Does prayers really work in gambling?

lol, I believe prayer works, but I don’t believe it works in gambling cos God wouldn’t ask you to go gamble, although sometimes when I gamble, I do casually pray for the games to fall in my favor, and I just see it as a way of reassuring myself and wishing myself luck, but that doesn’t mean that the success of that game is dependent on that prayer. It doesn’t matter how prayerful you are, as far as gambling concerned, success depends on how lucky you are and not on any other factor.

Same thing as mine, I believe that it works but if it's in relation of gambling, let's just forget about it. That prayer could cost the person to become more greedy and that's why even if a gambler prays so hard to win their bets, it probably won't be heard and granted. That's the reason why there are prayers that are not heard because of the possible outcome of it by the person who's doing it. If it's going to give him pain and trouble, then it's best not to be heard of it and this is the same in gambling although we all want to win but it's still a different case to think of.

If your friend believes this, they'll pray, but I'm sure they won't be able to prove to you that prayer actually works. It's just their beliefs, and most likely it's their family culture. I often see this when parents are religious, or at least when a grandmother is religious, and it's passed on to their children and grandchildren. But I think if you're a believer, you shouldn't apply this to gambling, it's better to save prayer for more important things.

Since luck is a factor that contributes to one winning in slot games, if you are going to play slots, then the prayer is understandable, as he's begging his God to allow the day to favour him, which is still the same thing as asking for that day to be his lucky day; it's just prayers don't attach so much to it; he's just practising his belief, but we all know religion has nothing to do with gambling.

Actually, religion has much to do with gambling. For example, Islam is very explicit on its prohibition upon gambling among its followers, in the same manner Christianity and Judaism discourage people from pursuing  money with greed and getting in love with money and earthly wealth, both of them tightly related to gambling and betting.

In my opinion, it is rather a offense to God if someone ask him for money, when God himself advice to rich people to give up their wealth to the poor and follow him. If anything, he could be asking the evil one for the favor of luck and money, without him not even knowing about it.

I also believe it's important not to use prayers in the game, because there are various moments in life when prayer is necessary, such as for the health of our parents. You guys knows how to make things funny. I think before we go into prayer and gambling, we should discuss "prayer" first if it's working for you. Everyone has what they believe in, some people are not believers and they don't believe in the existence of God, spiritual or any super natural being, they only believe the things they see around, seeing this kind of post will only make things funny to them, prayer and gambling? no no, I don't think there any connection.

If you gamble or you have a bet that you are waiting to see, remove prayers from it. Maybe you can wish to be lucky the game favours you. Luck do comes to some games, you can't even remove luck and gambling because they work hand to hand. If prayer is helping gambling I have a friend that was angry and cursing Real Madrid yesterday for failing to win his game. He lost ₦300k because of their negligence against Celta yesterday and prayers didn't work my friend, not even luck came and save him.

I think religion and gambling just don’t mix. So praying before you play isn’t really acceptable. If someone is truly religious, they wouldn’t be gambling at all, because it’s considered a sin — same as drinking or smoking.

But I can admit that maybe your friend is just trying to psych himself up before the game, and the “prayer” for him isn’t really talking to God, it’s just a ritual he uses to feel more confident and play better.

This is quite subjective.. but to me, prayer has nothing in gambling. If you are a Christian, you'll even know that gambling isn't something you engage in according to the bible. On a second thought, let me analyse it from the view point that the prayer is capable of influencing the gambler's mindset and boosting his confidence. This is not because God answered his prayers, but because the gambler who has trust in God believes that since he has already prayed to God concerning the game, he is good to go because God has got his back. With confidence, he might take drastic decisions which might end up being beneficial to him. Different people with different beliefs, those who believes that prayers work for them prays before playing that's why you see your friend doing it, this applies to being lucky too.  Many gamblers has been gambling for a long time now yet they haven't won but you will see a newbie that joins gambling that same day and he/she wins millions that's how it is, no one should tell you that prayers are useless it does work for those that believe in it.

There are religion that prohibits gambling so if a person from such religion begins to pray while gambling I don't think it will work because it's like a taboo for him, prayers work for almost everything so long you believe in it. People who are on their sick beds offer prayers and they get healed from their predicaments. How many people you think pray before they gamble? And how many of them wins? There's your answer.

There are also people who have dreamed of a big win before they won. That happens because it statistically happens. There are so many people who who prays or dreams about something that can be interpreted as winning money, that occasionally some of them have to win. And they just ignore every time they didn't win.

Also, statistically it wouldn't even matter what divine entities you pray, because you would win at some point just like everyone else. If i was a believer, i would be offended how entitled some people are, to think that God prefers rooting their gambling more then people dying in hunger.

Where many religion itself strictly prohibits such actions you are asking "does prayer works in gambling?" Lmao...it's feels like saying Bismillah (in the name of the God) and then eating pork and alcohol which is haram (again strictly forbidden for consumption).

If you look at the bible and other religious books, it doesn't give God's approval to gambling. It regards gambling as getting rich quick and capable of leading into other aspects of temptation and sin that you can commit to get rich quick. For example in  1 Timothy 6:10: it says love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. This means being capable to do things to get rich. In the bible book of Matthew 6:24: it is saying you cannot serve both God and Money. There are more bible chapters and verses that condemned gambling, I know Jesus Christ chased some people gambling at the synagogue. So I think gambling doesn't have anything to do with prayer because God doesn't encourage it and may not be answering such prayer of gamblers but same God still say if you ask anything in my name I will do it. John 14:14 "If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it".

So people still operate with John 14:14 and are successful too in whatever they do even kidnappers, terrorist etc. What a complicated thing to discuss actually

If I'm not mistaking this is my first time of hearing a gambler talking about prayer in gambling. Well since luck have the besic role in determining the final outcome I don't think your prayer can make you to win, rather it might likely result to more losses at the end of the day.

Because gambling is purely a game of luck, so any gambler that is relying on prayer or skill are absolutely going out of the game, and there's a high possibility that such person would experience more losses at last because winning is unpredictable and there's no way you can get a win without luck on your side.

Prayers do not work in anything, it just a psychological thing. By that I mean there will not be some divine intervention to make you win, in majority of the religions in the world god is already against gambling which would mean you are not going to get help anyways, but even in that situation if you think a bit logically, prayer is not something that helps you, it's something you request, doesn't mean there will be a response to it, whatever happens happens.

Doesn't matter if you are atheist or believe in god, you can't make god change anything, god will change what god changes , that much is known. So you do not have power over what god will do, with a simple prayer, the prayer is just a simple wish that you have.

Luck factor does not only contribute to winning in slot games only but it contributes to all the winning in all gambling, begging his God to allow the day to favour him in gambling doesn't help him in any way because his God is not the creator of the games and those who owns the casinos would be praying for their God not to allow anyone to be lucky if prayers helps in winning and losing in gambling. It all boils down to the religion a person believes in, or should I say personal believe because for me personally, I believe there is nothing wrong with gambling even as a Christian, but there are some other Christians who believe that it's wrong to gamble as a Christian..

So if that person believes in himself that his religion doesn't reflect his view on gambling and believes that his God answers even gambling prayers, then I don't see any thing wrong in him choosing to pray before gambling, life is all about choices and what a man chooses mustn't be the same for all men, this is why are created to think, act and respond even to that same issue differently at times.

If you are a Christian, it's said that put God first in anything you are doing, even though you are doing good or bad. I mentioned bad because both good and bad was created by God but I don't mean that gamble is bad. Gambling can only become bad when the gambler start gambling irresponsibly.
I don't see anything wrong with praying before betting but honestly speaking, I don't pray before I gamble. But anyone who think it will help them win, they should continue
