What do you mean that he's accusing you of having a large amount? Even if you do, it's none of their business; you owed them money, and you repaid that money to them, and that should be it for them. People need to have clear boundaries about certain things, especially when it comes to finances and financial holdings, and no relative should have any business with how much you earn or how much you have in general, but I know that some people have very large noses and they put their nose in almost everything, so you can't change them, but you can give them a shut up call.
Am still trying to get the whole senero right how someone funds is now becoming a problem to other people, that is pretty scary and surprising because that's how witchcraft all started just from little envy and jealousy another evil plan will fellow, however it best for op to stay off such fellow because someone like that is capable of anything. And yes, it's your mistake to pay him up straight from the wallet where you are holding all your funds, you basically don't make transactions with wallets where you keep your funds, especially to people who know you personally, because even if someone is very close to you, money can still make people do evil things, so if someone finds out you have a lot of money, they could try to harm you only to get their hands on the money you have.
That's true shea because our wallet should be our privacy, nobody is surpose to know how much we are worth especially in our current society were evil and wickedness is very common. Moreover money is the root of all evil and can instigate evil at any point in time so it's just better we stay silent on every stuff concerning our funds and investment to stay save from evil peoples.

Yes, you are right. But if we are a little aware, we can easily protect ourselves from this danger. For example, we can use a different wallet address during each transaction. Never transact with someone else in the wallet where you have stored your Bitcoin. You will transact in a separate wallet of your own and this place is for transacting with others or with everyone. If you transact, they will not be able to understand how much Bitcoin is in your main wallet.
Or if you want, you can transact using the Lightning Network. If you transact through the Lightning Network, your privacy is greatly increased and almost many people are not able to find it in Explorer.

Have you tried to tell him that wallet isn't yours? And the amount you sent to him came from an exchange? If you admit it is yours, then you leak your privacy to him. You can actually decline that it isn't yours, but it's from the exchange since he doesn't have proof that this is yours unless you admit it.
Next time, if you don't want to leak your wallet to your friends, always decline that it isn't yours but came from the exchange, or if you don't want others to know that you have a large amount, why not split your BTC to other wallets or addresses on the same wallet? It is way better than using some mixer unless the source of funds came from dirty works?
What's actually his purpose of doing such? I bet he does not really know the danger it brings once people around know how much you've been keeping in your wallet, because if he does, he'll just keep that information to himself. However, its certainly a good idea not admitting that its your wallet, its left for him if he will believe on you or not, but the fact that you don't admit anything just means that you have nothing to worry about. People will definitely won't believe on him either, except if they also have discovered how much you have been hodling in your wallet but they chose not to spread that information.

I owe someone in BTC, a close relative and it was time to pay up so I did, but later this relative of mine started accusing me of having large amount of Bitcoin left, he was able to check my balance on Bitcoin explorer, now he knows how much I have left and he won't shut up about it.
I never expected him to take this very seriously and the amount isn't even very big like Big Big, but to him it seems like a big amount, I guess make a mistake sending Bitcoin to him through my wallet instead of exchange.
This must be reasons why people hide transactions and use mixers or something, I wish Bitcoin has a way to hide balance when people scan through explorer but it's not made to work this way.
That’s the downside of Bitcoin being fully transparent. Once you send from your own wallet, anyone can start checking and assuming things that aren’t even true. It’s really a privacy issue more than anything, and a lot of people learn this the hard way.

Exactly. Using separate wallets for spending and saving makes a big difference, and rotating addresses helps a lot with privacy. Lightning is also a solid option since it keeps most activity off-chain, so people can’t easily track balances. A little planning goes a long way with Bitcoin privacy.

If you don't want anyone to know how much bitcoin you have in your wallet, use a separate wallet for that purpose; that's why people have hot wallets and cold wallets. Now, if you don't care about that, tell him to mind his own business; what you owed has been paid.
Period! Let him no become a police which will be monitoring your wallet or so. You can move your money to either of the wallet like you were advised here so that you don’t have issues of anyone monitoring you again. You’ve already got enough of advises here so work on them.

With the same or different reason, we have to hide our transactions from the eyes of the public. If you want to increase your privacy, you don't tell to anybody in person of what is your btc address. That's why almost all wallets and even in the exchanges have the feature of changing your address from time to time. One thing you can do is to move your bitcoin to another wallet address that only you knows it.

Have you not suspect he's really after your Bitcoin asset? I mean this could be his motive from the very start when he let you borrow some Btc. I don't understand why have he become aggressive towards you after learning that you have some stashed Btc? When you already paid what you owe him, and why do you need to borrow from him when you have enough in your wallet? I know you're comfortable transacting with him cause he's your close-relative, but like everybody is saying here, you cannot trust anyone, not even your own kin, especially when we're talking about a large amount of Btc.

That's the question I also asked myself, why borrow money from someone else when you already have available balance in your Bitcoin wallet? Doesn't make much sense to me. For this very reason, you shouldn't have used your main wallet, because as it has already been mentioned multiple times already, Bitcoin is fully transpart in such cases and if you know someone's address, you can openly see how much money they're holding. There are numerous ways to have avoided this, with no mixers involved. If you haven't already admitted that the wallet address is yours, make up an excuse that it was the exchange's address, if he's stupid enough, he might believe it.

What does this relative care about the contents of your wallet? You've repaid the debt - let him shut up and mind his own business. Your obligations to him are fulfilled. Sever all ties with this "former" relative. From the moment he began to envy your bitcoin (and coveted it), he ceased to be a relative. Thank fate that you learned of his "vileness" under these circumstances, and not through the financial losses he could have caused you. I never expected him to take this very seriously and the amount isn't even very big like Big Big, but to him it seems like a big amount, I guess make a mistake sending Bitcoin to him through my wallet instead of exchange.
Let this be a lesson to you: no one (even friends and relatives, who may one day cease to be such) should know about the bitcoin you have, and accordingly, you “confuse” the tracks leading to your BTC-addresses. This must be reasons why people hide transactions and use mixers or something,
Well, at least someone got it. People want privacy (as well as a sense of security) and use mixers and the like not for criminal reasons, but simply to avoid unnecessary prying eyes on their wallets. People don't publish the contents of their bank accounts everywhere, do they? There's such a thing as banking secrecy. You can think of mixers as a tool for maintaining banking secrecy on the blockchain. I wish Bitcoin has a way to hide balance when people scan through explorer but it's not made to work this way.
Oh, yes. Satoshi couldn't have known that the blockchain's greatest blessing would be turned against its users. I believe an option is needed to implement this feature (if it's technically feasible and doesn't contradict the bitcoin concept).

This is very serious issue as Bitcoin may turn into money worth much of money, which usually changes behavior of people, including close relatives. It is also suspicious that OP relative got angry when OP returned his money back, which suggests that he is more concerned with total amount of Bitcoin OP has and not debt. He could have lent some Bitcoin at beginning to see whether had wallet and now he feels that he is owed some of OP wealth since he helped in past. Because there is no bank to protect Bitcoin, OP should not talk about coins, keep wallet balance secret, and have keys to the security keys in secure place that he cannot get to. Do you believe that his aggression is only talk or are concerned that he would physically attempt to force OP to hand over personal keys to him?

It is true that Bitcoin protects privacy, but the privacy depends on the person using it. If you admit to the person that you paid the debt, then the privacy is exposed, but if you take the matter differently, then the privacy would not be 5 and you would deny that you do not have any Bitcoin. And you could also say that I paid your Bitcoin debt and it came from the exchange, then the matter remains confidential. You made a mistake and you admitted it and you showed your wallet, basically the privacy depends on yourself.

You paid him, right?
So why does he care how much you have left?
If I were you, I'd just swap it for XMR or something all in one go and then claim you were hacked & lost everything.
But for a future occasion, it is none of their business to extract more coins from you, and this is just greed disguised as an accusation. Especially family members will do anything to try and get your coins. Believe me. It's disgusting.

Yea I would do the same, this is why hot wallets always come in handy, use them to make small payments here and there then treat your main wallet like your gold mine, you don't want anyone spying on your balance behind your back, this is one reason why some people avoid KYC verification, because it's easier to know who thee Bitcoin in a wallet belongs to once you pass the KYC. Many people are using Bitcoin but they still don't know the right way to stay safe around it, using a hot wallet with small amount of money will keep your secret balance intact.

That’s the downside of Bitcoin being fully transparent. Once you send from your own wallet, anyone can start checking and assuming things that aren’t even true. It’s really a privacy issue more than anything, and a lot of people learn this the hard way. Once your personal wallet is exposed, there's no way to conceal the amount and transactions in your wallet. This is a consequence of Bitcoin's transparent nature. The solution is to use a wallet from an exchange or use a mixer. Alternatively, you can send in stablecoins instead of Bitcoin. You can use a coin exchange service to exchange your Bitcoin for another coin. However, if this happens, you'll need to create another wallet. You can send your coins to an exchange first and then transfer them to your personal wallet. In the future, never use the personal wallet you use to store assets if you don't want your transactions to be known to your acquaintances.

This is what happens when you share your bitcoin information with others; they become someone who will protect your privacy or they are the first to spread the word about your bitcoin.
Many Bitcoin holders ultimately regret sharing their bitcoin information with others because of things like this. It might start out as a casual conversation, but we just don't know what will happen when it gets out there. It could put you in a bad situation, and all because of one mistake: not hiding how much bitcoin you own.
At this point, what you should do is learn more about how to protect your bitcoin holdings. There's no need to be overly trusting of others, as we simply don't know their true intentions.

I mean you did pay up to your loan and the amount you have doesn't concerned him anymore since all you need to settle is the loan period, this is just pure jealousy his jealouse because you have a Bitcoin save up and its probably bigger than his savings that is why he is angry seeing you have a bigger balance on your wallet, its a common relative here in my country. Still you have no obligations or something I would just suggest to cut all of your ties with him, since it's probably not going to be a good idea to have transactions with him anymore.
There was no actual need actually to hide your address or something used of a mixer since you just trust the person, that is why you do the direct transaction with him, its not really your fault, the problem is with your relative getting upset over your balanc,e I mean, it's just ridiculous. I guess it's lesson learn and better to be safe at all times, just dont trust anyone why it comes to cryptocurrency or Bitcoin. The blockchain is public so there was no way that you can hide your balance, I guess you could just create a new wallet, send your balance from your old wallet to the new one using a mixer and then wooala Bitcoin is gone.

Hiding the balance of bitcoins at a specific address would essentially contradict the philosophy of bitcoin, so personally, I would be against such an initiative. As for your question, it is better to keep a wallet with a decent balance separate and not transfer anything directly from it to anyone. You can make a transfer via a transit address, and if the recipient asks what the previous address was, you don't have to say that it was yours. But usually, the only recipients who might be curious are relatives or friends, everyone else will simply mind their own business. Yes, you can also transfer funds through an exchange, which is what many people usually do. You can also create an individual address that will always have a small balance, but will be used to make small payments to other users.

You could have simply lied and say that wallet belonged to a third party or some service which you used to pay your relative back. If you give any indication of that address belonging to you, then you could be in serious trouble with that information becoming widespread in your town or community.
If I were you, I would take measures to further hide balances and also move all those funds to a different wallet, and hide the new private keys. You can send your Satoshis to an exchange and then withdraw them all to your new wallet, so your relative loses track of your money.
