From experience, I have come to understand that anyone too happy, talkative or too friendly has a very weak or dark side they are trying hard to cover up by over expressiveness instead of facing their fears square on. That is why we see people a lot of seemingly happy people get depressed every now and then when their happy cover can no longer be sustained. I am always careful with any person who have a flashy personality, most of them are broken inside and when you get close to them, you can be very surprised at what you discover. Some of those kind of people are living in denial of reality, their flash of happiness is just a coverage, they are not really happy beyond their facial expression.
This fact reflects a deep observation. To understand a person's mood behavior and happiness, only an outward smile is not enough, but it is also necessary to feel the hidden state behind it. Some people use silence, smile and cheerfulness as their support instead of expressing their worries. They become happy themselves by seeing others happy. Such people look very strong from the outside but in reality many worries and emotions are hidden in their hearts. Their cheerfulness should not be considered as their weakness because they are enduring many things inside and are fighting a lonely battle. The real beauty of life is that despite their own sorrow a person causes happiness for others from their own self. Such people are truly valuable because they make their environment bright and pleasant with their words. Therefore, it is better not to judge every person by their happiness and smile, but rather to value their feelings listen to them and understand their emotions.

I would say that the most depressed person in the family is the person that provides everything for each member of the family and that's a whole lot of work to do for one person, for some family it is the eldest, the father or even the last or middle child. Before now it used to be our fathers because they were the key provider of the family and then it moved to the eldest child but now in this era it is anyone that provides and sometimes even our mothers suffer from depression too because they too have become providers for their family, so basically anyone in the family can be depressed and not just the eldest son.

A single mom who plays the role of a father and mother also has reason to be very depressed cause raising a children requires both gender and it's not easy for single moms to do it alone. Women in the family that undergo painful menstruation also have more reasons to be depressed during those periods than the eldest son.
In the case of mothers getting depressed when they handle the house responsibilities alone when they are married and their husbands are alive is understandable but to the ladies who get depressed over what they are passing through during their monthly visitors is unacceptable cause there are better ways to prevent such things from happening and being depressed will only add to their problems cause the solution is possible but aside this nobody should become depressed if they have solutions to their problems especially if it's has to do with the burdens of the family. That you are a first child or the only child doesn't stop you from saying no when the loads are much, don't kill yourself to please everyone in the family.

The pressure is real but it's no longer based on being the firstborn, it's on those who have money and they don't care if one is engaging into illegal activities for the money, all they care is that they should just provide for them. And this is what makes other members of the family to feel bad due to the treatment they receive unlike how they will treat the person who is paying. So, anyone can feel depressed if they are not being treated the way they way to.

To me depression doesn't pick the eldest son or eldest daughter because they are meant to carry the family as first child. Depression can happen to whoever that's carrying the most weight with the least support. And also a person can be depressed in a family by being marked as weak even when he or she works harder to be seen.

Depression do not pick only first son in a family. It can happen to anyone in a family who walks with their worries or problems silently.

In the beginning, he was the only one who took care of the family, educating his younger brother and sisters in higher education. And he provided money. At the last moment, that person felt depressed, depressed only when that person could not earn any money. Gradually, he became the enemy of many people,
so in this situation, the younger sons of the family always carried happiness. However, in this case, the father and the eldest son of the family are the only ones who are victims of this depression, while when the younger sons start earning, this income is distributed among everyone, and the younger sons then become loved. And the eldest son of the family is the victim of depression.

The most depressed person in the family is mostly the first son and not the father l, this is because it saddles him with the responsibility of taking care or looking after the younger ones maybe in the absence of the parents.

It is not easy being the first son of the family because automatically those minor responsibilities start setting in and you have no choice that to stand for them irrespective of the situation or circumstances you find your either positive or negative, this is not your say the father doe no take of the family but being a first child comes with honour and in every home it is mostly the first child that carries the responsibility o the family especially in the absence of the father who is originally the head of the household.

This situation tends to hinder his growth or his own personal accomplishment buh he decides to honor the responsibility of being there for the family which is why they always depressed basically both the mother and the siblings look up to the first child especially when he is a man.

The person who is the busiest of all gets disappointed, when he has no one to talk around so he has no other option but to keep everything and that develops depression in majority of such people. He listens to everyone but no one listens to him, this all end up in frustration.

It is not compulsory that anyone who’s bearing the burden or responsibility of the family must be depressed. The reason it gets depressing in some cases is when the bread winner doesn’t always have the opportunity to win bread, or the bread they’re only able to win are the crumbs, and then the burden becomes too much to bear, then sole can become depressed. But in a situation where the bread winner is actually winning enough bread or even owns a bakery, then i don’t it’ll be depressing at all.

It certainly happens though not in every family that the eldest son prominence diminishes over time.Typically we see the elder brother shoulder the family responsibilities after the father a duty he fulfills but as the other siblings become capable of earning the financial burden is shared among them all. This shift occurs because everyone eventually becomes able to manage their own responsibilities. However we must not overlook the elder brother importance during this process as it is largely thanks to him that we are capable of earning a living today. If for some reason he becomes unable to earn we should not leave him to despair instead we should encourage him to overcome that depression and ensure he does not suffer from undue distress.

On a low key level, the mother is probably the most depressed person in the family because she carries the silent and absolute brunt of pain, even if she tries to hide it behind a cute smile. A father has the luxury of leaving the house to clear his head and the kids might go to school but the root of the house, which is the mother, always stays back to manage all the chaos and drama that spill out from the family. The mother manages everyone else's difficulties and if any child of her's or even her husband, has any issue that she feels powerless to fix, that creates a hole of negative emotions in her heart.

I don't think depression settles for anyone or any group in particular In a family, it all depends series of events leading to that person's current state, but still I feel like the middle child or second child in a family are the ones prone to depression. I was having this conversation with someone and they agreed, the middle child tend to have the least attention and love from their parents and that can lead to depression.

Could it be the eldest son?

Ideally, the responsibility of the home lies primarily on the head of the father. the first son only bears the load when the father has failed to step up and wether the responsibility will weigh him down to the point of him being depressed is dependent on wether or not he himself is a responsible person that is willing to take the load of the family as his own load.

No one needs to carry too much load and get depressed in the process if every other person stands to be accountable for his life. in some families, all the adult children might be careless with their lives and the last born carries the burden of raising the home from shambles. some other times, anyone can seems to be getting things wrong while the rest are getting things right and he becomes depressed in the process. depression is not always a caused by a single thing. sometimes life can be just unfair for some people and that is capable of leading to depression.

You see sometimes in a family, the person that everyone literally depends on kinda becomes invisible because their strength and what they’ve got to offer automatically becomes treated like some kind of a permanent resource. When you become the one everyone looks up to when they need someone to solve their problems, usually makes them forget that you also have your own problems and needs support too, even Clark Kent has his own issues. Just a little how are you coping can really go a long way for them, and we shouldn’t wait until they break down first before we ask them.

Mostly depends on the situation surrounding the family. And who’s more likely to be depressed. Mainly it’s draws down on the person taking majority of the responsibilities. In most cases I think the (responsible) father who’s the head of the family falls in this category. Especially when he doesn’t meet up with the demands and then feels like he’s a failure, men hardly speak out because they don’t want people to feel they aren’t man enough to raise a family. That’s in my own opinion. Here in the comments there are many other opinions

From my experience with people, those with a flashy personality are the ones with the weakest emotional configuration and they do their best to avoid reality a lot. Somehow I'm tempted to say that the more reserved ones are those who really identify with reality of things, but it's not always correct as some of them are struggling to come out of their shells and be more expressive, but finding it difficult gets them even depressed themselves, so this depression of a thing holds everyone in their own ways. Sometimes, I don't want to get close to someone because psychologically, I can spot your weakness easily and filling in for it becomes a task for me which I may not have the time for.

Bro if you get closer to a lot of people, you'll see for yourself that a lot of people are just struggling to cope with depression in one way or the other, with the most obtainable being the want for survival and a comfortable lifestyle. Let's bring it down to the family, siblings should be able to identify the ones among them who are easily susceptible to depression and give those ones some listening ears to relief their chest of the burden of ill feelings and offer some great deal of support.

Make it a point of duty to call all siblings once in a while and just ask thought provoking questions that would make them talk for a long time, it brings a great deal of relief and support to the person. And don't forget that the person providing support always can also be depressed sometimes and needs support. We cannot just do this life alone, we need as much genuine support as we all can to pull through.

Someone I know will always say women who claim to be having mood swing and are depressed as a result of their monthly visitors are the ones with bad character and are only using that as an excuse to cover their bad behavior.
Yes women easily get depressed depending on the situation they’re surrounded with or they find themselves in. That’s because they’re weaker vessels. In most cases it’s easily noticeable. Can’t say same for men. A man can be going through a lot and still comes out and acts like everything is okay, meanwhile deep down they’re dying slowly. That’s because they’re built that way. However we must always check on others. Even tho everyone handles depression differently, it’s out call duty to always check on others and ensure they’re okay
