Altcoins are too volatile (much more than BTC) and don't offer long term perspectives to investors. Most of them are drived by hype, so they don't last along the cycles performing in top positions. There are exceptions, like ETH, but still, you can't rely on them for long term profits. It's much better to go for the solid crypto currency, which is Bitcoin. Profit may be inferior, but it's much better than gambling with your money through altcoins.

I still do not see any other coin than ETH getting that second place anytime soon. BNB and SOL have a good battle over it, they want to be third place and be the biggest, Binance fights hard to be the one, but SOL is showing how TPS can be so easy and cheap, so there are so many projects under their respective chains and we are using them all.

However, still neither of them can be second place, because ETH is the king of altcoins. So if you are not going with bitcoin, then I would say ETH should be the choice, and if you want more, BNB and SOL should be three and four.

When it comes to altcoins, you shouldn’t expect much from them in future, altcoins are full of surprises, any coin can decide to disappoint you at any moment, that’s why we shouldn’t have so much confidence in altcoins. We might see a altcoin performing so well for years thinking everything is fine, and the coin will never fail us, but at the end you just going to hear some crazy news about the coin, and it’s going to crash.

If you are planning to invest, it’s better you just go for bitcoin, it’s the only coin which I know that you going to have peace of mind if you invest in the coin. If you are planning to hold bitcoin for long term, there is nothing to worry about, just make sure your bitcoin is properly protected, and you have nothing to worry about.

I will choose BNB but I can be very wrong because altcoins are so unpredictable. It was XRP, BCH and LTC on the top in few years ago but later coins like Solana and BNB took their spot, but XRP later take its spot back while the others are not still able to take their spot back and no sign that will happen. If there is a coin that will dominate ether, I will not be surprised because that is altcoins unpredictability.

I personally prefer to choose BNB too, where BNB is one of the altcoins that has a clear use case. And its ecosystem is also actively supported and even massive. BNB has also entered the institutional level or even the national level, where BNB is reported to have collaborated with the country of Kyrgyzstan some time ago (Source). And I think there's potential to increase the growth in value of the BNB price through this cooperation. So I personally see the potential of BNB in the future. However my prediction could be wrong due to various factors that may arise in the future. We cannot predict the future with certainty. Losses could occur if someone tries their luck with altcoins that have potential in the future. So it's best not to take too large a position. And It is best to use idle funds that can truly be risked.

It is impossible to predict the future . And may be crypto is one of the most uncertain operation in the globe. Crypto markets shift fast and new blockchains or technologies can suddenly emerge and disrupt today’s top players. Regulatory changes can heavily impact prices , what’s strong now may face legal or compliance headwinds..  thing following project will do well , just my opinion. Besides ETH, SOL following project shows potential. and hopefully they will do well

Strong for enterprise use and custom blockchain deployments.

Stablecoins will take the second place before anything else, sorry I have stop deceiving myself, it is Bitcoin or nothing, the only thing that's useful next is stable coins. At least we know that stablecoins are centralised and one or two is decentralised, truly..

Same can't be said about altcoins.

Bitcoin is definitely a must-have and should make up a large part of our portfolio, but there is nothing wrong or bad about allocating some of it to altcoins.

Sometimes seeing posts like this makes me smile without laughing out loud because I don't know why people prefer to hold altcoins than Bitcoin which is seen as a big risk than what we can ever imagine. There is no altcoins that is safe to hold because the team or dev can decide to sell his holding at anytime and forget about the project. Similar situation happens to Pepe when part of the team decided to to sell their own shares making the project to drastically fell almost going rug pull. This is a similar situation any altcoin cam face.

We enter the cryptocurrency market to invest and aim for profit, not to become blind followers of a cult and miss out on bigger opportunities. Furthermore, everyone has different investment appetite, so it's ridiculous to try to impose your own thinking on others or ridicule them when they don't share your views, and assume you're always right. In investing, the only thing that proves who is right and who is wrong is the outcome, not the type of asset you choose to invest in.

Bitcoin investors keep talking about the risks of altcoins, pointing to examples of rug pulls, scams, projects disappearing...bla...bla, and claiming that altcoins are not worth investing in. They deliberately ignore the fact that bitcoin is not the only investment that yields a profit. ETH, BNB, or SOL...these projects have also increased millions of times in value and made many people rich, so why don't you mention them? Instead of just using Pepe as an example and assuming all altcoins are the same.

Is there a need to make reference on any altcoin that would be leading in the future or whatever, if you want to invest in altcoin, you can just fucking invest in altcoin, and whatever you get while investing in altcoin you can keep doing that for the good and betterment of your yourself, but I will not emphasize on what altcoin that will be leading in the future because I don’t think there is any difference between the altcoin market, it doesn’t present any guarantee in the market, if I’m making by investment I will only like to focus more on Bitcoin investment which is more obtainable.

Choosing altcoins is indeed promising, but if you choose correctly, the wrong choice can be very painful. To focus on what you mean, it's better to find something that's certain than to be disappointed in the end.The future of crypto is always changing and continues to experience rapid growth every day, with all its unique characteristics, sometimes lasting for a long time, sometimes only visible for a couple of months.

In the future? It could be any altcoin. Because altcoins are rotating: some are losing ground, while others - no. Any existing altcoin could emerge as the leader (with some caveats, of course), or a new altcoin could emerge that offers the cryptomarket something conceptually new and essential for humanity.

Of the existing altcoins, I believe BNB could become the future leader, as it has real use, both within and outside of the exchange, community trust, and a real, functioning business that generates income. Binance is increasing its influence in this industry and its market capitalization, so I don't rule out the possibility that BNB will one day become the leading altcoin.

I lived through the days when BNB was worth a couple of bucks (and I regret underestimating it at the time ). Look at the current price and you'll see undeniable growth.

I'm guessing it will be ethereum for institutional product deployment and big TVL borrow or lend activity and then solana for high throughput dapps or defi application.

ethereum as central hub for liquidity and solanafor a more novel application so I expected these two to lead.

The competitor hasn't come close. Poladot doesn't even come close for the simple fact that it failed to captur neither TVL nor good Defi.

Even all the coins you mentioned above ain't really doing great at least since after their last ATHs which were maybe from their time of launching or from the hype that surrounded it at the given period. Example for ethereum, since it last ATH it has being struggling to get close not to imagine breaking it ATH. And likewise might be the performance of any other new altcoins that would be due to hype be having a rising price seeming as though it's the next leading altcoin.

These were the only altcoin that experienced new ATH in the crypto market lately, they have every capacity and community present to push it to the highest limit.

If we exclude the aforementioned altcoins, the ones that will lead the market (based on my opinion) would be Avalanche, Monero, and Litecoin. AVAX takes the first place because of its smart contract capabilities and unique approach to scaling. Its 3-tier network architecture is genius. Monero would follow because of its unmatched privacy and anonymity features. And last but not least is Litecoin which is "Silver to Bitcoin's Gold" with a limited supply of 84m units.

Such altcoins are hidden gems waiting to blossom someday. It's just that most investors are following the hype. "Meme" coins, and AI-based tokens is where the money is. It may take a little longer before cryptos with true usability get noticed by the public. I'd buy and hold AVAX, XMR, and LTC just in case. Who knows? You might get lucky someday...

OP mentioned excluding ETH and other coins. So, BNB is the only coin that is counted here but anyway, there are lots of altcoins in the crypto market, so are you sure that only these two have experienced a new All Time High? Ethereum is trending last time but I haven't heard the same for BNB. On the other hand, I think Solana have retain its positive streak. Hyper Liquid and Aster, is also the rising stars in the decentralized exchange section. There might still be others that pumps up, have recovered, and experienced a new All Time High that are not mentioned here.

If it is new and shady altcoins or tokens but traditional altcoins are always known to be much stable than on Bitcoin. So these altcoins works best too for the long-term, while Bitcoin is versatile and can work for both short and long-term due to its higher volatility rate. Even though it seems Bitcoin can handle it all but it is still a good idea to diversify sometimes using those proven altcoins, as sometimes their movements are independent from Bitcoin.

I don't know of any altcoins that will lead the way in the future except Bitcoin. No need to fool yourself, but investing in experimental altcoins is like gambling, but it is better and more rational to use Bitcoin if you don't want to lose your assets. 95% of altcoins have the potential to disappear due to poor management. I agree with you that there is no top altcoins that has potentials that is close to Bitcoin and in that case it is better to priotize Bitcoin over altcoins and hold it for a sure higher value in the future. But if I'm to make comparison among altcoins to suggest to somebody that is interested to hold altcoins my two top picks would be BNB and Ethereum. Amongst other top altcoins like Solana and the rest those two have more use cases as far as my observation goes. But we have to understand that they are centralized and any mismanagement can affect them negatively unlike Bitcoin that is decentralized without a management that controls it.

I don't encourage anyone to invest in altcoins but Bitcoin. I don't even force anyone to do that. I can only give you useful tips for you to do more research about what you want and decide to invest or not. Neither do I discourage people from investing. The same way one can blame you for pushing them into investing in the wrong asset is the same way they can blame you for preventing them from winning a life-changing amount. We just have to apply safety while dealing with anything related to finances.
