SpaceX IPO

It is the second day of trading and I’ve already started buying more. I just wish the price would go down. I was hoping we’d see profit taking today. With the Nasdaq and Russell indexes buying soon I fear there won’t be any better opening for some time. I’d like to be patient, but I also want to own a lot more shares.

Looks like the indexes will begin buying on Friday after the end of trading.  I suspect that will be quite a boost to the share price.  It likely won't hold once the unlocks start happening a month from now, but between now and when the NASDAQ buys in roughly 17 days it will be tough for the price to do anything but rise.  Particularly this Friday after trading and July 3rd after trading...  I think traders all have the same idea right now.  Buy as much as you can and then sell dump on the NASDAQ on July 6th.

As long as the unlocking is there on the horizon, I do not think that it is smart to be buying right now. Too many people and too much money already went into buying, and yet that's just a tiny portion of the company, I read somewhere that the stocks we are seeing are like just 4-5% of the entire company, majority is still owned by Elon and other investors that do not have their stocks on the market yet. So if we get just another 5% more then suddenly things will not be looking as good.

Even though it's early, it appears the retail investor is losing and that trend may continue.  What's also worrisome are the rule changes that fast track the engagement of institutional investors and passive funds.  If this stock winds up being a dog, the ripple effect on retirement accounts, ex. 401k may be astounding as well as far reaching.  While the staggered or tiered lock up was meant to prevent IPO day 1 dumping, the Aug 2026 earnings report could result in selling pressure if these numbers are more in the toilet than expected.

Their biggest client is the US government, but what if Trump and Musk start a feud again? I know that SpaceX has a technological advantage over all the competitors in the space industry, but I also know that sooner or later, every industry leader gets dethroned. Why Musk has decided to make SpaceX public next year? Many speculative investors might be interested in this IPO, but I'm not one of them. Musk forgot about his promise in regards to Bitcoin, so I don't trust him anymore.

Yes. $13 billion (up 50% yoy). The biggest revenue generator is Starlink, not government services. I don’t suffer from TDS. SpaceX has always planned to go public when they became profitable. Bitcoin is up nearly 500% since Musk bought on behalf of SpaceX and Tesla.

The big revenue drivers like the Golden Dome and Moon/Mars settlements haven’t even started yet. This is the most no-brainer investment of all time.

If SpaceX doesn’t triple from it’s IPO price within 4 years (outpacing Bitcoin by nearly double in that time period), I will delete this post.

Saying SpaceX is profitable is misleading.  In 2025, there was a reported $4.9 billion loss.  Currently, 1st  quarter of 2026, SpaceX posted a net loss of $4.28 billion.

I bought more shares this morning and have buy orders in for lots more if the price keeps falling.

Half correct.  The 2026 loss was impacted by SpaceX purchasing xAI, which it officially acquired 2 Feb 2026.  However, this doesn't bear impact on 2025's loss.  You may want to set a stash aside to purchase more shares @ additional discount after 2nd Q results are announced in Aug.

If anyone has any money left over from the AI boom, this is the best place to lose it!   This 2026 IPO is being priced on future vision (orbital data centers, Mars, AI) rather than current fundamentals.

This $1.7 Trillion IPO is the equivalent of buying Bitcoin on Oct 4, 2025.   It will be fun to see who falls for it.  

I am going to become an investment advisor.  Don't rely on cults of personality when physics proves it cannot be done.

I set aside a stash to buy into the IPO that I still am buying in with since the IPO was oversubscribed.  I will likely make another buy tomorrow or Friday morning to beat the next wave of indexes and I'm making money selling covered calls on the shares I did get in the IPO that I am reinvesting in more shares.  I'm not worried about the price tomorrow, or next year...  I'm going to be buying SpaceX shares regularly for a decade.  I'll sell when people bubble it up in anticipation of landing a man on Mars.  I am fully expecting the price to dip as much as 40% from the IPO price in the next year.  It will most likely look pretty bad until the S&P buys in next July.  I'm not worried.  In 2040 there won't be a person on the planet who doesn't wish they took every dollar they had and put it all into SPCX right now.

Some people (like Elon) are rich enough to be ignorant.  But if the average person wants to invest with their own money that they worked for and was not given to them, they should probably do a bit of research.

Elon is a con man; he'll sell you a heater in space, saying it's cold.  He relies on two things:  1) The overwhelming ignorance of the general public to space reality  and 2) The greed the that helps the cult numbers grow.

Elon lost my trust when he failed to deliver on all his promises of one hour travel anywhere on the globe and free internet for all.  If he has started this twenty years earlier, he would have the time he needs to design a proper vehicle.  But with his Starlink satellites already forcing others into emergency maneuvers and the growing Kessler effect, his incompetence in low earth orbit will doom humanity from ever escaping our AI overlords.

In 2040 there won't be a person on the planet...

14 years from now?   I can see that - maybe a few government bunkers but nothing material left of humanity.

Lockheed Martin just got 35 billion from the government to increase production for the golden dome with SpaceX. Makes you wonder how many hundreds of billions the government will be giving to SpaceX. I imagine it will be a hell of a contract that won’t ever get cheaper to maintain…

I’ll assume that question is rhetorical. Obviously the United States is going to have the space laser missile defense system. It might be needed if we are going to keep going around the globe dropping bombs on countries and abducting other Presidents.
