Beware of This Scammer Selling USDTb/BNB

What happened:: This scammer posted an offer to sell 5000 USDTb/BNB ​​at 1 USD each – Sale Total 4000 USDT, and listed the payment method as USD (USDT–BNB).

Well, after checking the smart contract of the USDTb token, it turned out to be a SCAM coin and not a real stablecoin. [Apespace.io] + [TokenSniffer]

▶ it shows the token price as $1,094, and this fake high price may deceive many people.

▶ But looking at the 24h Volume, it is only $0.10, and the Liquidity is just $3.97.

▶ There are also only 6 holders of this token.

▶ Additionally, this token has not verified its contract.

Thanks for the alert. I had no idea that scammers could reach to an extent of selling their shitcoins in this forum in that manner. Could easily trick newbies who have no clue or who are so greedy. I am also glad that the moderators no longer tolerate this kind of bullshit and can now delete such threads.

Scammers use many different tricks to fool crypto users, and this attempt is one of those tricks. He has come up with a token to sell and take money from here, where this token has no trading volume. Hopefully crypto users will be more careful and avoid falling prey to scams by falling for such tempting offers.

I doubt he can sell a penny here in bitcointalk forum because active members are quite smart to catch him as quickly as possible and warn new comers. However I am pretty sure that his scam offer can succeed in other social media platforms where newbies are coming in everyday basis.

The problem is that this method is live because of crypto bridges that facilitate cryptocurrency exchanges within the same network. The scammer can create a fake trading volume with just few bids that he makes himself. there are no ways to forbid anybody to add a new fake token to the bridge smart-contract and place orders.

Wow, that is a new one for me, I guess with the holidays coming around, it would be no surprise that scammers will be putting in more effort into their scams which is really scary especially this one if you do not have the knowledge about cryptocurrency and you trade on different exchanges that are not that established, you will most likely get scammed in this manner. This one is especially attractive because it uses BNB chain and with the BNB growing in popularity, I guess you can say that it will have some backing that would make it seem legitimate, hopefully no one has fallen for this scam yet, I want these scammers to die of hunger this holiday season or realize that they should find a new job.

I never heard of a stablecoin with a small "b" at the end. If anyone here is buying or swapping coins on a decentralized exchange, beware of some coins because there are also fake tokens on Web3 or decentralized exchanges like Pancake.
Even if it shows USDT, take note of the contract address and network because there are lots of fake tokens out there with different contract addresses or networks. Always double check these two before you swap.

The real USDtb isn’t available on BNB Chain and is unrelated to Tether, so that was one red flag. Another red flag is that it doesn’t make sense to swap one stablecoin to another through a forum and with a 20% discount. If it’s a legitimate token, there should be liquidity pools on decentralized exchanges where you can trade it at a nearly 1:1 ratio with other stablecoins. Technically, there is some DEX liquidity, but it’s only around $4, which is why it was way off peg.
