It is obviously important to develop 'skills' or rather knowledge if you are doing Gambling such as sports betting.  It would be stupid to bet with out knowing any thing about the teams before hand.  But more knowledge is not necessarily going to make you win more than the average Gamblers.  There will be situations where others will analyze the circumstances better than you and they will win even if your analysis initially made more sense.

But if the Gambling is non knowledge related then it is all only about your luck.  What you did was you acted on the euphoria of the moment after winning the bet.  If you let your self be controlled by your emotions then this happens.  If you won a second time you would have probably thought this will be your big lucky day and tried a third time, and a fourth, until you realize you should have not risked so many times.

Not all gamblers are addicted, and not all gamblers gambles for money instead they gamble for fun, those gamblers that turns out to be more addicted always chases their losses and wins, if you had not chase your win after that win you would have been happy with yourself, not getting out of gambling is your personal decision which I know if you want to stop you can, gambling don't make you addicted but you made yourself addicted to gambling, and remember gambling is meant for entertainment and not for making money.

Those that gamble for fun use gambling as means of recreation after a long stressful/period to keep them fit always, gambling has a lot of benefits if gambled for fun.

I created this topic Gambling for fun, a slippery road to gambling addiction when I noticed that gambling for fun might turn out dangerous if care is not taken. I'm glad you are also making similar observation in the part I highlighted. I have always not supported the idea of gambling for fun because I see gambling as a serious business that the focus should be money and not some fun since I have video games to give me the fun I need. I can't possibly be catching fun when I'm losing money that I worked so hard to earn. You become addicted because you won $50 and lost the games after. I am gambling for for and I have won more than $50 and I have also lost more than that but to me it is still fun all the way.

Gambling can develop skills. This may be true but it depends on the type of gambling we play. If we play games based on luck it won't improve anything including skills because everything will be the same. How many strategies we use through gambling, we cannot be sure of the outcome in advance, we have to depend on luck to win, if luck is not good, we cannot win by gambling.  We have said one thing again and again that we have to take time after winning by gambling, if we keep betting again and again, we will not have control over ourselves, which increases the risk of losing money many times over.  Therefore, it is good to take time after winning or losing, as a result, the risk of losing extra money decreases, discipline is very important in gambling to maintain self-control over oneself.

Yeah, I experience that too. I thought that this casino was generous, as it gave me a win for my first bet, and I tried another one and hit again. Unfortunately, things have changed. After increasing my bet, I lost all my winning money and even my capital... lol

Addiction is a gradual phenomenon that develops in someone mind overtime, you don’t get to tell or know when it’s getting into you because it is deceived for something else. Gambling addiction is very real and something very serious that has become a menace to tackle in the society.
