Hi guys. Some time ago, I became involved in some media project. I think I need to attract some attention to it to make sure it succeeds (see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5567751.0).

I had an idea to launch a NFT forum game as an ad. The rules will be as following:
  • The NFT jpegs themselves will be worthless at the start. Even if my project succeeds, they may never have any secondary market.
  • You'll be rewarded one for participating in the game - placing a project signature, producing hype and vagueposting, writing theories, reviews and so on.
  • Most details on the project will be kept secret to stimulate hype and theories. However, I will share details with some local oldfags. This is to demonstrate I'm not bullshitting you and stimulate even more hype.

I will not be offering any equity in the thread - for legal reasons. It's even in common sense to not take money from random people. I, however, will definitely get to know some of you well enough to go further with you.

Unfortunately, to me, the forum seems to be a bit dead. I'm not going to play it with a skeleton crew. I'm also not going to run it if most of you will label it a scam for some inane reason.

Do we deserve such a cool art project (probably the first right use of NFTs in history), or is the forum is too dead? Should I even attempt it, or forget about it and move on?

P.S. If you have experience running:
  • CTFs
  • Mysteries
  • Forum games
  • ARGs
  • other interactive entertainment
and want to help, contact me (my email is in the profile).

A big nasty perv chased away talent to other locations for years.  You can launch a successful project, but it has to be easy to earn off of, and spam resistant.   NFTs are regarded as garbage here and you'll end up with bots playing with all the NFTs.

I've been working on a bitcoin game for some time now - based on one I actually enjoyed and had a strong lucrative community.  Did you ever play Starbourne?

Which one?

You can launch a successful project, but it has to be easy to earn off of, and spam resistant.   NFTs are regarded as garbage here and you'll end up with bots playing with all the NFTs.

Well, that's the whole point. These NFTs will be worthless. I can't guarantee they will ever have a secondary market, even if my project succeeds. However, for the role of in-game rewards, I think they are fine.

The value of the project will be not in these stupid NFTs that nobody actually cares about but in the community around it. But I kinda can't build the community if the forum is a bit dead.

I've been working on a bitcoin game for some time now - based on one I actually enjoyed and had a strong lucrative community.  Did you ever play Starbourne?

Oh, not yet. Just looked up gameplay screenshots and it looks like Eve Online but with less grind lol.

The game is dead.  They had a large development team who thought NFTs were the future (lol).  They migrated the game to a "Hearthstone" type that relied heavily on collectible bonuses, and the people that enjoyed the original game no longer enjoyed the new one.    My idea is a multi week community game which can make use of NFTs properly as bonuses instead of the end reward.  Then if the game gets popular, so do the NFTs, right?

Which came first, the entertainment or the collectible?  Smiley

(I used to run Martin Mining in EVE, back when it was a monthly subscription and still cool.)

The problem is that this forum game will never get popular if there are simply not enough people to play it, regardless if the rewards will be NFTs or not. And if the game won't be popular, the project won't get any attention too, and I will suck balls.

I was talking about my game, which must be Bitcointalk game. But the rule above applies to your game too I guess. Good luck with it either way.

Yeah. I am probably a bit late to the party.

I just don't know, what else can be a reward? For a game on a crypto forum it's most logical to use some sort of tokens even if worthless, and NFTs are the most logical choice. I'd probably had more success if I figured it out years ago, but unfortunately I have not consumed the KINO back then, and even so it'd take me a while to figure out this idea and the NFT hype would end by that point anyway.

Bitcoin. That's what Games and rounds is for.

I think that fits in this category:
Giveaways that require users to post in one or more specific threads / topics in exchange for altcoins are prohibited forum-wide.

Bitcoin. That's what Games and rounds is for.

I am not going to give any rewards in Bitcoin or known shitcoins for two reasons:
1. Too much risk for too little reward. I can't guarantee it will ever bring enough attention to the project. I will likely just waste money.
2. I want to identify people who are for the love of the game and not quick buck. I mean, I'd been doing this for months with no guarantees. I'd expect some level of risk tolerance from the players too, otherwise it'd be not a fun forum game but a shit paid advertisement that the forum is already full of.

That's not to mention that the game I want to start is not gambling.

Ahhh, so I can't even run a fun forum game with theories, hype and vagueposting despite fun because it is prohibited to have fun. Even if I won't guarantee anything and will reward people based on vibes and not some strict formula, it's apparently still against the rules. Okay there, cool.

Creating your own shitcoin isn't going to make this any better.

Sure you can! Speculation sounds like a good board if it's Bitcoin related. But you're not allowed to add made-up tokens as rewards. These rules were made years ago because "altcoin giveaways" got out of hand. Everyone wants to hype their own thing.

Well in this case it seems like the game is already dead on arrival. RIP.

I will suck balls.

If you're willing to go that far then I'm sure you'll be able to find some support or interested gamers.

NFTs are a bit of a thing of the past if you ask me.  The lack of liquidity makes them all destined for 0.  Using memecoins with permanent liquidity pools is probably a better solution to avoid the entire ecosystem becoming worthless overnight.
