Choosing the Right Exchange for p2p in Nigeria

Using other exchanges like Bybit and MexC for p2p now seems like an hectic task that could come with lots of annoyance frustrating one to get disappointed in them, because you will face challenges from either the users or the exchange itself, I see that most of us today now uses Bybit and few others uses MexC, but am here to advise and give reason why Gate.io is now the best to use for Nigerian crypto p2p.

Challenges with Bybit Exchange

If you're using Bybit today, then you're most likely to be disappointed by their p2p because scammers have now flooded it and are making it unlike the way it used to be, you will be having buyers always negotiating price with you on chat, which is different from the normal expected amount they should pay you.

They behave in the following manner on Bybit.

• They negotiate for a reduced rate.
• Pleading for poor market sales.
• Sent you fake payment evidence if you fail to reduce the rate they are paying.
• Forcing you to cancel the P2P order, which, if you do it three times a day, you can't perform again until after 24 hours.
• Delays you before making the payment, or takes much longer to later cancel the p2p trade.

Challenges with MexC Exchange

This one is not as much as the one you could face on Bybit, all you may have here is the regulations challenge with the exchange, because they can choose to freeze your account at any time for any reason, claiming some sources to your fund are questionable and you may be subjected to go through additional KYC verification, which you may not like.

Which exchange should be recommended for Nigerian p2p for now?

I strongly recommend the use of Gate.io

Here are the reasons that I can give in support of using  Gate.io based on my experience with the exchange, but anyway, you also have to DYOR and know that you're dealing with centralized exchange.

• Fast p2p
• They don't require your number mostly
• Gate.io users don't negotiate prices outside the normal rate
• They don't send fake payment evidence or delay in making their payments.
• If you want the best rates, regardless of quantity, gate.io is more preferable
• Scammers are not there to abuse the due process or interrupt the p2p normal procedures.

I see that you are strongly recommending Gate.io to readers here , you should have also advised readers in your OP that they should do their own research first unless you want them to hold you responsible for any scams that they might face in the cause of using your recommended exchange. Why I'm emphasizing this is because as far as I know it is not the exchange itself that you are doing p2p transactions with, it is with their registered marchants who are third parties. A scamming marchants or vendors from Bybit that you are talking about can register in Gate.io to continue scamming people. What we should look out for is the TOS of any exchange that we intend to use and conclude every p2p transactions on the exchange.

I'm using BITGET and so far I have never had any issues, I'm speaking for myself, DYOR if you have not used BITGET and would like to give it a trial. This is not shilling BITGET and not a financial advice, like I said earlier DYOR before making any moves

You sounded with so much confidence and more of being too sure about this Gate.io exchange stuff but it would have make more sense and for clarity sake if their was any pictures backing it up for more clarification. However I don't think their are any of this exchange that are scam free,  although I haven't check this one that you are talking about but I think I will just give it a trial to see more of what you're talking about.

Over the years bybit has been my regular exchange that I have been transacting with even though many folks has been complaining of being scammed and stuff like that but in all is just for us to be careful and be able to sense a fraudulent act when spotted.

Thank you for the observation, this has been corrected as suggested, not everyone understands they are taking this risk on their self in using any centralized exchange, because they are custodial storage and could come with any form of surprise at its users, when it comes to regulation.

If you ask me, if I'm not using bybit, I would rather make use of bitget as a better option because it's completely reliable and rarely will you see any form of associated scam case with it.

Exchanges are just temporary place that should be primarily used for converting crypto and USDT to Naira. Safety wise in terms of leaving your assets there, it's not advisable to do so. Just work with a reputable that's still serving people well and that's just it. As long as you're doing your P2P in a way that doesn't endangers you, there's no course for alarm, bybit or bitget is still a good option to work with.

Scammers are there. But if the chance of scam on Bybit is 90%, the chance of scam is 2% on Gate. You will rarely see scam or not see scam on Gate but scam is still there but very minimal.

You have not used Gate before but you make this kind of post.

Bitget was fully of scammers before and which has been going on for years until recently, but they have changed their algorithm which can make the P2P better. Do not mention Bybit at all, it has been the worst P2P for Nigerians in 2025.

Scams are everywhere and instead of looking for more exchanges to register and do KYC verification, it's much better for you to try as much as you can to build yourself to be able to identify and avoid all these scammers everywhere.
Most new cex might seem good at first but as time goes on scammers will still flood it so it's better you know your way to avoid them.

It should just be more of personal a personal opinion thing rather than a generalized claim. Nobody can say Gate.io is the best because it is not what you consider as the best which is mostly formed based on personal opinion and experience the person must have gotten with the exchange. It is always good to be open minded to discussions like this in the sense that you can just say, what you think is the best to you is such and such then if it open-minded then later you can consider everything in the light of other person's opinion.

No exchange is perfect Bybit has had some recent scam cases but that does not automatically make it unsafe just like gate io is not completely free of issue either if bybit is not your choice bitget is a good alternative and has been fairly reliable so far.
However at the end of the day exchange are meant for trading and quick conversion not long term storage use them to convert crypto or USDT to naria move your funds out when you are done and sick to basic P2P safety rule if you do that platform like bybit or bitget are still ok to work with.

 I have been making used of bybit and I haven't noticed some of the things you listed out. The only experience I had or challenge was one of the vendor was actually begging to reduce the advertised rate . I immediately reported it to bybit official and he was even asking to trade with me off line, this was when I noticed that something was actually wrong. As for the MEXC am not even thinking of making use of it. I still prefer bybit despite the challenges.

If they have not sent you fake payment did not mean they cannot send if you meet those buyers who sent fake transaction, for network problem I like exchange there P2P requires phone number because there should be means of communication when there is a claim of successful transfer but wasn't received so that they will put heads together and sort it out from there banks, although is not the exchange that request for number before transaction is usually the buyers, if any of them began to have some unpleasant delays and improper communication they will start asking for number.

I can’t remember using Gate.io for p2p before even though it is one of the exchanges that are mostly used today and rated top one also. I have had my experience with Bybit several times and what I can say about it is that, it necessitates you to be very cautious when trading. As there are a lot of scammers in that space, so are a lot of merchants that do the job well and not even bother to negotiate. It is good to always have proper research before trying to use any of this exchanges for p2p, but I think I’m okay with p2p I’m using now because I understand it well and not have any negative notion of getting scammed. It is better to use an exchange you understand than the one you don’t have any idea about.

‎You are right, I still find it shocking when people say they get scammed through bybit P2P.  in my mind, I will be like why will you release your coin to the buyer if you haven't received the money sent to your account. What I do is that I make sure I verify the payment properly before releasing the coin, sometime I even recharge 1k card to my line as part verification. I think at times Bitget usually adds charges in their p2p transfers. Gate.io is very underrated.

Only ignorant people and people who fail to read that fall to any scam on Bybit, otherwise, it still has credible P2p merchants that would give you exactly what you want.
 As for Remitano, the greatest challenge I encountered while using it then was the slow network speed. The congestion could get so bad that the whole app just freezes and you'll have to reload in order to complete your transactions.

Am just hearing about this gate.io spoken of by OP and am sure it's still a new exchange service that would have to undergo so much test to have a testimony.

What was it about remitano that you didn’t like?

It was at the time that Emefiele banned crypto transactions in Nigeria, people moved to P2P, including myself. I started to use Remitano at the time, the P2P order were delayed or later cancelled. I left it for Binance, although I had Binance at the time but I was not using its P2P. I later discovered that Binance was far better.

Bybit P2P is just fucked is what I see. I used Bybit most among all exchanges, so there is no way I will not use its P2P as I may find it difficult to first send the money to another exchange for P2P. I still used it yesterday and it is as usual. The buyers that will want to negotiate the price are too many, this is commonest on Bybit and which is frustrating.

Gate is not bad for people interested in P2P, but their KYC requirements are a bit weird, and they could just opt you into more KYC requirements if they notice some figures behind your transaction, not necessarily your own figures attimes, they can even reject your verified KYC anytime for no good reason then request even more ridiculous KYC.

Overall, it is a good wallet, but I still find Bybit to be better.. Their P2P is just a mess, but you can always deal with it, except for the rates though.

From what you have clearly said to me I won't bother making use of Gate especially from your explanation about there KYC . There is nothing I hate most for an exchange to start asking for any kyc and Even requesting for bank statements showing evidence that the BTC in your wallet is your.. This is an ugly experience that nobody will want to pass through.i would gladly recommend bybit to anyone, I have not experienced any KYC issue or bybit request for additional kyc just like some exchange.
