What I’ve Noticed and Why It Matters (Unmerited Topics)

I really like the Economics board because of its engagement and the way it continues to enlighten people about social and economic life. As a newbie, I try to follow the footsteps of senior members by posting with quality and consistency.

The board is actually fun to be in, and I’ve learnt a lot from it. But I’ve also noticed that there isn’t really a thread that talks about reporting good-quality topics that didn’t get any merit, even though some deserve it. So I decided to say something about it.

There are plenty of good topics I’ve seen, some even have more than ten pages but still no merit. My point is how about we do something like “reporting good quality unmerited topics,” so others can see them and decide if they’re worth meriting instead of being ignored?

Feel free to report yours too, but make sure it’s actually good quality and worth it.

Let’s keep the conversation going and see how we can improve the merit system on this board. I believe reporting Good Quality, Unmerited Topics/threads could help bring attention to valuable contributions that deserve merit. It’s a way for us to collectively ensure that quality posts don’t slip through without gaining merits. What do you think?

I thought you reported a thread that was written by others, not knowing it is yours. You are indirectly begging for merits if I am not mistaken.

Anyway, there is a thread by Filippone to report your best post/thread for merits, you can try that out, not creating a separate thread for merits requesting.

It is not limited to topics, but you can use it to report your posts. It does not necessary have to be your own posts, it can be other people's posts also.

Sorry to say you are heavily mistaken, the way you see it isn't the way I'm seeing it. Me creating this thread is to help improve the merit system and I also made a statement saying anyone that has a good thread that has been ignored should post and if people like it then they can merit. I wasn't being selfish by talking only about my self.

The merit system isn't different from the corporate world in economics field. It's not about quality, but about your network inside the environment where you are inserted. In order to succeed, you have to approach and adulate the right people, that is, the people who will eventually provide you with merit points.

Actually, right now the merit system isn't even a very highlighted thing like it used to be in previous years of this forum. The behavior of people was much worse before in order to justify themselves to be members who deserved merits (the judgements, the mafias, the accusations, the humiliation...) and comparing to nowadays, the environment seems more civilized and harmonious than it used to be.

Of course, your interest on this matter is understandable, as a newbie needs merits to evolve his account to further steps. The point is, does it worth to do what it's necessary to reach there? Personally, I think you just have to be yourself: to post what you like, your personal opinions, experiences, without having to fit an external role just to look cool on someone else's eyes. Even if it doesn't look promising, life will take you somewhere when you least expect.

I was not expecting you to drop a link to your own post because I got the impression that you started this thread to advocate for others. Looking at your post history, you have already applied to two different merit threads so far I suggest you start spending more time participating in bitcoin discussions and less time in politics & society. You will be surprised how much your post quality will improve when you close the knowledge gap.

Also it is possible to apply good posts, topics in [self-moderated] Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source topic. Not only LoyceV but also other merit sources will take a look at your posts, topics but if your posts, topics applied in that topic are low or zero quality, your account might be ignored.

If you make good posts consistently, you don't need to apply for merit, as other forum members will see your posts and merit them, just matter of time.

The Economics board is known to be full of spammers and account farmers, many of them using AI to write their posts. There are a few good topics here and there, but in general, it’s one of the areas with the highest amount of low quality posts.

There is nothing special about the posts you singled out that makes them deserving of merit. Merit isn’t something given out so casually just because you find a post interesting. It has to really stand out. You can spend your own merits on whatever generic or low quality post you like, but you can’t expect others to do the same.

Your account is new but you're not a newbie. First, all you do is suck up for merit. Your posts are bad and you're not communicating any actual information to anybody. Second, pretty much everybody who starts threads like this is eventually exposed as an account farmer. Here's a few examples for you.

As a newbie I was told to do my own research in other to know more about this forum and I should take the process of learning bit by bit and that I should search for rules and regulations about this forum and read it very well and that is what I have done for some days now.
I would love to share this to my fellow newbies which I believe will answer all there questions.

As a matter of fact, I just assume that anybody who vigorously claims to be a newbie is lying as a rule of thumb, especially if all they do is post about how to get merits and suck up to merit sources.

You also use AI to write your posts for you because you don't actually have anything to say. Really the forum could do with fewer such accounts as we are already flooded by people like you: humans pretending their hardest to be robots.

Don't expect to get many merits regardless of whether your posts are recognized or not.

OP, you need to understand that if your threads are getting ten pages of engagement, that's not an indication that your thread is interesting, but simply that it's very easy to respond to even without any basic knowledge, which often falls under rule number 1. This will attract people who are fulfilling their company signature quota, repeating the same thing over and over again, only slightly rephrasing it. Your first successes were achieved in your local section, and I think you'll find like-minded people there.

With the best of my knowledge, there are merit sources that do give on the economy board, there was a time The Sceptical Chymist concentrated on it, Current pooya87 also gives merit across boards including economics if a quality post is found, same with other members I may not have mentioned it noticed.

There's a thread at the beginners and help section created by fillipone to report any good unmerited posts, you can also find more related at the reputation board and apply if you meet their criteria for merit.
