I have notice this and i thought i would share here... It's about the registration process.. some casinos now let you sign up using only your email, no password, no long forms. They just send a login link and you’re in. Honestly it feels really convenient and if I had to choose, I’d probably stick to casinos that use this method since I don’t need to remember another set of passwords.

But not all casinos are adopting this setup. Some still force the usual password plus full registration details. So it made me wonder why can’t they just switch to the simpler email login if it’s clearly more user friendly? Is it a security issue, legal requirement, or maybe they just don’t trust the system?

I prefer email and password instead.

Some gambling sites are web2, they will require the usual email and password.

Those gambling sites that you are referring to are web3 gambling sites. On web3 gambling sites, you can be able to sign up and sign in with just your email. That is not what that makes them web3 though, you should be able to connect your wallet with the gambling site. That makes them web3, but those are the sites that are having the email only login without password feature.

I dont like such method of signup. Main reason it requires extra steps to be made to login. Instead of filling only login/password form, I have to open another tab, enter email (fill login/password), and click on link to login. What if someone else has access to my email? I think such method of signup is less secured. I would better remember password than lose time going here and there. If I want to gamble, why would I go to my email first? That is strange logic.

Every casino is just using what's best for them and what they consider more effective and customer-friendly over the other. Even in casinos where you use both email and password to log in, some of them still have a 'Sign in with Gmail' option where you just have to authorize and authenticate the login from your email linked to the casino account; there's no need to input a password.

Guess it's related to KYC. Even if the user gets to register with emails, the casino is gonna need more than that if they want to ensure those withdraws or deposits are legit.

But some do have the Google SSO so I guess that's more or less the same.

Because casino account should have a separate access to your email. If your email was hacked or lost means your casino account was lost too.

Having a password is not that inconvenient during the registration process. What inconvenience is the need to check your email whenever you will need to sign in due to the login link sent on your mail instead of just simple logging using password and email without the need to open other apps.

The main purpose of adding password in casino login account to ensure you have more layer of security. So when your email gets hacked. It doesn't mean your casino account will be compromised too. I know it can be reset, but it's unlikely to happen when you're also adding 2FA as well.

That’s not how it works. If your email gets hacked, it’s still easy for someone to access the casino account just by resetting the password, since whoever controls the email controls everything. So your casino password doesn’t really get an extra layer of protection from that.

2FA is the real added security here. As long as you have 2FA enabled, it’s fine to use your email when signing up for a casino. The important part is that extra step that only you can verify.

Definitely as time progresses we will be seeing different developments and new platforms will definitely come up with More convenience for their customers, registration is somewhat based on the level of their security, if there be no need for password and only email will do, fine, but what we must also point out is the vulnerability in that, because anyone that have access to your emails can control your casino account which won't be possible if there is a password in place.

Registration without password is not advisable because you need to login in another device if need arise. You might like to use laptop when you are at home and will also like to use mobile phone when your away. And another thing again, password is for a security purposes. If someone knows your email, can use it to access the Casino but if there is a password, it would be difficult for the person to access the account. I think that level of privacy might cause another problem. Email and password is the way out.

Having a casino require you to sign up with email+password is probably a casino's way of giving its users a sense of security, even though it's a piss poor one.  Like putting a Band-Aid on a bullet wound.
Just like Natalim has already mentioned, if someone has access to your email, they can easily request a reset of your password, make a new one, and gain access to your casino account.
Personally, I like it better if a casino has tight security, which includes allowing 2FA and/or security questions. Sure, it's a bit of a hassle going through all that during sign-up, but it's for your own account's security. Better to be safe than sorry.

The reason might be any or all you have mentioned. With this access type, anyone who gets access to your email can use your casino account. This might be convenient for you, but you might regret it when your email is compromised. Having an extra layer of security should be prioritised over convenience. Depending on the gambling license, the government mandates casino companies to request more personal information from gamblers. Those few seconds that are used to input passwords are not a waste because safety should be the priority.

All of that is easy and simple, but logging in with just an email carries the risk of losing access to your account if someone else's email manages to access your email, because all verification, password resets, and access to other accounts can be taken over immediately without needing a password. Honestly, security using a password is still better than an email-based login system alone, at least you can set up your account security with a strong password, and it can be even more difficult for others to access, especially if it is combined with security features such as two-factor authentication, it can be even more secure.

If compliance isn't particularly stringent regarding account security standards, casinos might implement simple registration. Conversely, casinos don't want hacking issues to become a legal hassle. I have had this type of casino registration experience twice I think, they made it as if the registration is the login because after the email you are in on the casinos and some of them with such registration method usually are not kyc casino because of there security flexibility. All the casinos have a way they feel is important for them because some usually get all information that could have been provided during kyc in just registration. I would have also like the email alone because of the simplicity but the issue with mail is that there use to be a lot of phishing links and if the person is the type that open every links they saw they can get penetrated.

I prefer to have a password, to have two-factor recognition, in any case your money is in it, whether it's a little or a lot, security is never too much remember that.
Also the most important thing, serious casinos that care about their users' data, never simplify the ways to log in, at most they strengthen them.

Not sure why online casinos don't treat Email as a registration feature.
Maybe we know, Email as we know is often the target of fraud and hacking, casinos certainly want users and including their gambling sites safer from various attacks, perhaps for security reasons many casinos hesitate to use Email only as a registration feature, needing several other additions such as passwords, authenticators and so on.

For me, email does not provide a strong guarantee in the security of registration for online gambling sites, additional things such as KYC and so on are needed for security.

There is an easier method than this and that is you use Web3 Decentralized Casinos to gamble. In that case, you don't have to use your email or get a code from your email and enter it. You can just connect your wallet and gamble. Isn't this process easier?
If I go for the system you are talking about, why shouldn't I go for the decentralized casino's? I will be able to sign up there in a more simple way, which will be much more convenient than the centralized casinos, which are secure and have better money transactions. So I would say that if you want to play games in web2 casinos and want to keep yourself secure, it would be best to use extra password methods.

I like the new method of just email sign up and sign in but why I prefer the other method of using password is because it adds more security to your account. If someone have access to your email, they can easily access your account but on the other hand, with account using email and password, it won't be much easy because when the person wants to reset your password via email, you will get notifications. Most casino I know, have that feature but I prefer to create the account manually using their password option.
