing your funds because they have a reputation to protect. And true when there are things happening in the physical casinos.

They'd mostly avoid publicizing what's happening on them to avoid fear from their customers, repeat and new.
Well, an illegal casino can immediately run away and can't file bankruptcy to compensate customers. Unlike physical and legal casinos, they can file bankruptcy and pay customers in a legal process, which is a remedy to the damage caused by hacking stolen funds.
That's why it's hard to gamble at an unlicensed casino because you don't have protection in case of what happens to the casino.
That's the advantage of the legal casinos, they can compensate their customers because they're registered and it's possible that they also have an insurance.

I think if someone goes to the illegal casinos, it's mostly just for fun and must be aware of the consequences.

Avoiding the issue of operating without a valid licence puts our risks at a higher level particularly in receiving our winnings. Legally obliged institutions have more incentive to fulfil their financial obligations and this facilitates continuity in business and prevents sanctions by the regulators. We rely on a low amount of transparency by legal organisations and unlawful organisations can do what they want with minimal or no fear of a legal penalty on our side.
The legal ones are more transparent and they're also scared of the regulations if they do something wrong and unlawful.
